  1. There's a lot been going on behind the scenes here since I started this thread and surprisingly for me anyway there's been some improvements. I was sending emails and talking with my ex boss in England, I asked my sister to check out various other options and also spoke with a couple of people who did the same sort of work that I did before ( HGV 1 driver ). The general consensus of opinion from them was to stay here as the work situation there was terrible now and no-one would guarantee work, the last time I had problems getting regualar work was I think the early 90's ?? In March when this shite kicked off people over there were saying yes there's work available so if I wanted to go back I would / should be ok. At that time no-one knew what would be happening with regards to lockdowns etc so I decided to try and ride the storm a bit. Now it's clear that there's going to be no tourists here for the foreseeable future which is a bastard but I have decided to knuckle down here as it's so much cheaper to live here than England. Just a room in a house where I used to live would be in the region of 400 quid a month so approx 16,000bt and that's just a room, no food etc, here I'm renting a house and paying all the bills for less than 9000bt. +1 for here for starters. Going back to England now as it's heading towards winter would be horrendous, it's 25c here now and I feel chilly, last night I woke up and had to wrap the quilt around me in bed because I felt cold, imagine how I'd feel in England ? There's other things too, my boredom level here is high but if I want to go out for a drink I can do that and not spend a great deal, that would be out of the question back home again due to costs. Same with the gym here, I'm going 5-6 times a week so it's keeping me occupied. Little chance of that in England. So another + for this place and my mental health. So basically I'm sticking it out here, my visa finishes in June next year so I reckon by then I'll either be sold up here and ready to hop on a plane or the lunatics that are fucking up the world will have been found out and locked up themselves and tourism will be on the go again, I sound as crazy as they are now by thinking that !

  2. Been in home quarantine after returning from Thailand. Unable to go shopping so was searching in the freezer. Found a cook in the bag chicken, it had been hiding since Christmas. Turned out pretty good.

  6. Yep it does appear to contradict what I said about the weather before but even so I'll stick to my guns and say I do miss the constant changes in the weather, let's compare to an ex that you had some good times with but you know that deep down although you miss her sometimes you could never go back as you'd soon get fed up with it. Now about the driving, as I've been out of it for over 10 years there's been lots of changes in that time, first thing I need is to get a medical and from what I'm being told by other drivers is that Doctors aren't doing them, sure there are places that do them that are cheap and mobile but again from what info I'm getting is that the DVLA are clamping down on them, also current drivers are being given leeway on their medicals because of the lockdowns etc so how long would that take me to get. Then there's the CPC rules that have been brought in, in March when I was talking with my old boss he told me they were licenced to do them in house, now because of the lockdown they're being done online. So ok I manage to sort out a medical and the CPC and also renew my licence and apply for a new drivers card, god only knows how long that will take but it has to be done. The last work I did there when I was back there was working for mainly one agency and generally working for one or two companies, when there was no work there I'd call other agencies I was connected to and I could always find the odd day or 3 at these. Now 2 of those companies that I worked for are no more, one went bust and the other relocated ( Waitrose and Laura Ashley ), now add in that first thing any agency will ask is for employment history, mine will be good won't it, none since 2009, then add in the fact that yes agencies are advertising all around my area ( Leicestershire ) but as usual with agencies they will get you in their office, sign you up etc etc and then give you nothing. So yes in theory it's coming up to Christmas and should be a busy time but again with all the shite going on over there no-one knows what's happening, the main agency I worked for have been honest and said yes there is work but only odd days, they wouldn't guarantee me full weeks or on-going like they used to do be able to do. Below is a screenshot from my sister in England after I asked her to ring around. So for me the decision was made, it's cheaper to stay here than go back there and maybe have no work for however long. It's also better for my mental well being to be here where if I do start getting pissed off I can head out to any bar near me and at least have a couple of reasonably priced beers, play some pool and just get out of the house for a couple of hours, over there quite seriously that wouldn't be an option and not as much fun.

I have not seen where TS has said the virus is a hoax at all..... he has recognised that the virus it is there and he is just expressing his views on how Govts have handled the situation, reckons they could have done better and some things put in place were not needed or applicable.... and he is not alone in that view. cheers

Anyway, as this oppression is globally admired, I guess in six months we will still being "one more month guys" and I will still be posting FLAT curbs ..... Meantime, f**k the virus, the mass media and the policians.

  17. You're absolutely wasted on this forum Spicy! All over the world from Totalitarian regimes, to Socialist states, to European and Western democracies, all having guidance from their best epidemiologists, virologist, scientists etc, they all have it wrong. Wee Spicy from Thailand 24/7 sex pest forum, when bored after a few bintangs at lunch, solves the biggest health crisis the world has seen in a century. Not only that, but does it with a few multicolured graphs. Tells all us lucky forum readers where they're going wrong. I'm so proud to be a member of this forum

  18. First time i've read this thread, must have been when i was on holiday, refreshingly honest, and some great replies. @mrcharliemofo it's been clear to to me for a while you're not happy mate, judging by your posts and any conversations we have had. And i'm speaking in general terms, not just about the Thai girl where you had a specific 'issue' a while ago. How's things now, thread was started about a month ago by you, is it pretty much the same, though hope not worse in regards to your unhappiness, frustration, situation, mental health, whatever you want to call it. As has been said, Thailand will always be there. And as you have said yourself, i can't see much changing in Thailand in regards to tourists in the next 6 months, at least not for people coming from Europe or the US. So you have to make that big decision, as scary as that may or may not be. Maybe it's not scary at all, maybe you've decided, i don't know. I don't mean scary scary, just it's obviously a huge decision for you, something you are not sure about, hence this thread. But that's natural, a big move, completely changing your life, and moving back to the UK or anywhere during this shitstorm. If your general situation has not improved or gotten worse, whether that be financially, mentally or whatever, then i think you know yourself what you should do. But no one can do it for you, you have to decide and 'do it'. Personally, in regards to Thailand, my first plan was to sell up everything and retire there as a single man. Then that changed, changed for the better, and i wanted to sell up and retire there with my wife when financially feasible. Now it's changed again, though nothing to do with the current shitstorm, but i've decided i won't be selling up everything as any stage, i'll always keep a base in the UK for a few reasons, and do 'long trips' to not only Thailand, but other countries, most likely the winter months. But as they, if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans ....But that's just me, everyone's situation and views are different, and that's fine as well. I just wouldn't leave it too long if things are getting worse in whatever way, it's clear, to me anyway, you haven't been happy for a while. Good luck, and it's good you 'talked about' what's going on. Too many bottle it all up, then it can get worse, and worse ...

  20. LOL. Wow, I had my suspicions but that's incredible. It's not really surprising though is it, people go on holiday to relax and enjoy themselves, a whole raft of bureaucratic measures is just going to put people off. I think Thailand, like the rest of the world, need to accept that international tourism is dead in the water until a vaccine comes along, or, the world decides to change course in how it deals with Covid.

  22. Really bro, this is one of the reasons I decided 3 y ago to switch to "calm pensioners" or "good papa/mama" life. The HKG nightlife in the last year nearly killed me, and it definitively would have done that if I hadn't changed. Arriving at a certain age, even if the spirit is still there, and the mind is 40 y , the body will remind you of the real numbers.... It sucks, it's fucking boring, but I think I found a good compromise here if I want to stay on this earth a few more years. Yeah, yeah, I know...once one starts to use the word "compromise" it says it all....

  24. Under my totalitarian, socialist democratic state regime we're not locked away. we are not required to wear masks we do socially distance I neither shake hands or tap elbows we haven't had a case of community transmission for 6 months we haven't had a death for about the same length of time the pubs, bars, restaurants, workplaces, schools and stadium are open there are no shortages in the supermarkets the economy is going gangbusters the government budget is in surplus the state run electricity company has credited all domestic users $AU600, about 4-5 months free electricity for me and we're keeping the state borders closed and the disease ridden citizens from other parts of Australia out until their totalitarian, socialist democratic state regimes can demonstrate that they know how to handle the pandemic. i.e. no community transmission for 28 days. Expert advice was given, listened to and acted upon!

  25. seen on tv here the average age for the virus deaths in UK is 82.6 the average for all deaths is 81.5. here in OZ its 85 while life expectancy is 82,NO government will admit that they got it wrong, all they needed was the socalled "experts" who come out of the woodwork, like here in OZ and said there would be up to 150000 deaths, and the hospitals would be snow under by cases.only they was wrong,f**k the socalled modelling. here in OZ it never happen we have had 850+ deaths with 99% only mild. the lives that have been ruined by this Wuhan Virus will never be able to comeback.business lost forever, people in so much debt they will never recover. and the arseholes [politicians] want to lockdown at the drop of a hat, look after those that will be killed the most, the age/sick, let the kids go back to school,we have our kids back at school last month or so,i can hear the kids running around up the road, laughing, when's the last time most of you have heard a mob of kids laughing and yelling out in fun? f**k the goverments send them all to coventry, reckon Sweden got it right

I was never asked to go back to approve the funds the second time the first time when I renewed I was but when I renewed last year I was not given a letter telling me to go back and I was told not to bother. Regarding updating the bank book can't you do like I do it just put your passbook into the machine that automatically updates your account for that day with the balance?

  38. I think most governments have gone past the point of no return, in that they are so convinced that lockdown was the answer to containing it they have to keep going that route. If they put their hands up and say they were wrong, there has been a hell of a lot of damage done to people's lives and livelihoods for nothing, and no one wants to admit that. They have never been so desperate for a vaccine as they are now.

  41. Just a note to say I also was with Pacific Cross for a few years before I left Thailand, I found their packages well worth the cost and I got just what I needed. My daughter was also insured, she was added to my package for free. Had I stayed in Thailand I would have added my wife to the package. They were friendly, professional and compared to the competition they offered a good deal.

  44. Spot on. Past 55 / 60 , dont buy, rent. Except if you want to hand it over to somebody .... Can't understand the obsession with ONE country or place.... I see same on some Indo forums...Paradise here, paradise there... Same on some Philipinnes Youtubers... I have a gipsy mentality, everywhere I went / worked / lived, it was just temporary. When I get bored with a place (and I always do after a few years) I move on. It gets a bit harder when getting old, but it ain't a reason to become soft. And a gogo girl is CERTAINLY not a good reason. But to each his own, and whatever floats anyone's boat.

  47. I was so hungry I was already eating this before I thought of taking a snap! A grass-fed Hereford beef fillet steak, with mushroom, garlic and shallot gravy, garden peas and roast potatoes. I bring goose fat back with me from the UK to cook roasties, but I ran out of it some months ago and now I render my own duck fat. The GF buys me 2 kg of duck skins from the market and I get four jam jars of pure white duck fat out of it. Works just as well as goose fat and only costs a few quid, less than you'd pay for a single jar of goose fat back home. Oh well, that's one less thing I'll have to carry back with me when the virus finally dies down.

  48. Message I sent to Sai (Up Country) at 01:46 this early morning. ( Nong is the Thai lady who lives next door and looks after our house and garden whilst we are away. ) The view from our front door at 06:30 today Our Soi doing a good impression of a river! When this happened two years ago both my dogs caught a fish swimming in the road and Sai went out with a bucket !🤣 The back garden was looking a bit damp as well. By 08:00 the tide was going out and the driveway clear and given a wash down. If there is no more heavy rain it will be largely gone by this afternoon.
