4. Hello everybody, I'm living in Thailand for more than 10years. First few years in Pattaya, and now in a small village 50 km from Korat. I'am singing in because the secrets forum will stop.

 5. I married a lady from Loei and have been living up here for more than ten years. I do still have a condo in Jomtien that I don't rent out. I like it to be available when I want a change of scenery. And yes, I go way back, even before Pete bought the FLB. I had advised Pete to forget about buying a (then) GoGo bar. I didn't realize at that time that he is a very astute businessman. Being an old man now, I still enjoy my trips to my condo and Pattaya even though I have outlived many of my old Pattaya/Jomtien friends.

 6. Had three of them in my place tonight. Each ordered three shots of Patron Anejo. That’s nine shots of my most expensive liquor. Paid up and left.

 7. Like a cocktail or 2 later in the evening? Nam Mao - drunken water - is almost next to it. A little beach bar we just tried yesterday for the very first time. No ladies or chrome poles here., but maybe you fancy some ping pong or throw some darts? We had 2 Margaritas, which were a bit sweet (150 Bt). The old leaves are gone, the new leaves are blooming. We asked to add some lime to the next glasses and the result was perfect, just as we like them. Cheers!

 9. Spent ages last Friday/Saturday trying to get the wife a business class seat to Thailand for Sunday. Finally managed it and off she went. Spoke to her this morning and it turns out she got bumped up on Thai Airways to First class. I thought she’d be happy, but no, I get bollocked for spending so much money on her! Despite my protestations, she won’t believe I didn’t pay for 1st class! Can’t fecking win either way. 😞

 13. A new arrangement between Scooters and the new owners of Secrets (but you already knew that.). Soi Buakhao branch posted above. Pook Plaza in Soi Buakhao. Not new unless you have not been here for a couple of years. Beer Hub - located on the edge of Tree Town. Very recently opened. Pagoda Guest House and House Bar. Recently converted from a Financial Advice Centre (which almost disappeared overnight) to a bar/accommodation complex. Chunky Monkey Soi Buakhao. Recently opened believed owned by the original owner of Robin's Nest. This place on Beach Road is also fairly new.

 19. I hadn't eaten at Jameson's Irish Pub in years but tried it again the other night as I was staying in a hotel nearby. It wasn't a convenient location for me, but the main reason I didn't go back often was the funereal interior. When I visit an Irish pub, I want to be reminded of leprechauns and the Blarney Stone, not haunted castles, banshees and the Cóiste Bodhar. Typical American tourist attitude, I know, but I don't like gloomy bars and restaurants. The food as I remember it had been good, but friends said it had gone down in recent years. I did have a good meal there the other night. The interior, though, was as uninviting as I recalled, except it wasn't as cavernous as before. Jameson's has been cut in half to make way for a yet-to-open pizza place. I had the roast chicken dinner for 245 baht. On the plate I got half a chicken, roast and mashed potatoes, a boast of gravy and the usual medley of boiled veggies. The chicken had been roasted properly and was moist. The potatoes were fine. The veggies were a bit soft for me, but that's a matter of individual preference. The gravy seemed to a generic out-of-a-package and overly salty, so I didn't bother with it. In all, it was good meal. Not outstanding, but good. A bottle of water cost 30 baht, so the whole meal put me back 275 baht. Bottom line: Jameson's location and gloomy interior are negatives, but based on my chicken dinner, the food wouldn't deter me from another visit if I felt like pub fare. Here's the location for those unfamiliar with it. If you're riding the Second Road baht bus, get off just before Soi 6, cross the street and take Soi 4 to Jameson's. It has some decent prices on pints during its Happy Hours, but so do many other bars. Evil

 21. The mods and admin here are generally not yanks, but rather lower forms of life like Brits, so the people with the mod buttons will be up to speed on that peculiar sense of "humor" (<- note correct spelling). Just ripping the mickey of course. BTW, note that most of us yanks on here will have been on other Thai boards, and will be up to speed.

 22. Can't disagree there is a higher risk on two wheels compared to four, or on two feet. Some of that risk can be mitigated by riding defensively, same as on a motorbike. In the ten years of living and riding here I've only had a couple of close calls, and those were at relatively slow speed so had plenty of time to react and avoid, plus a healthy dose of expecting the unexpected. One thing I do have a issue with here is group rides that don't follow safe riding practices. Bikers that ride two and more abreast on busy roads are just inviting trouble, not to mention pissing off overtaking traffic. I'll join a group ride for off road mtn biking, but my daily road rides are done solo for that reason.

 25. Two suggestions and 1 Caution - 1) Consider Index Funds or Exchange Traded Funds (ETF's) rather then individual stocks. You do need to do your homework though on these - look for low cost reputable ETF's that invest in actuals rather then paper. But more broadly you should come up with a broad plan covering the how, what, when etc. It sounds a bit daunting initially but also reveals the type of things you should know before committing your hard earnt to the markets. Stuff like how will you measure success or failure. at what point will you say I got this one wrong and sell? You might want to have a look at some article on the following site. I have no association with them just have been on their email list for some years - http://www.alphaim.net/ This is a recent article - http://www.alphaim.net/power_newsletter.html 2) Have a good look around here - Plenty of free article etc https://stockcharts.com/articles/ Take your time, think about it ? The caution ? - Consider where we are in the current economic cycle, plenty of Economic Clocks and articles around. Attached is one from Brit, James Montier from GMO a Boston-based fund manager with $US99 billion in funds under management, co-founded by highly regarded veteran Jeremy Grantham (another Brit with US citzenship I think). The article is titled - Late Cycle Lament: The Dual Economy, Minsky Moments, and Other Concerns Finally I'm just pointing you to general ideas etc nothing more - its up to you BTW a google Finance link to that Energy referred to by the OP - https://www.google.com/search?tbm=fin&ei=OJlgXJG4KcHnvASkvb2oDw&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgecRozi3w8sc9YSm9SWtOXmPU4OIKzsgvd80rySypFJLiYoOyBKT4uHj00_UNK3OMMyxLijJ4AAkYMKg8AAAA&q=LON%3A+UKOG&oq=LON%3A+UKOG&gs_l=finance-immersive.1.0.81i8k1.16280.16280.0.17964.1.1.0.0.0.0.167.167.0j1.1.0....0...1c.2.64.finance-immersive..0.1.166....0.maYMNSSL9-M#scso=_S5lgXMm1JIr_vgT_7IAI2:0 Good luck - please do your homework and preparation carefully. 26. Great thread idea. Best thing about The Daily Torygraph is the Obits now. Wing Commander Tim Elkington, who has died aged 98, was one of the last surviving pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain, and was one of only two survivors of the RAF Hurricane Wing that operated with the Russians from the Arctic port of Murmansk. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2019/02/03/wing-commander-tim-elkington-fought-battle-britain-went-hurricane/

 31. For anyone in Pattaya over the next two weeks, you should be aware that the annual Cobra Gold military exercises, with US, Thai and other forces, are taking place between 12 and 23 February. This usually results in quite a few US military personnel spending their time around Walking Street. They might also be around for a few days after the exercises finish. http://www.pacom.mil/Media/News/News-Article-View/Article/1744312/exercise-cobra-gold-2019-to-kick-off-on-february-12-2019/

 32. Firstly am aware that at the moment am a random stranger but am a futures trader of 34 years (not a make believe youtube one like our Soi 6 friend ) and in addition hold decent portfolio of stocks mainly British Oilers and Energy stocks. I'm quite successful. If guys are interested am happy to put up the occasional share tip. They will be few and far between though. Any stock I suggest I will already be invested or about to. I absolutely wont ramp a stock on a pump and dump basis I make that clear. If theres positive feedback to OP I will pop up 1 or 2 but only if there is interest obviously
