  1. I think that attitude sucks. It's as bad as profiteering.

  2. They aren't beggars. They are young women who have fallen on harder times than usual because of the corona virus. You don't kick someone who's down; you help them back up, unless it's your intention to keep them down, like in a street fight. I don't feel any hostility or antagonism towards TGs and sexual service providers, but I have a feeling you do. Your goal is to keep them down, although I doubt you'll find many takers at 500 baht, even post-corona. I don't know when it will be possible for me to return to Pattaya, but when I do, I'll continue to give the girls what I did before the pandemic. Maybe I'll give them a bit more in the sincerest hope I drive up prices and ruin the scene for some punters. That's not how a free market works, but I also know it's the Gaborettes' worst nightmare and I'm happy to play into it. There's a lot more I could write, but this isn't the appropriate thread. And in the case of BMs like Washedup, I'm also mindful of the quote from Robert Heinlein, sometimes incorrectly attributed to Mark Twain: "Never attempt to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig.” Evil

  3. Prostitutes can earn more than highly skilled professionals all over the world. An 18-year-old female high school dropout who's a functional illiterate can earn more in New York City as an escort per hour/day/week/year than a brain surgeon with 14 to 20 years of university and medical school education. The world's oldest profession beats the world's most difficult profession in terms of money-earning potential. An attractive young woman's willingness to suck cock and spread her legs for strangers trumps the knowledge and skills of a neurosurgeon. This is not only true at the top-end of the prostitution scale. A professor of economics did a study of the very lowest street prostitutes in Chicago- drug addicts and homeless women- and found they earned five to 10 times the amount per hour than they could through a minimum wage job. In fact, they earned at least the equivalent of the average wage per hour in Chicago at the time and sometimes double that. These were run-down women, physical and mental wrecks, who gave back-alley blow jobs and f*cked in abandoned buildings. Nevertheless, they found plenty of customers willing to pay for their services. Absolute sleaze is a turn-on for a lot of men. In every country, some form of commercial sex is the most lucrative activity available for women without education or special skills. If it weren't so well paid, no woman would do it. Along with the money comes high risks to their bodies and psyches. Women involved in prostitution run a greater risk of homicide or non-fatal injuries than any other money-making activity, legal or illegal. The psychological trauma prostitutes suffer is also considerable. They deserve every baht they get. Evil

  4. Knowing that a holiday in Thailand anytime soon will almost certainly be the worst one they've ever had, why would anyone even bother?

  6. Here's a perspective of the situation: Many guys, myself included have forgone this years trip and as a result have saved the thick end of 3 grand upwards., plus or minus, but let us not argue over semantics. That's not the point though, what is the point is that many guys would prefer to keep the money fluid in the uncertainty we have in the private sector of the UK at the moment. I've said it before, the money I've saved by not going to LOS has effectively given me a cushion of 2 months, maybe 3 of I'm very careful should everything go south. That , for some guys could be the difference between being homeless and being solvent. Yes, my wife earns good money and can do "private" work if it all goes tits up but as always everything is based upon worst case scenarios. Factor in also, the uncertainty of the restrictions being placed upon visitors. Ok, let us say that joe shmoe arrived in LO, gets the tracking app ,then gets a dose of the Pattaya Flu 3 days into his holiday. The Hotel which temp scans him daily then reports it, he gets a visit and while not being Covid + does give the symptoms which are almost identical, bit TIT so it doesn't matter , his holiday is now f***d and he might well be, like if he was in Cambodia (and I expect Thailand to follow suit) several grand out of pocket because he needs to meet his own quarantine bill, treatment and re arrange his flight home. But Joe Schmoe didn't have Covid+ insurance because it was prohibitively expensive. Joe now has a problem. A problem which can be avoided by avoiding Thailand until it gets back to normal. The higher echelons of Thai society have always looked upon the farang with disdain. It's entirely our own fault, the behaviour of some farangs wouldn't exactly endear them to us. They want rid of us, but , like many unconsidered actions, have not fully realised the consequences. They wished us gone, but were not too worried because they felt the Yuan would take up the slack. It has done so , to a point, the Chinese investment into LOS vastly outstrips the tourist £$ EU AUD, but now everything has stopped, some of the people in the higher echelons of Thai society are feeling a very harsh reality biting down. As the old saying goes: Be careful what you wish for.

  7. @Horizondave Been supporting them since 1984 when i was 10 years old and living in Gutesloh in Germany at the time. Dad was in the RAF. You could only get English papers 2 days late back then, and no English football on tv, so seeing as the Bundesliga was constantly on TV it was easier to support a German team over anyone other team. Back in those days you also didn't have SKY or any other kind of satellite TV either!

  16. Not encouraging at all. More than dozen people caught the virus in one Florida bar alone as soon as it reopened. Arizona, Texas, and Florida each reported their largest one-day increases in new cases. Between early re-openings, riots and mass rallies, the number of infections and death toll of 115,000 will only rise. I doubt Thailand will allow Americans back in the country before the end of 2020, if then. Evil States see record spike in coronavirus cases

  19. sadly, very sadly, i agree with a lot of this. we are seeing interest, finally, in advertising again, which is my revenue. most i talk to DO want to target the expat market seriously. as they know the return of tourism is going to be a long haul. no flicking of a switch. with the chinks now seeing a revival of covid, they are pretty much off the list for a long while unless someone comes up with a miracle drug soon. my worry too is that this will all come back again next winter, from november onward, in other countries and hopefully not here but if it hits here too next time. wow.

  25. Was in Walmart they had retro Schwinn Stingray's in the original colors by Schwinn. Very cool $125 USD. When I was a kid the originals cost $99 USD, which too me was a million dollars and beyond my means. On display was the green one which I thought was very cool as a kid. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Schwinn-Sting-Ray-Bicycle-single-speed-20-Inch-wheels/841993718

  31. I think you and I are basically singing from the same hymn sheet as I agree totally that tourists will not return until the (main) Covid restrictions are lifted starting with the most basic being unrestricted flights. With so many countries depending upon tourism there will be continued pressure to allow that to happen world wide. Already we see traditional European holiday destinations such as France and Spain opening up. I am sure that bars and GoGo's will open up sometime this year as will tourism to some degree but whether punters will be prepared for the (then) "new normal" covid impositions for entertainment venues remains to be seen. My concern is that the first batches of "western" pussy hounds to Pattaya will be so aghast at what they find as the "new normal" you can forget about 2021 completely. There are going to be quite a number of "Under New Ownership/Management" venues reopening but just whether that will be this year or even the next remains to be seen.

  32. Indeed. I read about it earlier today and although it might not prevent all C19 related deaths it is a major step in the right direction for the elderly and most vulnerable. It must be a nightmare for those recieving Chemotherapy at the moment. Not only are they fighting cancer but also their immune system is substantially weakened by the treatment leaving them vulnerable to C19 with little defence.

  35. Some good news for a change A cheap and widely available drug can help save the lives of patients seriously ill with coronavirus. The low-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK experts say. The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus. It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth. Had the drug had been used to treat patients in the UK from the start of the pandemic, up to 5,000 lives could have been saved, researchers say. And it could be of huge benefit in poorer countries with high numbers of Covid-19 patients. The UK government has 200,000 courses of the drug in its stockpile and says the NHS will make dexamethasone available to patients. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53061281
