  1. This is the eulogy to be read by the celebrant at the funeral. If anyone has anything to add please let me know. EULOGY Phil was born in Leeds on the 14th March 1970. He was raised with his sister Louise and Brother Mark. Happy times were had in the 1980’s when the family holidayed in Filey, spending time looking for crabs on Filey Brigg, fishing and building sandcastle fortresses. Phil career was varied and living for a time in Lanzarote meant that he ran a bar but then turned his hand to building swimming pools, a job which he loved. In 2006 Phil returned to the UK and began work fitting carpets for various establishments. He was well known and every one liked him. His friends expressed what a good friend he was and how he always wore a warm smile even on a dark day. He was knowledgeable about a variety of things and was always happy to help at the drop of a hat. Nothing was too much trouble for Phil and even if it was he was too polite to say so. He will be remembered by his fellow tradesmen for his reaction when he hit his hand with a hammer as he would run up and down blowing on his fingers. Phil had itchy feet and didn’t settle anywhere long. He made friends all over the world and in 2009 on a trip to Thailand he met his soulmate Puang. In 2011 their relationship began and I am told they were perfectly matched from the beginning. In 2013 Phil moved to Thailand to be with his wife to be. Puang had her own business renting out Motorbikes and the couple began working together, adding the sale of Android TV Boxes to their empire. In 2016 the couple moved to the UK. They were a couple built on great trust, shown especially when Puang sold her business and entrusted Phil with the money to set up a new life for them both in the UK. In 2017 the couple returned to Thailand to get married. They have been totally devoted to each other for ten years. There is a moment in time when the universe turns itself completely upside down and nothing makes sense anymore. It is a moment when facts become fiction and every truth you ever believed in instantly becomes a lie… It’s when the present becomes the past, your life story becomes a myth and your dreams become little more than childish fantasies… Your reality becomes an illusion as your anxieties transform into fear because somewhere inside you realize that this is the moment you are watching everything dissolve away into nothing… This is what it feels like to lose the love of your life - life can be so cruel. I know that in the days and months a head Phil would want you to help Puang as much as you are able. One of Phil's legacies is a forum he set up for mensimilar to himself who had a connection with Thailand. He was universally liked. Liked isn't a strong enough word, loved and admired would be more appropriate.Phil had over 15 000 followers and dedicated himself to the forum often spending all night on line helping people. Phil loving created the family home in Middleton andon the 29th November 2018 he became a very proud Daddy to Thomas. Sadly two years ago Phil was diagnosed with cancer. Puang, Thomas and Phil have spent every waking moment together creating memories. The day Phil went home for the last timethere was delight in his eyes to be with Puang and Thomas. Andy told me that as they were leaving Phil was helping him with good local information on how to get back to their homes the quickest and safest way. Literally helping others to the very end. Phil stayed strong for Thomas throughout his illness he wanted his life to be as normal as possible and for him to remember who his Daddy was. We can help Thomas to remember his wonderful Daddy by always speaking about him and keeping his memory alive. I hope today you can be comforted by this important last act of love and respect that you have shared in here today. Phil’s life has been like a tapestry into which you are all woven to some extent. The tapestry began on the 14th March 1970 and the threads were carefully knotted as Phil took to his final sleep surrounded by the love of his family; Puang, Thomas and Louise all holding his hand on 22nd August 2020. Phil's tapestry is made up of many threads of memories which, no matter how time passes, will always remain somewhere in your hearts, safely stored to be accessed when you need them.

  4. I met my lady when she was 30 and I always joked that I would trade her in on two 20 year olds when she hit 40. Well she is almost 42 now and she says that at 74 I couldnt handle one, never mind two!! I decided to keep her around for just a bit longer

  7. This sad occasion will take place on the 11th of September. It looks like I may be reading a eulogy at the service, hopefully it will be a much more eloquent member but he has his doubts on availability. If you have a story that could be of any help to us writing the eulogy it would be much appreciated. You can post stuff here or pm as you wish.

From members like @Binlid, thanks mate, and non members like Amex who gave me money back from the funeral flowers which will be put into the fund and Mrs @Horizondave whose friends Patty, Jane and Cartoon have all made a donation. Presently £2953 has been paid out in funeral costs and the £500 cash given to Puang and there is £180 in the bank.

  19. Thanks again for the inputs gentlemen, let me get the "meaningful" shit out of the way here first. Do our significant others look good for their age cause they are happy with us? The security of knowing we got their back and will "take care" of them? Or..............we just got lucky?? Either way, we that have good women at the moment are lucky. Just my opinion of course. I too kid wifey about getting up in age, she will be 50 in 2 years, I told her that when she gets 50, I too will be trading her in for a younger model. She said to me " Yeah right, you are lucky to have me, no one else would have you"???? I don't think she meant that, do you? She has a "dry" sense of humor at times. I give her credit for working out hard, she has unbelievable will power, no sugar/sweets, no sugar drinks like Coke, Pepsi etc.etc. She drinks a ton of water and will have a Corona Beer when we are out occassionally. Last night after dinner, she still ran 6 laps at the High School here and it was 96 degrees. Respect for her. @lazarus Matt, hey just want to check with you and make sure you are NOT going to the same hair salon as Nancy Pelosi! I don't want you to get "set up" I got your back LOL!

  26. As I posted on the previous page, my American friend added me as one of his 5 devices. His account was opened in the US but we BOTH access it here in the Philippines. The Library of available programs we see is very different to what his US friends devices show on his account. A VPN would give you a much bigger choice as you could 'pretend' you were in the US

  27. Just realised that it's 51 yrs ago this year that my brother signed up straight from school and I can still remember going to Oswestry to see his passing out parade and being dead chuffed he'd been made a Lance Corporal. He ended up doing 25 yrs and he's now been out longer than he was in. Scary how time flies now.

  33. Actually, I am not. Personally I am watching the start hoping the Two Ferrari's will take one another out at the first corner but Vettel has given up so unlikely. When that doesn't happen I turn over and usually watch either footy or golf in that order. I then take another peek after about an hour to see how far Lewis H is ahead of the hammer throwers. I lost interest in F1 after the pundits spent so much time trying desparately to find something exciting about one or two stop strategies and starting on hard compound tyres. I realised I had totally lost interest when I found myself hoping one of the tyre change team would f**k up the locking nut and a wheel would fall off at the end of the pit lane just to relieve the monotony. Technology and the cost thereof has wrecked F1 as a sporting spectacle. They don't even sound or look like real F1 racing cars any more. I used to drive all over the UK to watch motor sport both two, and four wheels. Three wheels with sidecars held together with duck tape! Oh, for the smell of Castrol R in the morning. 🤣

  36. Yep. But by the time Concorde flew with it BS had been consumed by RR, they chucked SNECMA a bit of work on it, which ended up with an in service name of RR/SNECMA Olympus 593 Mk610-14-28. 38,000lb reheated static thrust, 43% thermal efficiency, which for many years was the highest produced by any thermodynamic engine of any type or kind. The right now Mercedes F1 engine has 50% thermal efficiency, which is the current record holder.

  40. I respect Namb and Skally, so I thought I’d re-visit a Rogan podcast and started watching the Miley Cirus one. I think it’s just me. I just can’t get on with this guy, his personality. He’s clearly very popular. I had a friend in the bar tonight who loves Joe Rogan and he agrees with all of you. He recons I just hate anyone with flair. So, I’m in a minority of one but I hope you enjoy my podcast recommendations. By the way, I went to ibar last night, first time in years and absolutely hated that as well, so it’s just me.

  41. The problem currently with F1 is that unless a mechanical failure, driver rule indiscretion or pile up at turn 1, Hamilton being the best driver by far driving the best car by far is going to win virtually every race. I watch the start just in case the turn 1 pile up occurs and then ideally watch some footy or golf then briefly turn back a couple of times to see how far Hamilton is leading.

  42. It's a fantastic effort by everyone involved. I was pleased to contribute and it's just great to see what a bunch of guys like us lot can achieve. Congrats to everyone and thanks @Thinkingallowed and @tommy dee for organising it. What we need to make sure of is that Puang receives continued emotional support. At times like this, after a sad loss, all the activity can deflect the mourning process. All of a sudden, when the formalities are complete, it can suddenly hit what's actually happened. Mentally that's the most difficult time.

  43. Andy will do him proud and he is certainly the right man for the occasion. I am humbled by him calling me an eloquent gentleman, a tag I might like to keep even if it makes me sound like an old timer. I just wanted to add that it is likely that I will be moving into a new house in south Wales the week starting 07 September and my daughter will be starting a new school year on the Tuesday of that week. I really want to be at the funeral but presently logistically it is not possible as my daughter will need to be transported to school as well as my moving from London to Wales throughout that week means I can not be in two places at once. What I and my family will be doing together with Andy is transporting Puang and Thomas together with Phil's ashes to the sea at Filey, North Yorkshire where Phil has insisted his ashes are scattered. I will be proud to do that for my good friend. I hope any of you that may have known Phil can let Andy know some stories that will show what a fine guy he was.
