Just common sense tells me this weekend was going to be busy with the bars open.  Most expats want a drink and the opening of bars/go gos etc has got to be a pull.  Trippers coming down from Bangkok or other regions to enjoy themselves will increase foot traffic.

Photos, reports of the state of the same bars, areas in the middle of the week and ongoing will give a better picture.

Would also be interested to know how many of those now in Pattaya bars are guys who have recently arrived, can't believe a lot of these bar patrons are not long off a flight with a 2 week quarantine under their belt. Still arrival stats would be good to see.

I have friends who wish to go as soon as possible but until they have the vaccine they will not be booking a flight just yet.

80k farang have entered Thailand since last July. So I would guess most of those in the bars are ex-pats in Pattaya or other parts of Thailand.

Well the planet needs a population cull and a Covid-19 cull of the unvaccinated might just cull the right targets for once.

Then being denied certain activities like international travel may convince some of the recalcitrant ones of the error of their ways. I can certainly see a country like Thailand requiring a vaccination certificate and antibody test as proof of vaccination in order to extend a farang's long term stay.

And governments or their scientific advisors aren't stupid. They know that while infections continue, even asymptomatic infections, the infected person is a virus factory on legs churning out billions of new virus particles. And given the virus's propensity to mutate it's only a matter of time until the virus hits the jackpot and produces a variant which evades vaccine induced immunity. In fact increasing immunity through vaccination just increases the evolutionary pressure on the virus to mutate in such a way. Sooner or later one may not have any choice about being vaccinated.

The planet doesn't need a population cull, that far-left shite has been spouted for years by mentally ill sycophants and debunked that many times.

    https://www.acsh.org/news/2020/08/05/overpopulation-myth-new-study-predicts-population-decline-century-14953

A belief in overpopulation is factually incorrect. Humans are not cockroaches or bacteria. We do not reproduce exponentially until the food runs out. Instead, as a nation becomes richer and more developed, people naturally have fewer children, choosing to invest more of their time and resources into raising one or two children instead of ten. That's been the pattern in every rich country around the world, including the United States.

Despite this, global population models often projected that humanity would continue growing well into the 22nd Century before peaking at around 11 or 12 billion people and then declining. But some demographers are starting to question this. Last year, Darrell Bricker and John Ibbitson wrote a book called Empty Planet that claimed that the human population would peak and decline this century, beginning in roughly 30 years. Now, a new study confirms this view.

Published in The Lancet, a study from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projects that the world population, which now stands at 7.8 billion, will peak in 2064 at 9.7 billion (95% CI: 8.8 billion to 10.9 billion) then fall by 2100 to 8.8 billion (95% CI: 6.8 billion to 11.8 billion). If the UN's Sustainable Development Goals are met, which include education and access to contraception, the authors project a population of 6.3 billion (95% CI: 4.8 billion to 8.7 billion) by 2100, smaller than it is today.

To be honest Gal... The championship this season is a poor standard. I've watched every rovers game on I follow and although, early doors we dry bummed a few teams we've had some beatings aswell.

Like the look of that lad Chair and the Scandinavian you have there. I suppose we will be talking about the same things again next season as both our teams seem to be going nowhere soon.

Loftus Road the shoebox... My only visit was a night match in the old league Cup early 80s..... Alan fuckin Brazil!!!!

Premier League has been abysmal this season. This is the worst Newcastle side in my lifetime and they are still far better than the bottom three, who may well be three of the worst sides to play in the PL in the last 10-15 years. The so called 'top 6' have been miles off the pace themselves, all look a shadow of years gone by. VAR and the referees seem to be grabbing more headlines that the players.

I was out on Thursday night about 8pm and headed to LK Metro but it was only a quick visit. A couple of bars looked fairly busy, Billabong was maybe 40-50% of what would have been a normal pre-covid night, Time Bar and Fever looked busy, Cafe Racer was quiet, Scooters and the other bars in that area were also quiet looking. I don't do gogo's so no comment on them. I then stopped for one in a bar opposite Areca Lodge as a favour to a mate in Oz that's worried about a bird that worked there. Soi Diana looked dead, I went back through LK and went via the Soi Buakhow end and turned left towards Soi Honey ( Climax Bar was closed up ) and the live music place was busy as was the place on the corner of Soi Honey, bars on the opposite side didn't look busy.

I came home to the Darkside and stopped off in 4 bars about 10pm near the Booze Lounge and in 3 of them I was the only customer, the Booze Lounge had maybe 2-3 customers in there but a girl told me it was busier earlier.

What I will say was that I was really disappointed in the quality of the girls I saw working, there was very very few what I would call stunners working and a lot of older ladies working, again I didn't go drinking in a lot of places but from what I saw walking past I couldn't often say 'wow, that's tidy'.

I wonder if many of the girls have gone back to the provinces? The pattaya news had an article saying lots of Thais have started to pack up and go home. It's hard to know who to believe, one report says the town is busy, and the other paints a picture of a mass exodus.

    🤔

From what I`m seeing on the I`Rover cam its looking quite busy, fair few people in the billabong.  looks like people are coming even though the entry requirements are a bit stringent.

I believe the bars are still closed in Rayong and Bangkok which would have boosted their numbers.

Being the first week end open since the lockdown it seems like every man and his dog went out to enjoy the freedom. Those bars that were open especially with girls enjoyed good trade.

That's great to hear, honestly, hope it lasts as long as possible.

I had a great time at the gogos tonight.   Electric Blue was open and for good reason as the Dollhouse was packed and they needed a place for the overflow crowd.   I found a favorite at EB and was kept entertained in my seat.  Open 7pm to midnight.

Next I went to Fahrenheit to see a favorite there.  It was pretty crowded as well.   I heard that they will open only 5 days a week  ( I think they are closed on Monday and Tuesday).  Again open 7pm to midnight.

For me  nothing beats a gogo.  You can enter and enjoy a show and if you feel like it you can get up close with a member of the staff.    Drink prices don't concern me.   It's more important that I have a good time when I go out than I save some baht.

I don't know if it's true or not but according to twitter and social media chatter, parts of Pattaya were apparently very busy over the weekend, good if true.

I heard it quoted as May today so edged my bets. LOL

That still won't be good enough for the butthurt remainiacs who so desperately wanted the EU to outdo the UK. Unlucky losers, the UK is winning this by a country mile.

    🤣

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand’s resort island of Phuket is planning private coronavirus vaccinations for 250,000 residents in the hope the government will allow it to fully reopen to foreign tourists by October and save its battered economy, industry officials said.

    Slideshow ( 2 images )

“The people of Phuket are losing hope,” Phuket Tourism Association President, Bhummikitti Ruktaengam said, adding that the island’s economy was at its lowest point in recent history.

About 10.5 million of the nearly 40 million foreign visitors to Thailand in 2019 visited Phuket.

The Southeast Asian nation had only 6.7 million arrivals nationwide last year due to its coronavirus border closures.

Foreign tourism revenue in Phuket dropped 78% to 87.5 million baht ($2.92 million) in 2020 with 2.1 million arrivals.

At least 10 Phuket industry associations including hotel, tourism and chambers of commerce have agreed to pool resources to procure vaccines and inoculate at least 70% of the island to create sufficient immunity by Oct. 1 to receive tourists.

Phuket’s population is at least 400,000 and the private vaccination drive would cover most adults before a nationwide government immunisation programme for the public starts in June.

“We are in talks with three major hospital networks to procure AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines,” Bhummikitti said, declining to provide details.

He also argued foreign tourists vaccinated abroad should not have to undergo quarantine.

“They have immunity, we will have immunity,” he said. “We talk to each other through masks. The logic works.”

    Others in Thailand agreed.

Quarantine should be relaxed or eliminated for vaccinated foreigners, chief strategy officer hotel operator Minor International Pcl, Chaiyapat Paitoon told a panel discussion.

Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yuthasak Supasorn, said a “vaccine passport” was being discussed by the country’s coronavirus taskforce.

Thailand, which has recorded 21,249 coronavirus infections and 79 fatalities, will largely use 61 million locally made doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine for its immunisation drive and will use a limited number of imported ones in the early stages.

Probably a smart move on their part as the Buakhao, LK Metro area become entertainment central in Pattaya. Wonder how long WS will last.

It would make complete sense to open a nightclub in the Buakhao/LK area with the amount of bars and footfall from hotels etc. I remember Simon of the Retox was trying to get investors together to open a nightclub before he did a moonlight

Just been on to a friend of mine who advises me that she is being picked up tomorrow by an old boy friend and then going on to another house to meet up with another 3 friends but it is alright as they have 4 sofas in their house.

After telling her that she is being rather irresponsible as she was in a lockdown situation and she is not in a bubble with any of the people she is seeing she said it doesn't happen often. I replied that it only needs to happen once to get the virus. Also considering she is in a post code that has been designated a place where one of the new variants is I think she is mad.

As long as this attitude prevails there will be ongoing cases of transmission and the pandemic won't end any time soon.

I am shocked as I thought she was smart.

Of course she is not the only one who thinks she is being careful and plenty of people take a chance but this is why sometimes the draconian rules should apply as people just can't be trusted to do the right thing.

    Why?

People are allowed to make choices over their own health and well-being, well they used to be.

These virus mutations have been blown way out of proportion. There is no evidence to suggest they are more dangerous than the original variant.

With the amazing news from Astra-Zeneca tonight it's high time we steam-rolled on with unlocking our society so that we can rebuild our economy, and more importantly, allowed the health service to get back to treating other more deadly diseases such as cancer etc.

Feel free to put the rumour here as I have to be honest and say that I know absolutely nothing about the woman ? The only time I went into the old Pooks Bar was in 2007 to watch the rugby world cup final because they had a big screen set up.

Allegedly she was sub-leasing the bars in the beer bar complex facing the entrance LK metro but wasn't paying the rent to the landlord. The barowners came in to open up one morning and found their stock and all their stuff had been removed from the bar. It was then the landlord told them that Pook hadn't paid him any rent in 6 months. She fled town. It's all a rumour so who knows what truth if any there is.
