  1. Love or hate the man, he is the elected leader of the UK, and given the circumstances, probably the most important person in the UK at this time and arguably perhaps anytime post WW2. Him being in ICU is big, big news. Have to say I have a bad feeling here, hope to God i'm wrong, c'mon Boris, fight this fucker and get well again.

  2. Nick didn't think that through very well. If he had any common sense, he'd be home right now. I can't muster up any sympathy here. I think some of this story is missing like how he knew it was time to leave but tried to squeeze more holiday in but it backfired. Buying all those flights only to be cancelled is baffling to me. Wonder how long he waited between purchases. Jezuss!

  6. Arrived in Cambodia mid March....I think the writing was pretty much on the wall by then.We were going to fly to Thailand in February but cancelled due to the lurg.I know they're British citizens but surely the government can't be responsible for people who exhibit no common dog f**k?

  8. Like most of you who are involved with a Thai gal, have very few Issues. She's pretty laid back, up for anything really. Likes new experiences etc. Show her some common sense respect and some love and it can be pretty good. She did tell me a few months ago " Sometimes you're kind of lazy" I don't think she really meant it I have a "mancave" too where I get to look at sports, forums, watch my 401k sink etc. LOL! I have friends here too and god only knows how they put up with who they are involved with.

  13. The British government and their respective embassys have been fantastic in organising repatriation flights all over the world. There has been plenty of warning, Brits were told to get home if they can, same as yanks. I have no sympathy for Nick whatsoever. Sounds like a typical member of the 'what do you mean no' generation.

  18. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11329263/kyle-walker-sex-party-hookers-coronavirus-lockdown/ Some council estate brass was paid to travel with another brazilian escort to Kyle Walker's apartment for a sex party. She then took secret photos of him and sold the story to the Sun newspaper. Now shes in the sun claiming that Kyle Walker is a hypocrite, sorry sweetheart you are the one that left your home for a non-essential reason, not only is she the hypocrite, but a grass. Taking his 2200 quid, taking photos of him, then grassing him to the papers. What a low life slag.

  19. Based on the fact you can't actually legally own any land here in Thailand buying a house for me if i was single would be a non starter, it would have to be a condo/appt which i would'nt want to buy for the reasons i stated and the fact i don't want to live long term in a condo/appt. I know many single expats who have circumvented the rules by setting up a Thai company and put the house in a company name, fine for them but i would'nt be prepared to spend a few million and then have the Thai government confiscate the property which one day they could well do, TIT I paid for our house which is in wifey's name and we are now very happy living here, our neighbours are all good people and we get on like a house on fire, i just could'nt see us living in a condo/appt for 12 years, it would be purgatory for us. After 13 years of marriage and putting up with me wifey more than deserves the house as some security for her future along with the 50% widows pension she will receive on my death but she reckons when i'm gone she won't want to live in the house anymore and will sell and keep half of the proceeds and give the other half to my sons, i've told her that is a decision for her to make, she is under no obligation.

  22. Yes, I think you are right .... Pretty hard for me to have any sympathy for people like this ... and then on top of it for them to " expect or demand " their government to step in and rescue them ... If Nick and his friends had even a small part of a brain they would find a nice place on the beach / sea in Cambo ( Sok San, Coral Beach, Koh Rong Samloen, Kep Beach to name a few ) and ride the storm out .... without a care in the world

  23. He arrived in Cambodia in Mid March; that of course does not indicate the date he first arrived in Thailand. Additionally it does not indicate whether the couple had a return ticket back to the UK; that said nothing to suggest they did not. As I understand it, passengers transiting through Bangkok airport do not require further documentation if the flight they enter BKK on lands within 12 hours of the departure of their ongoing flight. It looks as though they intended to enter Thailand and for this a certificate that they have been tested for the virus with a negative result and a fairly precisely form of medical insurance are both required. I also suspect that they flew to Cambodia on a sepparate ticket to their main flight into Asia from UK. Leaving Thailand during this crisis is risky. There was a story that did the rounds a couple of weeks back when passenger(s) flew from Malisia into Bangkok and were refused entry. On arrival back at Malasia they were refused entry there too, I have only been back in UK for less than a week. I was rescheduled by my airline onto another airpline. Whilst contacting the airline was difficult it was possible by a chat line and once through it took less than two minutes for the operator to re schedule my flight. There are flights available from Pnomh Penh to LHR, mainly Korean Air over the next two weeks, but of course if booking a new one way flight there is a significant cost. There is a lot of unknows about Nick and his flights but whilst I have sympathy for him I think he has not acted wisely.

  31. Martin Lewis' advice was to take a full refund. No garuntee every airline will survive this, could be a few mergers, no garuntee they will honour rebooked flights or vouchers.

  33. Loving this tonight, I asked her to cook one of my favourites, Kung Pao chicken. This is the Scottish Chinese restaurant version, deep fried battered chicken, cashew nuts ( no have she used peanuts) onion, chili, green pepper and carrot and pineapple. Very lovely flavours, the sauce they mix a restaurant made sauce with 2 off the shelf sauces. All done very similar up here. Munching it down with home made chips. Put it in a takeaway container for the photo, dumped it on top of my chips and scoffing it.

  34. As a guy who is about to come off a doctor's recommended quarantine these past 2 weeks and get back to work, I guess the biggest bugaboo for me has been the complete absence of any live sporting event to watch. No NBA, no baseball, have no idea what ESPN has been doing to fill the time, I get tired of always watching these sports debate shows....same same with all of them.....as a sports fan, it has been hard. I found myself channel surfing throughout my Direct TV OnDemand and checking out channels I've never bothered with before but curiosity would get the better of me. I wound up watching a decade old reality show starring Denise Richards, a former Bond girl from the days when Pierce Brosnan played 007 I believe. After watching just one episode, it's no wonder Charlie Sheen divorced her!

  37. I don't plan on moving over full time , it's still a holiday destination for me , albeit one that I intend to spend around four months of the year in I'm not sure I could spend that time in just one place , on my holidays I like to move around neighbours ... in a condo block you can't choose who lives next door to you - the place might be let to Air BNB types in perpetual holiday mode with no consideration for others ... at least if you rent you can move on ... same for the upkeep of the building / facilities if you are not happy easy to find somewhere else visa rules - keep changing On the other hand ...it would be nice to have a base , where you could keep clothes and home comforts , plus it would encourage you to not go out every night ( hotels rooms can be claustrophobic after a while ) next few years I think it's hotels for me , I might look to rent a condo in the future , but I'm pretty sure I will only ever rent ....

  38. Around Pattaya I would agree. This is the place I've been renting for almost eight years for 17k/month. Friend just rented a house a few doors down that is of identical design and quality and got a good deal at 15k/month. I'd also add from my experience, and from what I've heard from others is once you establish yourself as a good tenant, rent increases are pretty much unheard of.

  39. No real sympathy for him , does he have a house in the UK or Thailand he can sell ...? I know insurance for an 80 year old wouldn't have been cheap , but a few hundred quid would have saved them 000's ....
