  1. Red Car was a good spot to pick up FL's older than those in ibar but younger than those found in the bamboo bar.
  2. The Baht is bulletpoof at the moment, nothing seems to be taking it down.
  3. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2042515/sweeping-closures-in-city As a new wave of Covid infections bites, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered the closure of all entertainment venues from Tuesday until Jan 4. The order covers bars with hostesses, horseracing tracks and cockfighting arenas and other entertainment venues including massage parlours. However, pubs and restaurants can stay open as long as they serve only food and drinks, and close by midnight.
  4. I read about a famous thai lady who's name would be known to most BM's. She was subleasing bars on soi buakhao, still charging her tenants rent, then one day they a couple of months ago they came to open the bar and found everything taped off, their drinks fridges empties. The actual landlord who is Thai-Indian informed them that the Thai lady they had been sub-leasing off hadn't paid the rent in 6 months and had skipped town, apparently there is a warrant out for her arrest. It will be dog eat dog in the bar game, sure as hell wouldn't like to be a partner in bar now, watching over your shoulder in case your pal is going to do a runner with what's left of the money.
  5. The vaccine is most definitely the route out of this. Is it perfect? No, but it's what we need to start moving society and the economy forward again. However, there is an underlying issue. A small section of society populated by lefties, anarchists, remainiacs and anti-westerners don't want the vaccine to work, they are besides themselves with rage that the UK led by a tory government is on track to be the first large country to vaccinate its population. The current restrictions are the far-lefts dream, millions on the payroll of the state, the NHS venerated like a God, businesses closed, air travel reduced to a trickle. It's almost as if Jeremy Corbyn and Extinction Rebellion won the UK election. They get to live out there fantasy world under the guise of virtue signalling bollocks about 'protecting the NHS' and other such nonsense. These people will attempt to frustrate and delay any attempts to return to normality, proper normality, none of this pseudo-scientific 'new normal' bollocks.
  6. Watching the snow fall, having a hit chocolate and enjoying my week off.
  7. Like I said before, the vaccine prevents serious illness from covid, and will likely reduce the rates of transmission. Does that mean covid will disappear? No, and anyone that thinks it will is going to be disappointed. Therefore the restrictions must be lifted, and anyone who has been vaccinated should be free to travel as and where they please, a line in the sand must be drawn somewhere, and if it isn't vaccination then what is it?
  8. Great news for the UK. As for what it means for visiting Thailand, probably not a lot. The Thais aren't due to receive the vaccine until mid-2021, and it will take months upon months to distribute, I think its incredibly likely there will be some sort of restrictions on entering Thailand right through 2021 into 2022. How those restrictions change and how onerous they become will be key.
  9. Yep, it has become a victime of the Bangkok sprawl, much like Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan etc. The central belt has been devastated of most of its natural beauty and replaced with warehouses and factories, a victim of their own economic success.
  10. The moderna vaccine is also going to be a great help as it is easier to store and distribute. The Oxford vaccine is being reviewed by the MHRA as we speak, the Thais have bought 26m doses of the Oxford vaccine which are due to be delivered mid-2021. No reason why somebody who has been vaccinated should be denied entrance to any city/region/country in the world. The sooner we start to bring an end to this madness the better for everyone.
  11. At the moment yes, particularly with the difficulties around storing the Pfizer vaccine. However, as more vaccines come online, and as production is ramped up, then it really shouldn't be that difficult, especially for those nations that run seasonal vaccination programmes like UK etc. I think this is exactly it. I struggle to understand those that can't see that a vaccine is our route out of this, if it isn't then what is?
  12. If that's the case the quarantine requirement will never be dropped then. There is no such thing as 'zero covid' and the vaccine will no stop transmission entirely. Therefore, Thailand like the rest of the world will eventually come to the crossroads, continue with the draconian restrictions to limit infections and suffer the economic harm, or accept that covid is not going away and that vaccination is the best form of protection that allows us to return to normal life.
  13. Late 2021 or early 2022, but its all just guess work. Thai PM said he won't open the borders until the Thai people have been vaccinated, Thailand isn't due to get the Oxford vaccine until late spring 2021. My hope is that they drop the quarantine requirement for those who have been vaccinated.
  14. I have to say fair play to the governor of Samut Sakhon province. When he was asked about outbreak among the Burmese community, he told the reporter the Burmese weren't to blame, they lived in cramped conditions and people shouldn't blame the outbreak on them. Thought it was a touch of class when it would have been easy to blame the Burmese.
  15. Strong rumours that a deal has been agreed between UK-EU. Expect the GBP to strengthen off the back of that, some are predicting it could rise 5% or more against the USD.
  16. Aye because Cameron, Blair and May have been proven correct on Brexit. 😂
  17. I would be surprised if we didn't see dozens more cases in the surrounding provinces. Hopefully they can keep it confined to the central belt, though I see some cases have popped up in Phuket and further afield. The last thing business owners in pattaya need right now are restrictions over the festive period.
  18. Samut Songkhram province has tightened restrictions for 14 days. I wouldn't be surprised to see other provinces following suit. Literally couldn't have happened at a worse time.
  19. Well much of Wester Europe is about to enter its third period of lockdown, that's how effective they are....
  20. So the mutant covid strain has been traced back to Brazil. It was picked up in the UK because we are one of the only countries with the capability to track the virus genome, as soon as UK authorities got wind they informed the WHO. That's how its supposed to be down, if only the chinky fucks had down that last November.
  21. It's natural when this sort of thing happens the rumour mill goes into overdrive. The Thais acted swiftly which should reduce the spread. Most new cases in the central belt and all allegedly linked to the market. If other cases pop up in different parts of the country, not linked to the market, then its time to worry.
  22. The rumour mill is in full swing. People saying there is an outbreak in buriram with 27 confirmed cases. Can't see anything from official sources.
  23. Not to mention deforestation. Almost the entirety of central Thailand and the Eastern seaboard has been deforested. Small hills in saraburi completely excavated to make way for megafactories and warehouses. Bangkok for a city of its size is almost devoid of green space aside for small pockets like benjakiti and lumpini.
