  1. we in OZ there are "friends" and then there is "mates" a mate is closer than a friend,in some cases a mate is closer than a wife, most blokes share things with their mate, things that they would never tell wifey. you can always get another wife, but lose a mate and you never get him back regards grayray

  2. A friend will help you move. But a real true friend will help you move a body.

  3. But ya never really lose a mate imo, if ya do he was'nt really a mate in the first place just a friend. The reason why your mates is because you sing off the same hymn sheet, share the same values, standards and common interests. I can honestly say that i've only ever had 4 real mates in my life 2 in the UK and 2 here in Thailand, you know the kind of mates you'll do anything for and likewise. I got loadsa good friends shedloads of em i'm happy to say but they don't fall in the same category as "real mates" Just sayin like

  7. Had Ribeyes last Sunday along with long grain and wild rice and a taco salad. It was great. I like my steaks medium rare to rare.... but will eat them anywhere from raw to burned...lol I sear them on each side for 2 minutes on medium high heat. Then grill them for 3 minutes on each side at the same temperature. I pull them off the grill and cover with tin foil for 7 to 10 minutes. I like the temperatures of the meat to be around 125 F when I pull them off the fire. Letting them stand covered for the 10 minutes allows the juices to absorb back into the meat fibers. Plus the steak continues to cook as it sits there covered with the tinfoil. The end result is a very juicy piece of meat. Plus I warm the plates in the oven to help keep the steak warmer longer once uncovered. The salad was very good and the rice was just soso. Had icecream for dessert.

  8. She's been here nearly 10 years now, married for 6, and happy as Larry. Like others' wives she's in no rush to move back to Thailand; she's got everything here apart from her family, but she still speaks with her mom every other day. I'm about to book for a 6 week trip back to Thailand to see the in laws with our son, their 1st grandchild, so I expect some emotional times when we arrive and especially when we go home again early next year. She'll be fine though, as long as she believes her future is here with me/us..

  9. Last night - Spasso (Italian) restaurant, Grand Hyatt Hotel (near Chit Lom and Siam BTS station) https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/thailand/grand-hyatt-erawan-bangkok/bangh/dining https://www.hyatt.com/content/dam/hotel/propertysites/assets/grand/bangh/documents/en_US/dining/spasso-restaurant-and-bar/Spasso-A-La-Carte-Menu.pdf Was hunting on Eatigo for a dinner idea last night. I did a search for places near the BTS. I came across this place at the Grand Hyatt. Bingo ! Took me about 7 or 8 minutes (door to door) using the BTS from Nana station (just outside the door of my hotel, ON8 - Soi ), 23 baht. Beautiful place, top notch service, place has won multiple awards. I was seated by a lovely hostess and promptly served some water which is all I cared to drink. Gazed upon the menu while being served a basket of the best bread I have had in a long long time (along with soft herbed butter, a delightful tomato paste, and a fresh grilled garlic "wedge". After some indecision I went with a salad and some pasta. I went with the wild rocket, salami, and aged parmesan cheese. I was not disappointed. As I was finishing up the delightful salad and bread my pasta arrived. Gnocchetti (I've never heard of it before, but thought WTF why not) braised lamb ragout (see the menu). It blew me away. Fabulous meal. Just outstanding in all departments. 50 % off with Eatigo.com discount. Final tab 609 baht. Can't beat it.

  12. yes you can loose a mate when he or you do something that really flucks you up. I haven't yet lost any, got the 3 I had as a school kid back 70years ago,2 have not seen for a long time, one who we stay in touch all the time the others know that I can't travel, hear from on our birthdays, see them at a few funerals over the last 15 years. but if I walked into our old town local where they still live,we would just start up like I just got back from another mongering tour, there was 5 regulars who one of the barstaff called us the "filthy five" we won a prawn tray at the raffle and one of us had bag peanuts he brought back from queenslands Kingaroy peanut farms. so we ate the prawns and nuts and the shells was all over the table and floor, and the nickname stuck. fluck how can I remember that he have trouble remembering the beer order when its my shout. regards grayray

  15. I think most people use the word "friend" to easily. I have plenty mates (copains) in my life but only 2 or 3 that I qualify as "friend"

  16. They're funny sometimes..... Some things recently has made me wonder..... regarding what is really a friend. Do you nurture each other, try to put them in the best light, back them up, help them out, support them when they are in a jam, talk favorably about them to others ? or Do you put up a false front, friendly and all - while putting them down behind their back, snickering and such when they do something stupid, not really caring about their well being, divulging otherwise discreet conversations with you ? Not always easy to tell. but over time things filter out and you begin to get a clearer picture.

  20. I kind of used to think Aldi was low quality but it isn't necessarily true. They make their savings on only having about 2 of everything whereas the usual supermarkets like Tesco have as many lines as they can fit in. They can produce quality foods as lower prices. Aldi have won quite a few awards for their quality of food and I must admit some of their produce such as Thai fish cakes with chorizo and their ribs stand up well against the other contenders etc. Their beers as well are great value as they will sell them at £1.25 and cheaper but the exact same beer in Tesco or Morrisons etc will be between £1.65 and £1.85. I do use Aldi on occasions as they are located near to Morrisons and Tesco.

  25. Four old-timers were playing their weekly game of golf, and one remarked how nice it would be to wake up on Christmas morning, roll out of bed and without an argument, go directly to the golf course, meet his buddies, and play a round. His buddies all chimed in and said, "Let's do it! We'll make it a priority, figure out a way and meet here early Christmas morning." Christmas morning arrives, and they were all on the golf course. The first guy says, "Boy, this game cost me a fortune! I bought my wife such a big diamond ring that she can't take her eyes off it". Number 2 guy says, "My wife is at home planning the cruise I gave her. She was up to her eyeballs in brochures." Number 3 guy says, "Well, my wife is at home admiring her new car, reading the manual." They all turned to the last guy in the group who is staring at them like they all had lost their minds. "I can't believe you all went to such an expense for this golf game. I woke up, slapped my wife on the butt and said: ‘Well Babe, Merry Christmas! It's a great morning for either sex or golf’, and she said, 'Take a sweater' ".

Sorry to say but The Arsenal are just going through a blip in their history. Just the same as a bigger club.... Gulp!... As Man Utd. Suck it up Jambo, the next few seasons belong up here in the North West... Liverpool and Citeh. Meanwhile, Wenger being touted for the Bayern job. Better the devil you know I think!

  27. Well...getting a bit nostalgic turning back the clock here, 1977 sat 3rd row for ELP at The Oakland Coliseum Arena. I will never forget how good this song was. RIP to both Greg Lake who fought a valiant battle against Pancreatic Cancer for years, and to Keith Emerson who sadly committed suicide a few years back. This Moog Synthesizer solo he does...... still gives me goose bumps today. Pass me the bong LOL! Indeed ..."He had white horses and ladies by the score, all dressed in satin, and waiting by the door.....ooooh............. what a lucky man.....he was" Saw Carl Palmer back in July here....the guy can still play those Ludwigs beyond good! Great monger song for sure.

  28. There are friends, they are close and knows you in and out and you know them in and out. Small by number. Then there are comrades. A much broader circle covering anything from colleagues and class mates, drinking partners, members of the same club, sharing same hobbies, etc. Large by numbers.

  39. My wife is functioning quite well here now. No issues at all, happy to be here and enjoying alot of what America has, that Thailand will never have. The flip side to that is, that I have enjoyed alot of the things Thailand has, that America will never have. I think that it has helped us both being married now to have seen both sides of the coin you know? I will say too that looking back on it all over our relationship, that being apart from each other and doing the long distance thing for a few years, was probably a good thing. I could " gauge" her decision making skills when it came time to plan this whole thing out with, me making the move over there and all. Had no doubt she would pull it all together having worked with her for 7 years, so I knew her skill level. Here she fits in with everyone, loves sports, my close friends, family, gym buddies, neighbors and all the kids on the street seem to like her as she has good social skills and not shy about meeting or talking to people at all. Have seen other guys with their relationships and met their significant other, some of these gals have about as much personality as watching paint dry! They can't be bothered meeting people they don't want to meet. Complete miserable women just don't cut it with me. Working out and cooking are two things we have in common, she is a better cook then me by far and could cook newspaper and it would taste good. I do not have to worry about her spending money foolishly either, good sense with Finance and her education having an MBA has made her an asset to me. She has a close Thai friend here who she worked with back home who transferred here to work in the Corporate Office that they go out together a few times per month for dinner Thai food and go to the theater etc. Do not get the impression she must have Thai friends here or she just can't function....far from it. So far we are having a blast here doing things she has never done or seen and will continue for a while and enjoy the fun times ahead.

  46. Considering the name of the thread is, "Shitfeasts Secrets and other forums," and was started by a board Admin, it seems this would be the right place to discuss such matters. The shitfests; flame wars; posts by the conmen and frauds who tried to twist the boards to their own purposes;, the guys who used many handles; etc., are all part of the Pattaya board experience. No harm in discussing the less saluatory side of punter boards, although the shitfests also contained some of the funniest posts. I think of it this way: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." By recalling the worst of the old boards, we can avoid such posts in the future. Evil
