  1. Friday saw a huge queue outside our studios , about 1000, for free food. helping us was the inimitable Mr. Egg, le bub, who has been out to us twice to help for free. When you wonder about people standing in line for 4 hours for food, which has to be proof they need it, both I and Egg were totally fucked after just 90 minutes of handing out the bags, milk and water. Whilst my health isnt the best, I was seriously concerned for Egg as he crashed at the end. the heat got to him as it did us all. Scrambled for sure, and you gotta love him, sat with his head in his hands trying to recover he had been an amazing help to us. just goes to show how hard he worked. ( I sat watching of course i dont do manual labour ;) ) Thanks Phil.. superstar mate. cheque is in the post

  2. Good on you both. Here as in Pattaya the food lines are simply heart breaking. And the true heros are those who serve the masses

  5. Just finishing up re-sizing some pics to send to Rachanee. Am bored like alot of you, trying to keep sane and busy. Spending a bit more time in the morning on the Internet, that lead to buying a new lens that I didn't really need, but was used and at $149 a good Canon lens to add to the collection. Thanks to Trumps "stimulus" money, that was my justification LOL! Of course wifey has been buying alot of clothes, heels on line with some good deals also. Another trip to put my new purchase to the test at the Rose Garden yesterday.....there were a ton of beautiful Vietnamese girls out there yesterday dressed to the "nines" Warm spring weather is bringing out alot of people here, 82 degrees yesterday, perfect. Hoping to get back to Bangkok in Dec if possible, wifey's niece is graduating from Engineering School....not sure if Swampy will be open then.

  7. When I came to Pattaya it was to retire but after about 1 year was offered a job and could not refuse. I came with what I thought would be enough funds to get me to 62 and i would be getting my SS so figured all good. That really did not work out friends tried to convince me that I could live so much cheaper up country somewhere and am sure they were right. I told them Pattaya is where I want to be around the action and partake if i choose to do so. Got lucky with work and never had to think about leaving.

  8. They are hardly going to report on farlangs feeding large numbers of hungry Thai's because the local Thai authorities are unwilling , surely not unable, to do so themselves. The ultimate loss of face.

  9. Article in the Bangkok Post this morning. "Pattaya City administration has allocated a budget of 70 million baht for a feasibility study project" Thinking it's in rather poor taste for the City to be talking about spending 70M on a study when there are thousands lining up every day for food. Shows how fcked up the govt priorities are. Pattaya City unveils plans for nine-kilometre monorail

  14. to be honest I can't wait to see 50% or more of bars and gogos shut down. Call be a c**t or call me what you want, but the over saturation of shit bars definitely resulted in a lack of returning visitors to Pattaya.

  15. This might be one of the signs referred to in the OP, taken a couple of weeks ago. It's on the side of the pump house or whatever it is, just before the entrance to The Beer Garden as you walk south down Beach Road. I think it's asking for inputs rather than advertising.

  16. Thanks for your post Mr. Smooth and I appreciate your comments. There is no disrespect either so don't worry about that. I could do what you suggest, to a point but right now the most upsetting thing to me is that 3 weeks on from my mums passing I've only had a couple of visitors. I fully understand why BTW. Everybody is scared shitless and even I have broken the rules by visiting my daughter and my grandchildren. Just a change in scenery benefitted me. I'm not about to travel within the UK alone because its not permissible. I'll just have to stick it out here at home. Tbh, I've lost my father, younger brother and now my mum in the space of 8 short years and this last couple of months have been the most upsetting in my life. More so because of this C19 lock down. Hopefully I will come out of all this a stronger person...... But I'll have to contend with all the sentimental stuff in between. Right now the only people I really want to be with is my TW in Sweden. Thanks for your really nice post.

  18. They are building Trams in many cities around the world whether people want them or not...The number 1 complaint with trams is that they are slow very very slow....As in walking is just about as fast slow.....Plus they have loooooog wait times between Trams......Plus they slow traffic down. Plus they have to wait at light same as cars...... Pattayas Baht buses are the opposite of Trams......The Baht buses move very fast and there is very little wait time and they are very cheap...... So people would not use the Tram in Pattaya......The only way they could get people to use a Tram is to get rid of the baht buses.... Pattaya has ZERO need for a Tram.........The only real benefit to building a Tram is some one is going to be making piles of money on its construction......

  19. Just finished my first batch of home made hand sanitizer. Watched varied youtube vids and was easy as feeding an extra pepperoni and cheese pizza to Ukguy at 3am. Used 2 parts 190 proof Everclear ( 32 oz..) and 1 part alo vera gel ( 16 oz. ) Mixed together with the help of a paint pattle in an electric drill for 5 to 10 minutes then added a couple drops of an herbal oil to help kill the alcohol smell. Worked great.... absolutely no alcohol smell what so ever.

  26. Fabulous 103FM helps the needy in Pattaya, gives away nearly a thousand meals and continues to help those in need daily By Adam Judd - Sunday, 24 May 2020, 16:57 Pattaya- The Fabulous 103FM Media group, led by President Thomas Robson, gave away nearly 1000 sets of food on Friday morning to those in need at the Fabulous 103FM office located on Soi Chaiyapruek 2 in the Bang Lamung District. This, however, was only the tip of the iceberg of what the organization has been doing during the current period that is seeing thousands of businesses and people out of work due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus crisis. Pattaya, which is a city nearly wholly dependent on tourism and which draws millions of visitors a year for its world famous nightlife, tourist attractions and hospitality industry, still remains nearly completely shut due to government rules despite not a single case of the virus in the city in forty days. Mr. Robson, his staff and members of the Huay Yai Municipal Staff have also been visiting the poor and needy directly in the most poverty stricken areas of the Chonburi area, directly bringing food and supplies to those who need it most. They have raised food and supplies for many other donations and charity groups around the city to help ensure that while businesses and venues remain closed those who wish to help the local community but don’t have funds to do so can. Here is a great video introduced by Suzi Quatro which explain what they have been doing: If you would like to help Fabulous 103 FM help the needy and unemployed of Pattaya during this crisis, please see the link below: https://gogetfunding.com/fabulous-103fm-food-funding-for-the-poor-in-pattaya-thailand/?fbclid=IwAR2I32Wclg1hap6EInsX1iTGu2UWk6Y3VVlTulv2709uQPjNpzS8pE7nLds Here are some photos from this weekends give away, in which nearly a thousand people showed up, including many children, standing in the blazing hot sun to get a meal.

  27. Myself if I don't care for the staff in a bar I just don't go in there again. As you point out plenty of other bars around. Why get so wound up over individual owners?

  28. Not many visitors, that is for citizens and people with an appropriate visa. Mostly people arriving on repatriation flights. The borders are currently closed, although the federal government are pushing to change this. Those escaping the floating petri dishes (cruise ships) also had to go through quarantine before being escorted to planes going to their home countries or states often to go through quarantine again. There was a major outbreak as a result of guests from a cruise liner, Ruby Princess, being allowed ashore in January/February (?) resulted in over 30 deaths and literally hundreds of cases around the world as they were allowed to get on planes. Given the total death toll in Australia is now at 102, that is a significant %.

  32. Taking into account that trams, like trains, has a nearly 10 time as long distance to come to a stop than a car, and that trams run amongst normal street trafic, I foresee a bloody chaos.

  33. Must be a terrible time to be left alone with your thoughts after the passing of your mum. I'm not familiar with the current travel or hotel protocols in the UK, but is it not possible at the current time to so much as board a train to some other city for just a few days to "get away from it all", so to speak, reserve a room at a hotel or guest house and at least give your mind, body and soul, a "holiday" from the surrounding environment you have been staying in? Breath in some fresh air, see different faces, chat with different people, walk down different streets, view different scenery? Are there even accommodations available now in the UK for what I guess would be termed, "non-essential travel"? If that is a no go right now, I meant no disrespect. I lost my father just a week or so before your mum, and for a few days alone in the house, it wasn't the best of times. But at least I had a job to still go to which helped immensely to take my mind off my family situation. Taking to the road can be just the proper tonic to ease the mind. Hope that time can come sooner for you rather than later. For all of us, no matter what our personal circumstances might be.

  37. I am 50 next year and have planned two months in Thailand ,February and March. I will keep the tickets at this time, but am not confident that we will be travelling freely even by then. I know it’s a long ways away, but you never know what can happen. Im planning a month first by myself, then wifey and the lad will fly down to join me. we were suppose to go to Mexico in March, but that got cancelled so we have to shoe horn that trip in as well somewhere,as the refund was in the form of a voucher to use later. I have a light booked for Australia in November of this year, for my nephews wedding, but am not confident that will be a go either. Opening my gym tomorrow.Had the Island Health guy through yesterday to do a compliance review, and he was impressed at the work we have done to make sure everything is good to go. Down a third members though.Which is basically all of the profit,so we are operating just to stay open at this time. Up to the members to police each other,so that should be interesting. Strange days have come, and you’re gone.πŸ‘

  38. I have come to the conclusion that I'm just going to take the year off. Stay around home and take care of those thousand little jobs that I'm constantly putting off till another day. I will throw in a few little jaunts here an there. But mostly pull everything back in and take care of meself. It's no big deal. Besides it seems that a year just kind of flys by these days

  39. There are many great places in the UK which would be worth visiting once again. As a kid there was just my mother and me and not a lot of spare money however every year my Mother would take us away for two weeks in a Caravan holiday usually somewhere on the south coast of England but I particularly remember Mevagissy in Cornwall. Caravan holidays in England - Fishing off the pier; penny slot machines;building sand castles and waiting for the rain to stop. πŸ˜€ Having said that, everybody we knew did similar. Nobody went on holidays abroard in those days. I recall just one day trip to Calais and my grandad knocking back pints of draft guiness and a huge bowl of mussels. That was the sum total of my overseas travel until I was 22 years old. I was 19 years old when I took my 17 year old girlfriend to a Pontins Holiday Camp at some place called Bracklesham Bay (?) but to keep her parents happy we had to book two separate chalets. Now we never intended to use both but we couldn't anyway because in the bar on our first night all my mates from the Birkbeck Pub suddenly appeared "To use your spare chalet Dan" πŸ˜€ How we never got thrown out of the camp I will never know. It was so good a few years later for my wife and I to take my Mother off to Spain for her first ever flight and holiday abroad.
