  1. Same same, you and your good lady were excellent company. Really were a great tour guide and introduced us to some wonderful people. Would be happy to see Nut again, lovely character. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Just for your info I am no longer grumpy with Emirates. After arriving at Swampy took a trip upstairs to Emirates, spoke with a 'lovely' young man who was all about customer service. Let him know I was BA staff but booked with Emirates full fare as got married last week and didn't want to standby. Obviously felt a kindred spirit with me and booked me emergency exit aisle seat free of charge. Result.

  7. I have no problem with it! It takes very good photos in low light or dark without a flash. Also has some nice features like program to switch on and off at set times. The phone also has duel operating templates, say work or private. So what ever code or fingerprint you enter opens work or private. facial recognition will obviously only work on one template. very handy to keep all my Thai secrets safe on one phone. You can also duplicate app, say like line or whatsapp. keeping one for uk contacts and locking the other for Thai contacts. This is is addition to duel template. It also has smart cover function, which transfers the incoming call display on screen to the cover itself. The clever part is it is in a different place on the cover than it was on screen. No wires or batteries in cover. The one down side is no wireless charging, which was very usefull on my old S7, but at least it has the new USB-c connection, so the charger can be inserted either way up! Of course not only is it full of bloater ware, but i am also being spyed on by China! ..... God I hope mangobollox dont reply to this, or this site will be shut down as well! Sorry my phone is the P20 Pro

  13. Very bright and hot sunshine today, so the need for some shelter. Firstly Seasons' Greetings from Mike's Mall. As well as 'knock off' clothing, there is quite a variety of other items on display here.

  18. OK, today a bit of jungle technology ! Saw this "mobile wood saw truck" a few times near the house. The idea is when you have a tree to cut and transform in planks, you call them. Of course as a technician this aroused my interest and I went to have a close look. Pretty interesting, and well thought. Basically it is an engine that drive or the travelling transmission (through a gearbox) or directly a circular saw mounted on the back of the truck. The rotation speed of the saw is obtained by the size of the saw drive pulley, and adjusting the engine speed. General view : On the pic here under you can see the thing in "travelling" mode, the engine driving the G.B. and transmission. You will note on the left a second set of V-Belts that will be put in place of the "travelling mode" belts, and will drive the pulleys at the end of the saw drive shaft. Dont be tricked ! The left tank is for the coolant circuit, the right (blue) one for the fuel. Operating process : Note the cloth used as a protection against wood chips projections ! Job done, clean up at charge of the client !

  20. This one's from 2012. She told me it was the name of her daughter. I'd say more likely it was the work of some sick bastard who wanted to leave his name on her for all others who went after him to see.

  25. Seems to be a trend amongst the younger bar girls to get themselves absolutely covered in tattoos. Suppose it's the same with many girls here in the UK. Shame. A few tastefully done tattoos are gorgeous.

  26. Booked 2 tickets to Thailand for tomorrow for wife and son, earlier this morning, as wifes mother underwent emergency heart surgery last night and I want her to be there ASAP, so booked 2 first class tickets. Thought of getting them on a late flight today, but we are having freezing rain and snow is forecast for the East, so I didn’t fancy chancing the run to Heathrow and getting stuck. She hasn’t slept and won’t even try, too worried about her mum. Hopefully, when they get on the plane tomorrow she can relax, properly stretch out and sleep. So Chrismas and all our plans are on hold until well into New Year. The best laid schemes o’ mice and men, gang aft a gley. Or something like that. 😟

  31. Thats dreadful customer service, I think you do right by being nice at check in desk, usually goes a long way, I was lucky enough 2 weeks ago, I hadnt checked in online, so went up to the desk with my Mrs, asked nicely I dont suppose you have any exit seats left do you, girl said let me check, even asked would i like the 2 on the exit with an isle or window, I chose isle, she said there is normally a charge for these seats, but today I do for you for free, this was on EVA, i understand they offer these with a tag of over a £100 now, dead dead lucky. Fingers crossed for you David, I hope you get something more to your liking.

  32. Tomatoes stuffed with minced pork (mixed with celery, garlic, shallots, pepper...) Served with plain white rice for the Asian touch..... Prepared from A to Z by the Miss (with a bit of French supervision...) Usually when we bought tomatoes in HKG, they were tasteless, very watery and with a though skin. These ones were really nice and with a soft very edible skin. Even she mentionned it ! Please dont report me about the Aussie wine.....My poor pension doesn't allow me to buy Bordeaux here 😢😢😢

  33. We were definitely lucky, Salzburg looked a brilliant team last night, they beat us to every ball. I couldn't believe it when I heard Rosenborg had scored right at the end of their game. In Europe after Christmas what a result😎 Some quality teams we can get in the draw on Monday. hopefully get somewhere decent for a wee trip away for a few days.

  36. Reading this : And yes, he is spot on concerning some long term expats gone native and lost touch. Many posts I saw on various forums during the years just attest it, and some are even proud about it..... https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2018/12/column-9-december-going-native/ One of the worst things that can happen to a long-term expat is losing perspective about the world in general, and specifically where Thailand fits in. Many Thais see Thailand as the centre of the universe and really do believe the world revolves around it….and more than a few expats adopt a similarly distorted view. But guess what ? I dont give a hoot !
