  1. Am currently on this side trip to Angeles first ever visit. Will do a trip report when back in Thailand. Its been an eye opener. The poverty is extreme to say the least. Only thing that is expensive LDs from Go Gos with an equivalent price of 215 Baht (350 Peso) a pop. It adds up for sure I'm taking top end Go Go girls and maximum all in price has been 2150 Baht equivalent (3500 Peso) and stand on me they are in no hurry to leave lol. Its a full one day if thats what you want Will report it next week

  3. That's one of the main reason I don't have cable TV. Reality TV and the other crap shows on network TV makes me cringe. I don't really give a shit about what Kim Kardashian is doing on a hourly basis, who's the next bachelor is or who's dancing with the stars. These people are not celebrities but rather media whores who have duped the low IQ people into believing they are somebody. The are nothing IMO. I just download movies and decent series and watch them on the computer big screen. I am getting ready to get rid of my TV as I haven't turned it on in 3 years.

  7. That news article doesn't instill much confidence when stating "they currently have 264,000 cubic meters of water" as water capacity is measured in million cubic meters (MCM). And even if they got the units wrong, there's no way the combined total capacity of the area reservoirs is 264,000 MCM. To put into perspective how small 264,000 cubic meters of water is. We have 15 weeks until June. That means the weekly water consumption rate to make it to June would have to be 17,600 cubic meters/week. One Google source states the average household use of water is .78 cubic meters. So 17,600 cubic meters of water/week would supply at most 22,600 households. From Wiki, a 2010 census put the population of Pattaya, which doesn't include tourists at 320,262. That is about 127,088 households using an average of 2.52 people per household. So I call BS that we can make it to June on the available water. The only way we're going to make even to April is if the city supply also uses bore holes to tap the aquifer.

  9. Had a nice ride out to Huai Chak Nok Reservoir today. The water situation is looking pretty dire there too. Google Earth view of the photo stops today. I've also noted the change in the water's edge since the last update on 28 December. Pic 1 Pic 2 For comparison, pic from 28 December Pic 3: Workers taking advantage of the low water levels to dig a channel into the shallow part of the reservoir. Should help in future draughts as they won't have to set up pumps to get the water from the shallow areas into the main body of water. Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6: Interesting erosion lines and rock structures in the exposed lakebed. Pic 7 Final pic is looking at the south end of the reservoir on the other side of the road.

Great hotel for sure.. Yeah perhaps you are on to something here, Rachanee is a gamer, she would for sure trying Skiing. Lucky you to have been part of that experience on a sail plane. Damn 76k feet up in the air with no motor? I can imagine how cool that would be if I had any balls huh? LOL! Thanks for your inputs on this.

  12. Walked along Soi 6 this evening on route to Bella Italia on Second Road for dinner. Soi 6 was not deserted but was very quiet; Bella Italia inside was full and we had to wait to be seated.

  15. I set up a direct debit 8 years ago to pay both the leccy and water bills. PEA was easy and done within a few weeks, but the PWA took close on six months to process the paperwork. Well worth it in the end, though, never a problem since. I opened a new savings account with SCB specifically for this purpose, the idea being that if I was to sell the house then I could settle the final bill and clear any remaining money out of the account so the PWA and PEA couldn't "mistakenly" continue charging me for the bills after I've left. Happily I'm quite content with my bungalow and have no intention of selling, but it was a sensible precaution I think.

  20. I would tell Rachanee to go for it, but I would recommend she try skiing before snowboarding. Learning on skis is a bit easier than having both feet locked onto a single board. Plus learning on a snowboard you tend to land on your butt when you fall, meaning she'll be walking around with a sore ass for a couple of days afterwards. I did mountain wave soaring out of Minden. One of my fondest memories from my time as a sailplane pilot. Getting through the rotor was hellashish, white knuckle flying, but once through the rotor wash you get into laminar air flow and it's the smoothest ride up you'll ever experience. A sailplane made it to 76,100 ft using mountain wave off the Andes Mtns in Argentina. I made it to 18,000 ft and could have gone higher, but the battery for my radio lost power and I couldn't contact ATC to open a mtn wave window.

  25. Yeah young and in Calif in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with a blonde, what's not to like huh? LOL! Those were the days.........amazingly the Lake has held its own after 50 years, yep remember the time when we first moved to Calif, 1969, Mom and Dad took me and my Brother to Lake Tahoe. 13 years old, we had to stay outside of the casino, and watched Mom and Dad from the windows outside pulling the slot machines! Mom passed away this past Dec, she was still talking about the time she saw " Elvis" there in 1971 at the Sahara Casino/Hotel which is now The Hard Rock. Great, oh yeah HWY 89, went there summer in 2016 with my wife and just recently last week with a trip around the lake. It can take some time as people just love that drive. That is a beautiful part of the lake and lucky for you, sounds like you had a nice place there to bring up some kids. I was thinking about you, if wifey was not around, would have asked one of the Pinay beauties on her break to let me take a pic or two... Thanks buddy, yeah I was just talking to her last night about Yosemite, she just really likes being in the mountains around here, none anywhere near her home obviously. I would imagine that having a Harley around summertime up there, would be just outstanding. Perhaps a trip there or another possibility might be Yellowstone? We'll see. Whoa.....if I told you I might a candy ass for this adventure, would I still get some respect? LOL! Have you done that? Rachanee asked me if she could try to snowboard? I said next time. Me? I do not want to screw up any ligament or meniscus damage to my knees at my age. 35 years in Tech, I want to be able to enjoy retirement and walk around and not walk with problems going forward. Snowboarding/skiing is for the younger guys. @Steelers4Life Ted, forgot to mention to you, went into the Sports book at Harveys. Was looking at bets for the 2021 Super Bowl. The Steelers were 18 to 1, The Rams were 25 to 1....not great, but the Redskins and the Bengals were 100 to 1 to win it all. Jared Goff will be MVP next year LOL!

  27. Had been thinking about that, even when we were leaving end of Jan loads were wearing masks at Swampy, staff and customers. The wife's mum had given her 3 masks for us, I couldn't be arsed wearing it, missus took hers off after half an hour as well. What's it like in Pattaya, loads wearing masks? I know the Thai health minister made a rant and then retracted it about farangs not wearing masks. f***d if I want to be wearing one of them in June/July when it's blistering hot as well.

  28. The silence has been deafening from govt officials about measures they have or intend to put into place to conserve water. If they are limiting water via outages, it sure would be nice if they would publicize that so we can plan our water use accordingly. But seeing as how Thailand is so keen on putting their best face forward to the world, that's probably why they're being tight lipped about the draught. I also wonder if that's why the Weekly Water Situation report hasn't been updated for over two weeks now. Based on the reports that have been published, my back of the napkin estimate was they had about seven weeks of water left as of 31 January. As for the source of water for the trucked in water, it's like when you eat a hot dog, you're probably better off not knowing the source. But since you asked, I see them filling up at various scum filled, smelly brown water ponds that are scattered throughout the area. It's water I wouldn't even want to wash my feet with.

  29. It is very disappointing that nothing appears to be being done to conserve water. At the very least, I would have hoped my condo management would have put up signs asking residents to limit their use of water as much as possible. Also, I would have expected for there to be a ban on water features, such as the one at Central Festival. Where does the trucked-in water originate from? How long will that supply last for?

  31. I was talking to a pal on Facebook earlier and some guy on his platform has been quarantined with suspected coronavirus. The guy who is suspected of having it has just returned back from a holiday spending time in Bangkok and Pattaya My pal said its either coronavirus or the guys got aids as its common knowledge he's been firing into the ladyboys for years on his visits to Thailand😀 https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/news/scotland/oil-rig-worker-tested-for-coronavirus/

  39. Back to my little bare feet place for my dinner. As I like spicey food, they always ask how hot. This time I said very hot. When it arrived and I see how dark the sauce was I knew I may have bitten off more than I could chew. This blew any remaining cob webs out of my sinuses. A touch too hot to enjoy but I needed to find my boundary. All the staff watched while I waded through it. Lol.
