  1. If you honestly think it's a bigger problem in the US than most everywhere else, you are either seriously misinformed or just plain deluded...
  2. About half of the most recent entry in Jake Needham's Mean Streets of Asia series of crime novels takes place in Pattaya. A great read... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PGKK584
  3. Jambo a few posts above nailed it. Insurance companies are in business to collect premiums, not to pay claims. They will happily take your premiums for years, then when you have claim they'll argue that something in your original application filed years before wasn't true and therefore they don't have to pay it. Be absolutely straight with your insurance company. Don't give them any excuse to reject your claim or they will.
  4. Sorry, no. It's exactly the opposite. While they probably do have the upper hand in Hong Kong, they certainly don't have it in what everyone is calling the trade war. The Chinese economy has been growing weaker for the last several years while the American economy has been growing stronger. Notice how China's currency is plunging while the dollar continues to gain strength.
  5. Another good way to run NetFlix is using an Apple TV attached to the set you have now. They used to be pretty cheap here -- under B1000 -- and they're a cinch to set up.
  6. You've got a wonderful eye. Some of the non-girl stuff really shows that (but then I liked the Soi 6 stuff just as much).
  7. I prefer Qatar all around. Just a better airline in nearly every respect, I think. By the way, Bloomberg reported this morning that Emirates and Etihad are in merger talk because Etihad is doing too poorly to continue as an independent operation. The airlines first refused comment an then denied it. Of course.
  8. I've always thought Thai Airways is the poster child for the way Thais mismanage almost everything they try to run, whether it's a company or a country. Decisions are made, unmade, remade, and then unmade again. It's an exercise in indecision, confusion, and utter randomness. As a friend of mine one wrote somewhere, "When you fly Thai Airways, always remember that your pilots got their jobs exactly like everyone else in Thailand got their jobs."
  9. Good day, gents. I've lived in Thailand since the early 90's, although we've always maintained a home in America, too. I figure too much time just in Thailand makes you stupid.
