while Patts is somewhat quiet I've had a great time. Just want to say a few thank you's. First night in Le Pub - nice to see Phil again and thanks for the hospitality. I'll be coming on a regular basis. Great to meet John Luke and his good lady. So good to put names/handles to faces and enjoyed your company. Also good to meet Larry. Many thanks to JDM too - what a star, finding me the perfect apartment. Not even one of his, he spotted the ad in the local foodmart, made the initial contact and was good enough to drive me over there yesterday. I couldn't have wished for a more ideal place, overlooking the ocean, just what I wanted. And what can I say about Namps? Absolutely brilliant to meet you mate. Two brilliant nights out, one in WS and last night in LK. Such a laugh. Upstairs at Kink is something else - will definitely be going there again. I've found the girls attitude to be very good and fun, in both WS and LK. Only issue I've had so far was in one particular gogo on WS, where I was one of about 6 guys in there. Got eye contact with an especially pretty girl, gestured for her to come and down and bought her a drink. Had about 15 minute chat, was going really well and I was thinking barfine. Then the mamasan came over and told her to go dance. Unbelievable. The stage was full of girls with only half a dozen punters. The girl got up on the stage and gestured she was upset at having to get up. I immediately check-binned and legged it, with the girl giving me the crying gesture as I walked out. Complete idiot mamasan, causing the place to lose some more drinks, probably a barfine and me as a customer now. That's been the only negative in the first 2 days, everything else has been fantastic. I'm looking forward to my 6 month stay and meeting more of you guys.9 points

Hello to all, I have been on Secrets Forum for 12 years, also known as Atticus over there. I have never been a prolific poster, though in the days of the Secrets 'Bangkok section' I posted a lot on there, with hotel / sightseeing recommendations and advice. I 'see' some familiar faces on here, Phil, Larry, Boydeste, Thai Spice, Moonfly (with a different handle) and many others. Cheers! Atticus2 points

Preface below comment with- 1. I hate guns, have never held one, never mind shot one in my life 2. NRA ranks right up there with Big Pharmy and Big Religion as the most evil congregation of $$$ disguised as political lobbyist in history of mankind, but it is still a distant 3rd compared to the other 2. 3. I am an ardent supporter of the second amendment of the US Constitution, but fact is, we the people lost the inherent intended rights our founding fathers bestowed upon us via the second amendment more than 150 years ago so not sure where the argument, whether it be pee shooter, AK47, or any purchase control comes into play in the year 2019. Now, to answer the above question directly - Yes Texas has open carry laws. But private property owners are allowed to "trump" the law and make their properties GUN FREE ZONES. The tragic events today happened in a GUN FREE ZONE, so the brave people you refer to were acting as law abiding citizens. Allow me to close with some more subjective conjecture. Guns are a problem, no doubt, but they are not THE PROBLEM. They are more a symptom of a bigger problem, that being mental health. For sure not a Seppo centric problem, but one big Pharmy and big Religion has exploited in America more than elsewhere simply because it has been the most lucrative market for profit over the past 100 years. But that trend is slowly changing and can be evidenced by the trends in violent crime and intentional homicide rates. Whilst US is still quite significantly above most of our fellow western cultures in cases per 100k people, it is fact that our trend for past 20 years has been down, and down significantly whilst the opposite holds true for our fellow Western cultures. Moral of the story....be careful what you wish for. You might be ahead of the curve on the gun thing, but don't be shocked when folk with mental health issues start using more than trucks on the promenades of Paris to destroy innocent lives but start using dirty bombs or chemical weapons to take out 1000's of innocent lives in one swoop. If we all don't start addressing the problem rather than lathering up over the symptom, well call me crazy but I fear a day when we all look back to the "good ole days" when the worst thing in the hands of a mentally disturbed individual was an A-47! Just saying.....................2 points

Thing is you are probably not wrong. I reckon there is a link between violent video games and mass shootings, especially among the younger shooters.Having trouble separating reality from non reality.1 point

I went to see this last night.. Absolutely nothing to do with Fast and Furious IMO apart from the two characters. Some real LOL moments and some unreal impossible stuff. Escapism at it's finest .. Loved it myself and some stunning women to boot. Makes London look brilliant there are bits filmed in Krabi, but they pretend it's Samoa in the movie.1 point

Unless I fly somewhere for work, I am hoping my next flight won't be until March 2021. Tripped planned as flying Brisbane to Sydney, cruise Sydney to Singapore, train Singapore to Chiang Mai, fly Chiang Mai to Udon Thani, drive Udon Thani to Pattaya and then finally fly Bangkok to Brisbane. Hoping to just holiday locally for the next 18 months.1 point

So should we all have guns instead to protect ourselves as that will sure solve it. There is a lot less chance of a massacre American style with a knife than a gun, plus most knife attacks are between black youths who think they are 'gangsta innit',so no loss to society, but American gun massacres target innocent people.1 point

Home made cheese burgers tonight. The burgers are pre made from the local supermarket chain. They come about an inch think so I tend to flatten them out a bit. Once cooked if left end up like an over sized meat ball. In with the mushrooms... Now the green leaf salad. i tend to chop up fine with the salad, Then I add cider vinegar, mild olive oil, black pepper and a touch of salt. Now it time to build the burger... Melted cheese and cooked mushrooms. All done1 point

Sitting in a motel room at Newark Liberty Airport, watching classic Western TV series from the 1950's and 1960's. Looking at Rawhide right now, the series that led Clint Eastwood to the movies that made him a star. The top star of the series, Eric Fleming, had been offered the role of the "Man with No Name" in A Fistful of Dollars, but declined and recommended Eastwood to Sergio Leone. Not a bad room for $100/night. A spacious room like that with microwave, fridge and big-screen TV with 200 channels would cost $300-$400/night in Manhattan. It was very clean with a comfortable bed, but the furnishings were a bit worn.1 point

I am sure that if you were working for someone you would always put on a united front for the public, if not you wouldnt last 5 mins :) Jambo was probably the most loyal of employees they ever had to be fair. He would never say anything derogatory about them until the end. a lot of companies would give their left nut for that kind of loyalty, especially here1 point
