  1. sadly yes as this will be the first time in anyones memory that we have not a day of high season. todays norm for business will be the stagnant norm until mid next year at earliest. its frickin tough for all right now, and no amount of cutbacks will help. landlords are back asking full rents, staff want some kind of salary and yet no customers. by mid 2021 I cant see more than 40% of bars open compared to a year ago, if that. sorry to be negative

  2. Others have tried to convince me this is the way to go when wanting to see TV from around the world. I have seen boxes all over the place all difference prices and IPTV service as well at all different price levels depending on what you want to see. My question is why do i need a box ? Or why does any one for that matter? I have been downloading torrents for years using P Torrents. I have always been a donor to their site as it has served me well. about 6 months ago when i went into their web site i saw a Ad for their IPTV service. No box needed ll seen thru the free VLC media player that can be downloaded on line. The torrent site is free but you have to be a donor to get the IPTV service. They walk you thru the process to get started and it is very very easy. I donate 10 US a month or about 300 Baht and get this service. I have seen some services that need a box cheaper and some costing more. It is very good for me I am running PCs all connected to a 55 in Big screen TV as well as a 32in TV which i use as my Monitor. So the TV signal can be broadcast thru either or both. In Thailand no VPN needed and I do not have fiber connection but the old ADSL 50 download 20 upload from True. This service offers you channels in SD HD or UHD so slower PC connections using SD have no issues. I experience very very little problem with Buffering or freezeing when i do i simply click off and back in no problem. I have had this service for about 6 months. Running the 2 TVs I am ale to see 2 different channels same time. Yesterday I watched The Sunday night football game on one and the Baseball World Series sample video below. All PPV broadcasts thousands of Movies Thousands of Porn movies. I have seen guys posting on Facebook about having their boxes updated well thats a problem i never will face. Here is a list of the channels that can be had. after you select the channel group you want you see this Then click the upload button and the file with all the channels is uploaded to your PC and can be viewed thru VLC media player and will look like this Then just click on the station in the group you want to watch. I was teasing Striderman who is a Newcastle fan that I was watching in Ultra HD and he could not see it. Here is a video of the games yesterday he picture looks distorted but thats due the the editing I needed to do here to post it https://youtu.be/0h_n2bJTTww So can anyone tell me why I would ever need a Android box ? 4. One of old ''Tonys'' GYMS..... Remember it's find the towel on the balcony day..... In with a chance of a sunset...at the moment....down me go lads..get ready to get your feet wet.... We'll leave it here tonight lads because technically where I'm going to take you next is not a street or snaps from a street....if you get my drift...I know there are many rules and regs about that are followed by some and not others, and I haven't time to go into all the sub rules as well.... I'm off for a cheapish start to the night in ''Kink'' in LK....(if they decide to open)..125 Baht a bottle but at least there's some scenery especially if I'm the only one there...lol.... So if my last snap doesn't meet someone's criteria please remove and I'll go no further, if it's still there in the morning I'll give you lads a whizz along a deserted Wong Amat Beach and around the bend to the Dusit.............. Thanks for popping by and please can someone sort this not being able to edit your own post .....

  9. Very selfish from not following advice after getting a transplant..... especially since she was a nurse and should have known better. I am sure the donor and the person who may have missed out on the transplant fully supports her selfish decision. cheers

  10. It is very tragic the lady passed away but after reading the article the daughter should have warned her mother before preaching to others. The lady in question would have been in the high risk area whether it was the first wave...second wave...third wave....etc..etc. I see by the article that she had a kidney transplant in July.... 3 months ago. She was also told to stay indoors but decided go against the advice. This is an example of where people are responsible for their own actions and tragically they did not do this. My sympathy lays with with the kidney donor and someone else who may have got the transplant as the lady in question as a nurse knew what the situation was but chose to ignore it..... to me... a wasted transplant to a selfish lady. cheers

  13. If there were large numbers of unreported cases in Thailand then that would be reflected at the very least in the expat community in Pattaya and Bangkok. Expats going down with Covid would most definitely make the news and this very forum and that is not happening. It is very easy to rubbish Thailand from afar but they closed the borders very early and kept them closed. They introduced lockdowns and implemented what we now consider draconian measures but they appear to have worked. Another factor is that Thai's were already used to wearing facemasks prior to Covid so a very high percentage adopted wearing them immediately. To this day I cannot enter any of our three major shopping centers without wearing a facemask, being temperature tested and entering contact details on a register. The problem is going to be Thailand ( and many other countries) coming to terms with the fact that Covid 19 ( as with influenza) is with us for ever. It is never going to go away world wide and from what I read the likelihood is that when the vaccine is with us it will be only about 50% effective. I certainly will not wish to be vaccinated (unless I absolutely have to for flights) until a couple of years has gone by and we see what shortcuts were taken in its rushed production.

  16. Ah yes. The Buriram parade. Well into my cups one night I decided to barfine every girl in Sweethearts who said she was from Buriram. Ended up being nine I think. The next day I realized TW would hear of this so I told her myself. She asked: did I remember to go to dinner last night, and was I sure they were all from Buriram? There may have been other troops other times. As you said - the good old days.

  21. Pattaya will become a more significant part of the expanding Chinese Riviera... Hainan Island; Da Nang, Nha Trang & Phu Quoc Island VN; Sihanoukville Cambodia; Pattaya/Rayong & Phuket TH; Penang MY; Singapore, etc. Belt & Road, Sand & Surf... That's why the Thais are bending over to let the Chinese tourists back in first. They're young, Covid-free & have cash in hand. They're sending a loud message. Just a function of proximity, demographics and the new world order. It's been underway for awhile ...Covid has just accelerated the transition.

  24. I had a meeting at Mots office in Soi Khoutalo ( next to the Gold shop just past the railway line) who took down the basic details. It was Terry Lee who suggested using them as his licenses ( yes, 11 years by mistake) were due to run out a couple of weeks before mine and he discovered that because of Covid they were weeks behind and it had become essential to have an appointment which Mots organised. We both seem to have the same aversion to visiting Immigration etc. Mots got me an appointment for the 5th October and in the interim completed all the paperwork and visited Immigration to obtain my resident certificate which entailed them completing a TM30 on my behalf. On the 5th October they took me to the center and as I had an 08:00 am appointment, along with about 20 others, we jumped ahead of a huge queue of Thai's. It takes about 3 hours to complete the formalities of: 1. Watch the video 2. Perception test etc. ( new guy doing these and he seemed to rush through. I did not realise I had even completed one of the tests before he shouted "Next." πŸ˜€ 3. Queue to pay ( Mrs Mot reimburses) 4. Queue to have photo taken 5. Wait to collect new licenses. Mrs Mot waited downstairs then returned me to her office where I had parked my own car. I could have done all this myself but it is absolute barely controlled chaos in the license center and without a Thai speaker ( who knows what is going on and where to go next) I would have been lost. They took away all the administration hassle and that was good enough justification for me. πŸ˜€

  33. So, apparently all is good. TW told me cute dancer (Golden Time) was asked if she saw me in Pattaya because I was there then (jungle grapevine). She said yes but I didn't know who she was (which was correct when we met). She told them I had her join me for some kow mun gai (chicken/rice/soup) on the street before I left to go shopping. Should I see her again in a bar she'll get a half dozen drinks. I'll still just see the little kid.

  39. Watching MNF right now, was quite the Sunday Night thriller between Seattle & Arizona. The play DK Metcalf made to prevent the DB from returning the interception for TD, was one of the most impressive feats I’ve seen. Chased down a much smaller man, with maybe a 15 yard head start, in about 90 yards or less. Don’t know if DK is juicing or what, but he is a freak of nature no matter what

  42. I got my first, 1 year, Thai licenses ( motorcycle & car ) on the 28th December 2010 - i came to Thailand with an International Driving License ( IDP - issued by the U.K. post Office ). My Birthday is the 25th December. As the OP says, the effective date of the license is the 1st birthday after it is issued, so my license was valid until 25 Dec 2012. I went to renew them both ( upgrade to a 5 year ) in early December 2012, only to be told that it couldn't be renewed until it had expired, so i went back after Christmas, and got them both renewed / upgraded to 5 years. So, 2017 comes around and I wait until after my birthday to go top renew - only to be told that they've changed the rules ! I should have renewed within the last 3 months of the license's validity. Because I had let the license expire, I had to go through the full gambit of tests, video presentations etc, etc. to get them renewed. They now expire on the 25th December 2022. So, I suggest you check with somebody in the know; if in doubt, go to renew early, rather than late. Best of luck The Proffesor P.S. I'm at an age where my memory is failing, so excuse me if I've got the dates wrong. I do remember that my birthday is at Christmas - I think . . .
