  2. MMA fans, we have this show on from 4:00pm all night, tomorrow (Saturday) plus f1 from Brazil, Moto GP, Euro qualifiers, college football and NFL. Nice line up too and just had the pool table serviced, so it’s as flat as a Thai girls chest.

  4. What an ugly finish to this game. Garrett is a star player and #1 overall pick. Game is over in 10 seconds, and he rips off the QB’s helmet and hits him with it? Savage and stupid, there are no words to describe it

  6. It was billed as 60 minutes of free beer to celebrate the 60th anniversary of London Pride.Fortunately the serving wenches were late to turn up to my local club so it went on for longer than the 60. The serving wenches were from Ecuador and very, very nice.

  7. I agree - Pouncey deserves more than just the 3 game suspension he got.

  12. Had that swing by Garrett hit Rudolph with the crown of his helmet to his head, with the force he used when swinging, then we very well might be talking about something else here, like perhaps criminal charges for assault. If this happens in the street, then it's a wrap and somebody is be arrested. In a game of controlled violence and mayhem on every play, the line of what is honest, hard fought competition and going over the edge, can be a sizable one, a line that allows for often giving the player the benefit of the doubt with emotions running high. Usually an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the offending player and you move on to the next play. But with this, there is no mistake, no excuse. He was suspended for the rest of the year but Pouncey should immediately appeal his suspension to the league, as his response was in coming to the rescue of his teammate and quarterback. I guarantee you, among his fellow NFL players, there is no one being held with greater respect, particularly with other fellow offensive lineman throughout the league, than Pouncey. And the players for the Browns, after beating Pittsburgh for the first time in a long while, have their victorious moment forgotten due to the actions of their teammate as the only thing being talked about is the fight at the end. Naturally, CBS, the network that shows AFC matchups, will be leading the charge in the build up for the rematch in Pittsburgh, with all the over the top hype of a used car salesman in the hope that it will draw a larger than normal audience share. They will most likely feature that game in more media markets than it normally would draw.

  17. And the after aftermath, comments by the players. PS. They meet again in 17 days time, could be a good fight match to watch. I wonder if Garrett will be there.

  20. Here is one of the reasons why I dont think Bejing would dare to use PLA troops in HK. If Beijing puts troops in Hong Kong, Washington should suspend the city’s trade status, US commission says https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3037805/if-china-puts-troops-hong-kong-us-should-end-citys-trade At the moment, Beijing still needs HK as financial and trade hub. And concerning a curfew...no way. How can they enforce it if 10,000 demonstrators challenge it ? Shoot them ? This is not Thailand.

  27. The death of Mike Jones-Mathias bothered me a lot. It seemed absurdly tragic that a Gulf War vet should lose his life over something as trivial as a bill in a go go bar. Although we don't know exactly what happened in the bar, Jones-Mathias posed no threat to the Thai bouncer and the force the bouncer used against a much older man was way out of proportion. This case reminded me to some degree of the stabbing death of a taxi passenger in Bangkok over a 51-baht fare. A lot of visitors to Thailand don't seem to realize how fast things can spiral out of control in what's called the Land of Smiles. The taxi passenger not only got out of the cab without paying the 51 baht because he thought the driver had rigged the meter, but also threw a cup of coffee in the driver's face. That by the wildest stretch of the imagination by no means justifies the stabbing, but it's also true that if the passenger had paid the fare and drunk his coffee, he'd likely be alive today. The following video is another indication of how wrong things can go in LOS. It's been posted many times, but serves as a classic example of what not to do when disputing a bar bill. The farang in the video could easily have been killed, especially when the Thai guy stomped his face. Pounding the counter is what set the Thais off. I'm not saying anything that the members who post on this level haven't heard before. But visitors to Pattaya with less experience may not be aware of what can happen if you use the wrong approach in a potential conflict situation. I put a post in the Holiday Chat thread called Resolving Everyday Conflicts in LOS that could be of use to someone who has never been in Thailand before. I think it is important to remind newbies that there's nothing to be gained and a lot at risk by aggressively "standing up" to Thais in minor conflict situations. Outcomes that are largely unimagineable in the newbie's home country can and do happen in Thailand. The prime directive has to be to avoid physical confrontations while you're here. Evil

  29. Time these dissidents were pulled into line by the Government. They are achieving sweet buggar all.... they are turning everyday citizens against them who wanted change but were prepared to use the means of peaceful protests and negotiation. All this violence is to no avail.... all it is doing is playing into the Chinese Government's hands. If these people truly believe that this is the way to go..... get the masks off.... be open with who they are and what they stand for... because at the moment they are nothing but violent hooligans who stand for nothing but mayhem. cheers

  30. Years ago I used to visit Pantip Plaza alot and I noticed a Top Charoen Optical store near Ratchathewi BTS. I thought I'd drop in and get the prescription checked on the zillion dollar tough as nails, light as a feather titanium frame with the triple coated Hoya lens spectacles I'd bought when I first noticed that my arms were no longer long enough to be able to read. On entering I was greeted by the smoking hot female in the tight fitting white uniform. Despite her best efforts to sell me some new spectacles I finally convinced her that I was only interested in some new lenses at best so I was led out back where a young fellow, also in a white coat but nowhere near as attractive, was stationed with all his Canon eye testing equipment just like in Australia. So he checked my eyes and yes, the prescription was off a bit. So after calculating a new prescription I was asked if I wanted the 600 baht cheap charlie lenses or the triple coated Hoya lenses like the ones I already had for 1800 baht. I opted for the Hoya lenses. Deal done, I was expecting to be asked to come back some time in the future like in Perth where the Hoya lenses are cut in Sydney and take two weeks. But no, I was ushered into a lounge area and invited to help myself to ice water, coffee etc. After about 30 minutes the ubiquitous M/C taxi rider appeared handing over a small package. After a few minutes I was again invited out back and offered my spectacles to try while the young fellow held up a card for me to read. The look of disappointment on his face when I uttered not a word. Then the smoking hot female in the tight fitting uniform suggested he turn the card over so I could read the English instead of the Thai and all was good. I don't know if it was my original zillion dollar tough as nails, light as a feather titanium frames or the triple coated Hoya lenses instead of the cheap charlie lenses or that the guy took the time to properly fit the lenses to the frames but those glasses lasted me several years without any problems until I had my cataracts removed. After my cataracts were removed I, of course, needed a new prescription which the ophthalmologist gave me although he said that as my eyes were now perfectly matched I could probably just use cheap reading magnifiers. I got the new prescribed lenses, triple coated Hoya which still took 2 weeks to come from Sydney as well as buying a boat load of cheap x2 magnifiers which I still use to this day. I just dug out the zillion dollar ... with the Hoya ... spectacles and compared them to the cheap as chips magnifiers and from a visual acuity point of view I can't tell the difference. And now, the vision of this video is slightly fuzzy, It's not your eyes. A sharper version f***d up the punch line.
