  5. One of the reasons I got out of gogo bars was that I felt bad for the girls who had to dance for hours and hours on end. No matter what you’re getting paid. I ask anyone to get in a pair of high heels and dance for the best part of 8 hours every day, even the best dancers in the world would get bored shitless. Add to that the extortionate barfines, I found working there a chore. Much prefer the beer bars. I have a concept for a bar that would show flesh, but the girls wouldn’t need to dance. Think it would be popular. Anyway, sorry, back to Scooters.

  6. Your requests for Val Doonican and Engelbert Humperdinck used to slow the pace right down. Had the girls falling off the podiums as they nodded off. + Danny Room 107 could do with a new lick of paint after all these years ........

  8. Number of girls is about where we want to be, and after things have settled we will def be looking at "day/afternoon" trade . As with any new venture there has to be a period of settling down and tweaking, before the next decisions are made. Appreciate your support Cheers

  13. This period just prior to Songkran always seems to be the quietist of the year but it has one major benefit for Secrets Hotel. We have a window of 5 just days when many rooms become empty for at least two or 3 consecutive days which gives our two maintenance guys until Thursday ( when we are full again) to repaint the rooms which are in need of a face lift. Fortunately, they are both quick and thorough.

  15. D-2 Obviously the serious stuff is starting today ! The women were at work in the kitchen at 03.00 am, so you know it’s gonna be a busy day. Pics taken a bit after sunrise : Red chili anyone ? Women are working, men are sitting, chatting and tasting the food. They got some priorities right here ! From what I understood today we’ll have plenty visitors again, but mostly male. And indeed at 08.30 there are already about 40 or so around, . Sitting together, drinking coffee and smoking (every proper male smokes heavily here…), playing cards and helping out with the cooking of the jelly. A good thing here is that there is no alcohol involved ! But first a few pics from yesterday afternoon. After the coconut job was done, the women started to prepare the leaves in which the food for the boxes will be wrapped. After a bit of questioning I think I finally understood the jelly thing (the one I thought was cake..) It is a jelly made with coconut milk, red sugar, and flour. Made me have to google what is “red sugar”: http://www.taikoosugar.com/en-us/products/detail/36 The coconut milk is brought to boil and kept boiling for 2 or 3 hours, all while stirring it, till is starts to be become a bit consistent. At the same time red sugar, cut in cubes, is melted into a paste. Next the flour, red sugar are added to the coconut milk and continuously stirred till it becomes a thick paste. The stirring of that part started this morning around 05.00 am, it is now 08.30 and it is still going on ! Meanwhile the area in front of the house is slowly transformed in a parking lot….. As I mentioned in previous posts, only a handfull of people have a car around here. This afternoon we should have the visit from some kind of priest, and the marquee team should start setting up the real thing. To be followed…..

  16. With regard to the music you could talk to Pete at the Beer Garden, he has it sussed with the volume issue.

  17. We use many original tracks at Scooters from the 50's to 80's, where sound quality is debatable but the tunes never grow old. As we have only been open a week, we will obviously be monitoring all aspects of the business. NB: we use a sound leveling program on the computer, which works to a degree, but is not infallible. 😉

  18. Guys we have listened to what has been said about the Volume, and spoken to our Bar Manager Anthony, we will monitor volumes to ensure they are an exceptable level, but !! - Too please all would take many lifetimes in this business 😉

  20. The volume level of music and the BPM (beats per minute) do effect the drinking habits of people in a “normal” venue. The faster and louder the music the more people will drink. But bars like Scooters/Secrets and others isn’t a “normal” venue as most sales come from social interaction with the staff (last drinks/barfine) and to socially interact you need to be able to talk a little. A very long winded way of saying that volume levels need to be set so people can talk, this will increase sales. I’m sure the lads at Scooters know this as they run some great venues already. They know the business. Personally I like to keep the BPM rocking in the venue. When I was manager of Secrets I used to limit the amount of customer requests for slow songs as the mood in the bar just went down. Slow songs usually hold some sentimentality for a particular customer but are an annoyance to others and in the days when there were girls dancing on podiums, the girls used to have a problem dancing to the slower songs. Glad to hear from Danny and Steve that things are going well and very best of luck. Hope to pop in to see you again at some time.

  22. You are quite correct, in years gone by Secrets had an awesome afternoon line up and was indeed a great venue to visit in the afternoons. Sadly this hasn't been the case for quite a few years now.

  34. Phil, what I hate about management in different bars when you/they call what the girls do on the podiums "dancing" when especially what I have seen over the last 6 years in secrets was more like a slow swaying and minium foot movement bloody rubbish and 2016 the mamsan had the hide ask for 1000Bt BFs because she is dancer, fucking nearly busted my poopoff valve laughing at that, but yes I payed the extortion demand regards grayray

  36. Im not usually a visitor to this thread as I know bugger all about Netflix. But, as I'm in Sweden with the tg and her son Netflix has been most welcome for me. Just recently viewed Highwaymen(excellent), the Motley Crue movie (better than I expected) and American Psycho with Christian Bale(not my cup of tea)

  42. Ongoing work at Passion and Seduction in Soi 6 Scooter Bar in Soi 6. It was around 0900, hence no customers. Work at Pump Station 3 Fairly new I think. Does No Free Toilet mean there is a chargeable toilet or no toilet? Paint work here. This used to be two or three bars - now merged into this.
