Getting all excited because I finally got to get a sign for the bar on Walking St. Should be at the bottom Of Soi Diamond, not sure exactly where. It’s too far away from the bar to run an electric cable so it’s solar powered. Still waiting for the solar panels so it will be a few days before it’s erected. The sign maker sent me this photo First one to publish a photo of it on the street gets a free beer.10 points

for many of us it was "home from home" in pattaya for a long time, for me that was during the early Larry Era. things changed, i stopped going. but had it not been for Shhh i would have got into a lot of hassle I am sure. made a few good pals there , incl. Robbie, who put me on the line and showed me the truth behind the veil in many issues in thailand. I am sure it wil reopen as King Hotel and the Lobster bar, but then again, many of the staff always smelt of fish anyway5 points

+1 Very sad indeed. My condolences to the nice young North London / Arsenal man who used to do all the bookings and always leave six cold San Miguel Lites in the fridge for my arrival. Blimey ...genuinely feel sad just now. Stayed there over 50 times all booked via the nice young man. End of an era for sure ........5 points

I am reliably informed that he discovered his original 2006 Honda Airblade in a shed where it had been for the last two years. Absolutely covered in all manner of crap and thus looking a complete mess with two flat tyres. Like the nice young man it cleaned up nicely but has a list a mile long of relatively minor items that need attention or replacing and most panels need a paint job although they are sound. Engine started, eventually, and also needs some routine maintenance. So, item 1 of project post Retirement. 😀3 points

Said I got a cheap flight over and I’ve Got a 9 hour wait in Dubai. I’ll say delayed more because that carry on with Iran 😂 Staying in that Areca lodge , first time staying here. Place is like a maze, don’t fancy my chances of finding my room at 3am pissed 😀1 point

Well, I just watched 2 1/2 episodes and turned it off. It does nothing for me, I mean the scenario is confused, I can not find a real thread or suspense. The acting is OK, but again nothing special for me. No need. Baht bus on Second Road on reaching Dolphin Circus will either turn onto Naklua Road and onto market. If it turns left to go on Beach Road get off and walk to Naklua Road, then get baht bus there to the market. Return baht bus down Naklua Road and onto Beach Road.1 point

Would always stay there for either a portion or whole trip once I discovered it in 2011. Must of stayed there 6 or 7 times.Things change but I have great memories of the bar and hotel. All the best for the future Dan.1 point

No, of course not, that would require foresight and planning, and it seems that the Thais can usually only do things by knee-jerk reaction, lol. You don't even have the option of paying for a plastic bag as we do in the UK. Just BYO or pay over the odds for one of their crappy reusable bags (that are probably made from the skin of some endangered species anyway).1 point

Phil, Let me tell you, you can't make money selling any food to expats in the current climate. We had a unique space in the market and honest truth, we never lost in any month. But, it's too much like hard work, backstabbers everywhere. Cheap Charlie's everywhere. Some nights we did 4k others 12k in a takeaway. Bar restaurant some nights 25 to 40k. But the outlays are massive, Thais absolutely USELESS I every aspect of work. Here in Scotland an average Chinese can do £1200 to £2000 a week top about £800 to £1200 profit from a hole in the wall operation. Some can do much more. If you use just eat you can take £5000 a week here easy. Farang food is not worth it. Pattaya is full of sex, drug, alcohol addicted cheapos. Plenty decent folk too but not enough to go around.1 point

And its good to see a beer going for under 50 baht again...Many bars on Soi Bukow are taking the piss and charging 55 baht for a beer now...This is outrageous....15 years ago I was only paying 40 baht for a beer......1 point
