1. Hello all 247 remembers. It’s looking like we will be allowed to open in some shape or form on Wednesday July 1st. I’m still not sure what restrictions will be on the bars and clubs. There are many rumors, but the actual law will be revealed on Monday. I certainly hope that we can open after midnight. We have an entertainment licence and the business is in an entertainment zone, I pay a lot for it. If I’m not able to open after midnight it’s a huge restriction and may mean making a profit is impossible. But, whatever happens, we will be open. Can’t sit here in darkness forever. Thanks to everyone who has messaged me and kept in touch. Hope to see you all soon. Let’s hope it’s a late one. Phil

2. My recent take on C19 I live in the UK. Just lately, what I have witnessed in my country is appalling. As we have entered a new phase of lockdown easing, things are starting to feel more normal again which is fine, and some businesses resuming trade and many people going back to work with proceedures in place for their protection and the protection of others. However there is a growing spread of people behaving as if it is all over. Thousands heading for the coast and flooding beaches, ignoring the rules. Do they imagine than when they think, ooh wouldn't it be nice to take the family to the seaside on a lovely hot day, that maybe thousands of others have the same idea. By the time that they have driven half way to the coast, they realise that they were not the only ones as traffic builds up. Then despite that they cram into the beach trying to find a space. Then there is the younger element of society deciding that they are going to attend illegal street parties, and justify doing so on the back of political issues. Unless anyone has been stuck in a nuclear bunker, we all know what the Virus is, how it spreads and what we are advised to do and not to do. There is no excuse for plain ignorance Easy to blame the government or everyone else, claim our freedoms are being eroaded, but the simple truth is that COMMON SENSE, seems to still be lacking in many. We are only half way through this Pandemic and for those to think it's over and not use social distancing and masks etc, they may be the first to complain if cases start to rise and the government orders reverse lockdown measures. Who suffers then ? Yes all of us because a few are selfish and stupid Makes me laugh some times when people go on about freedoms and how it is our right to do as we like and how C19 is some worldwide plan to take control. The fact is that the human race is at war with an invisible enemy that does not desrimate between who it attacks. Therefore it would make common sense, for everyone to act together in fighting it. But of course, that is not happening everywhere. It is PEOPLE who will determine what happens next and if the people are stupid and act irresponsibly against the interests of others then it will take much longer to see the end of this Pandemic. Until there is an effective vaccine which is widely available and more successful treatment for worse cases, then we must all rely on basic common sense, avoid congested areas, not go to the seaside, not too on demos, not attend large street parties etc. F*ck me is that too much to ask? It appears that it is. Just as I don't want to drive on the same road as a drunk driver, I don't want to be close to someone who may have a virus that could kill me or others The last few months has been tough for everyone and many never made it. But there is long way to go before we are out of the woods. Not just here but the rest of the world.

3. The reason infection numbers and deaths is well down and the NHS wasn't over run is because of lockdown. It worked, as it did in Spain, China wherever, fact! Currently, deaths in the UK have risen, week on week, so we're at best currently plateauing, unlike other European countries which were in a similar situation. Why? Probably a combination of beaches packed, protests, counter protests, illegal raves etc. Once the bars etc open next Saturday let's hope it just continues to plateau. Anyone who dismisses this just has to look at what's currently happening in the US, where they opened up similar and have just had their highest figures since the virus arrived. Not back to square one, worse! So don't think it couldn't happen. The other European countries that opened up were well down in figures compared to us when they did. Even with that, Germany, Spain, Portugal etc are having reginal outbreaks. The UK had 65,000 excess deaths from March in a 5 year average. That's a lot of deaths. So is it alright because they're mostly elderly or underlying health issues, no, not in my world! Even the daily confirmed infection rates are about 1000 a day. Saturday to Monday's figures are not true due to lag, weekly is best. And that's only the confirmed, the actual figure will be much, much more, people potentially not knowing and passing it on. This virus is not done by any means, overall in the world, it's currently getting worse not better. All that said, people have had enough, every week since start of May i've seen more out each day, more shops opening. Lockdown was only going to be adhered to for so long, behavioral scientists told us this. Personally i'm delighted the economy is opening up, though raging the gyms aren't opened yet. The risk is well lower, again, due to the actions taken. If Lockdown had of happened earlier and harder, we'd be where say Spain are now. They'll be a reckoning when this is finally over, and Boris and co will not come out of it well. The Economy, well, as i posted a few pages back, according to the latest IMF Report, the UK will come out if this better than say France, Spain, Italy, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the US in terms of debt. Indeed, the UK's debt is lower compared to lots of 'well known' countries. Basically what i'm waffling about out is the virus is still in the UK, though the actions taken have curtailed it a lot, the risk compared to the risk of keeping the economy shut has reached a tipping point IMO, well, reached that point at very least a couple if weeks back for me. We need to get people back to work for the economy and also for their own sanity and normality. The ones i really feel sorry for are the children, especially the 'at risk' kids, who are now even more at risk. And i agree the scum Unions are using schools as a political issue to try and make the Tory Government look bad. They got a kicking at the election with Corbyn in December, and are kicking back. Poor kids are collateral damage IMO. But overall in a global perspective, the virus is accelerating, not decreasing. In Europe, it'll be regional lockdowns as required, and every day we know so much more about it, effective medicines, how it impacts the body in different ways etc. We can't become complacent. I don't see a 2nd wave the way some 'we're all doomed' are proclaiming it. I think it will be regional outbreaks that need to be dealt with fast and hard. Oh, and f**k China, cunts need ostracized as very least. In all seriousness, if this isn't a wake up call to countries being so reliant on them, i don't know what will be. And also a wake up call to the dangers of unchecked Globalisation.

11. Hiroshima, the land of the Rising Sun. Such a beautiful city to visit, but you must remember its tragic history, and the part it played in ushering in the Atomic age into our world. The tragic events that happened here must never be forgotten, and be remembered for all time. Luckily, this ( and Nagasaki) are the only times that an Atomic weapon as ever been used in anger, and especially against a civilian population, as Hiroshima had no military value whatsoever to either the Japanese war machine, or to the American invading forces. This was just a show, to show who was the biggest, badass kid on the block!!! WARNING; SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND SOME OF THE IMAGES DISTURBING, and for that i apologise beforehand. This is the view from my bedroom window when i woke up, and no, its not the Radioactive glow of Hiroshima............................ The Children's museum........................... These are the clothes of a young school girl, worn at the time of the explosion....................... Its good to know that Japanese school kids are taking a great interest in what happen here 70 years ago. These kids were everywhere today, and in there 1000's.................................. Now, i don't know if you can see this clearly enough, but you should be able to see a dark "stain" on the step. This is believed to be the "shadow" of a person that was sat on the step waiting for the bank to open, at the time of the explosion. He was vapourised instantly!!!........................... So hot that roof tiles started to melt!!!...................................... A still radioactive piece of material, that the museum let you play with.................................. This is the actual "black rain" that came down after the explosion............................ A human tongue, with black spots. A cause created by the radiation........................ A thousand paper cranes created by a young girl called Sadako Sasaki. Its a very moving story. Legend has it if she made 1000 paper cranes she would be granted a wish, and she wished to live. Unfortunately, that never happen, and she has now become a legend for the rights of children and for peace. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadako_Sasaki This is the group of children, who, shortly after this photo was taken, all lined up in single file, and said hello to me, and every single one of them "high 5" me as they walked past. The teacher was very apologetic for that, but i said it was fine. I really enjoyed that moment with the kids............................. This is the shrine to Sadako Sasaki...........................................

14. We live in a massive "blame culture" world these days, where it's everyone else's fault, the left, the right, blacks, whites as if somehow we are anonymous or we think we know better than anyone else. There is no one to blame for the Virus, although the Chinese are the suspects But WE are all to blame if we do not do our part in fighting the common enemy that has attacked societies all over the world. We, collectively, CAN do something about that, regardless of political persuasion, cread or colour etc.

17. Apologies if this topic has been reported previously, but Kevin, Capt of the Secrets yacht and occasional musician accompanying Barry Upton, has had quite a severe stroke a few weeks ago which has left him temporarily paralysed down his right side. This was in addition to a stoke the previous years Kev is in q nursing hope and today I went to see him. Happy to report that he’s in good spirits, he can barely move his right arm. His speech is a little confused and doesn’t really make sense but he’s definitely got all his thoughts and had a wide grin on his face. The nursing home is on the dark side, near the lake. The nursing staff are great and he’s in a hospital bed in a normal room. He’s been to the bottom of the soi in a wheelchair. Mention to his girlfriend who is just amazing, although I don’t know her and has posted motivating messages all around his room. She goes to see him most days. I wished Kev all the best from all the staff in the bar. Me and my friend Mike we’re discussing how he could claim his UK pension and have it paid into his account to help with hospital expenses. An anyone help with information on this. He also has money coming in from a business he has in Southampton, but nothing from another business partner in South East Asia, who has ignored him. I’ll be going again soon and keep you all informed. Phil

18. Maybe they will maybe they won't. But it makes little difference at the moment and it will be a long drawn out wrangle through international courts. Right now, we should all be focussed on the reality of the virus. C19 is apolitical. As long as world leaders continue to encourage their citizens to act sensibly to reduce spread and science can find a vaccine/treatments whilst keeping their economies moving then we are heading in the right direction as humans.
2 points
19. We've known that since the beginning though ... the idea was to slow the spread , flatten the curve and most importantly protect the NHS , so lives weren't lost unnecessarily, because the hospitals were overwhelmed.... but with the mixed and unclear messages that seems to have gone out the window

20. I think the biggest reason people's attitude has changed is that they now realise that for most people - bar the elderly and those with underlying illnesses - the virus is a very mild illness and not something to worry about.

23. Not just here but in the US and elsewhere, the police have been unable to effectively disband protests and large gatherings without also coming under attack. I have nothing against protests or demonstrations, but these people could not have picked the WORST time to stage them, during lockdown when it is ILLEGAL to have large gatherings of people, whether it be a football match or a protest. If government's had brought in troops and water canon's etc then they are accused of being heavy handed, if they don't then they are considered to be weak. It is the PEOPLE who allow it to happen. Parents who allow their sons and daughters to attend illegal street parties. No ONE element is solely to blame except human stupidity

25. A man returns home a day early from a business trip. It's after midnight. While en route home, he asks the cabby if he would be a witness as he suspects his wife is having an affair, and he wants to catch her in the act. For £100, the cabby agrees. Quietly arriving home, the husband and cabby tip toe into the bedroom. The husband switches on the lights, yanks the blanket back and there is his wife in bed with another man! The husband puts a gun to the naked man's head. The wife shouts, 'Don't do it! I lied when I told you I inherited money. HE paid for the Porsche I gave you. HE paid for our new cabin cruiser. HE paid for your football season ticket. HE paid for our house at the lake. HE paid for your African tour and even the 4 x 4. HE paid for our country club membership, and he even pays my Credit Card bill!' Shaking his head from side-to-side, the husband lowers the gun. He looks over at the cabby and says, 'What would you do? The cabby replies, 'I'd cover him with that blanket before he catches a <deleted> cold.’

27. Coronavirus: Virus ‘found’ in March 2019 Spain sewage Authorities testing sewer water in Spain discovered traces of COVID-19 dating back well before the pandemic broke out in China. Spanish virologists have found traces of coronavirus in a sample of Barcelona sewer water collected in March 2019, nine months before the disease was identified in China. The University of Barcelona said the discovery of the virus genome so early in Spain, if confirmed, would imply COVID-19 may have appeared much earlier than thought. Researchers had been testing waste water since mid-April this year to identify potential new outbreaks, when they decided to also run tests on older samples. They first found the virus was present in Barcelona on January 15, 2020, 41 days before the first case was officially reported there. Then they ran tests on samples taken between January 2018 and December 2019 and found the presence of the virus genome in one of them, collected on March 12, 2019. “The levels of SARS-CoV-2 were low but were positive,” research leader Albert Bosch was quoted as saying by the university. The research has been submitted for a peer review. Dr Joan Ramon Villalbi of the Spanish Society for Public Health and Sanitary Administration told Reuters it was still early to draw definitive conclusions. “When it’s just one result, you always want more data, more studies, more samples to confirm it and rule out a laboratory error or a methodological problem,” he said. There was the potential for a false positive due to the virus’ similarities with other respiratory infections. “But it’s definitely interesting, it’s suggestive,” Villalbi said. Mr Bosch, who is president of the Spanish Society of Virologists, said that an early detection even in January could have improved the response to the pandemic. Instead, patients were probably misdiagnosed with common flu, contributing to community transmission before measures were taken. Professor Gertjan Medema of the KWR Water Research Institute in the Netherlands, whose team began using a coronavirus test on waste water in February, suggested the Barcelona group needs to repeat the tests to confirm it is really the SARS- CoV-2 virus. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/coronavirus-virus-found-in-march-2019-spain-sewage/news-story/313ed779e76e630aec1626a6c80aa7c4

32. Painting almost finished. Been having a few friends round the bar, one by one for chats and stuff. As the bar is my registered address this is no problem. I must admit I have been low on motivation this week. Not seen my staff all week, they just seem to sleep. Leaving them food. Took three days to do a video for youtube but didn’t like it so deleted it. Can’t get everything right. People always asking me about when the bar will open and social distancing etc. All I can say is that nobody has any news and anything you hear is just rumour. Even the mayor doesn’t know. It’s all in the hands of the guys in BKK now. Looking at restaurants that have opened it’s clear that social distancing needs to be either ignored or relaxed before anyone will be encouraged to come and drink again. Many smaller restaurants ignore it, but the big chain restaurants are almost impossible to eat in now. If we ignore social distancing it will be more of a fun place to be in, but this will frighten off many potential customers who are still scared of catching the virus. So it’s a tricky one. Just a reminder, Pattaya is covid free for weeks now. Phil

33. Calm down ffs you're getting hysterical. Did you actually look at the graph I posted earlier? The trend in the UK is going one way, and that is down. There will be daily and weekly fluctuations but that's expected, just like in all countries, not helped by your buddies in London wrecking the place Behavioural scientists? LOL... Give me a break. The so called experts have been so wrong on this it's actually laughable, like when they told us that Covid had a 6% mortality rate, when it's more than likely closer to 0.2%. I can't even be bothered to debunk the rest of that hysterical, guardian induced diatribe.

34. The media has a lot to blame for terrifying the public over a mild illness. Even tonight I seen an RTE reporter tweet 'jump in the number of new cases in ireland'. What was the jump? It went from 6 new cases the previous day to 23 new cases! Hardly a jump. The UK is conducting around 150-200k coronavirus tests per day. There was 890 confirmed cases today, that's in a population of 65 million people. It's absolutely under control now, most new cases are healthcare workers and care home patients.

39. This is one of those emotive subjects as well as a health issue. 1. There are those who won't wear a mask because it upsets their view on civil liberties etc and to wear one isn't an option and they will look way passed any health concerns. 2. There are those who believe it has no health benefit or even a negative effect. 3. There are those who believe it to be of benefit in protecting them as they have been advised by the powers that be and the medical czars that in a balanced view it is a positive action. These are called sheep by certain people who usually fall in to category 1 (especially) or possibly 2. I probably fall in to category 3 mainly because I want to believe our government and it's advisors believe it to be a benefit in not only protecting me but that it 'may' inhibit the spread of the virus and therefore may benefit those around me. I have not looked in depth into the any medical reports and papers in Lancet or any other health channel but I try to look at the balanced view that even if it is not 100% of a protection it may have some benefit. I would probably not normally wear one outside of a pandemic although even in normal times I could see a benefit from pollution or from sitting beside some one with a really bad cough or sneezing fit. I once caught a really bad infection from sitting next to a Korean in a minivan in Phuket, this guy could not stop coughing and I felt very uncomfortable being in the same space. The following week I got a virus or infection that gave me one week of the most sick feeling I had ever had, too weak to go to a doctor even. Maybe, just maybe, wearing a mask would have been a benefit to me. I also see that surgeons wear them during surgery (specialist masks of course) to stop any bacterial transmission being transferred to their patients. They are wearing masks when treating patients and I presume with other PPE and cleanliness actions they see it as preventing their patients getting ill plus in these pandemic times these same PPE will protect those very surgeons/doctors to a high degree even if not 100% (as has been proven). Even if the likelihood of getting Covid whilst wearing a mask is minimal or even unlikely I still see a benefit. I don't have an issue with Big Brother, with Government conspiracies and an issue with my civil liberties, I just see it as sensible and if I get told in a few months none of us ever needed to wear a mask then so be it but right now on balance given what I am hearing I am happy to continue to wear one.

43. You’re not the only one low on motivation Phil. A lot of business owners here are in the same boat.Restrictive openings here, mean that you will be open, simply to cover costs, possibly. Most not.A lot of places saying f**k it,don’t open at all. Was suppose to open my gym on Sunday, but have had so many negative comments about it that I’ve postponed. Have to do a bunch of work this week to make it viable to open, but am thinking f**k it.Sell the gear and turn the space into two condos, which is what I did before, with success. many peeps feel the same. Have had members email me saying that they think it’s wrong we are opening.lol. The missus certainly has t missed going into clean.Might say f**k it and fold up camp. its debilitating not having something of purpose to do,so I completely understand your apathy. Nowt much I can say will make you feel better. So I won’t.
