  1. I retired 10 years ago at age 53, now 63y.o. I think that Thailand was more accessible to travel to adjacent countries. Had a far better infrastructure. Better wider variety of food. The girls were sweet but they have changed of late understandable as l am an older man now. As others have said its up to you but l agree a long stay as a tryout would be beneficial. Also you never said the nationality of your wife. That would possibly have a gactor in where best to stay. My wife is Thai and l need her language skills almost daily dealing with lifes challenges.
  2. Well l,ve been to the Philippines literally dozens of times but never heard anyone refer to it as RP before. Ya learn something everyday.
  3. It may be that the 6 are available from that particular agent at that particular price. I suggest you look again in 2 months time at the same flight. Purely for education as you have already booked but more knowledgable for next trip. Ps. You never see 100 seats available let alone 500!
  4. Yes of course they will
  5. A sore ass indeed. The Mrs was massaging me as l drove moving one cheek to the other constantly but hurt like he'll. Couldn't,t do it now of course
  6. Excellent App and service. Choice of vehicle types and price. Once booked colour and frg number shown as well as minutes to pick up. Cheapest travel by far.
  7. We had a house built in 2003 in the vicinity of Roiet. First time we went up on a Kawasaki Boss 175cc bike. If you think the roads are bad now you should have seen them then.:) I have lost count how many times we have driven back and forth but in those initial years we passed many fatal accidents, police checks and terrible road conditions poor signage and of course, no Sat navs or Google. Today l,m in Khao San Rd, flying up tomorrow from Don Muang as my missus took the car up 2 weeks ago with the dogs etc. It will be a quieter Xmas and New Year than Pattaya. She has been cleaning the pool ready for me and it's filling now. Happy days.
  8. I feel compelled to write about my observations having read several places that the standard of ladies on the stages have fallen. I,ve heard fat and old and unattractive mentioned on forums. They can,t have been in the clubs l have. PinUp, Baccarat, Sapphire Dollhouse have oll got some lovely lookers. They tend to dance better than the old foot shuffle of past years. Also many have adopted the Filippine style of dressing groups into teams in the bars that change every 15 mins or so. I think it's an improvement on the past, just my opinion. Of course prices have skyrocketed, but fortunately my libido has plummeted with age so happy to enjoy the views. Club Saphires pint of Tiger during happy hour at 74bt has to be the cheapest beer per volume that l have ever seen! Loving living here.
  9. Unless it's changed, l don,t believe they charge you for 1 day. They charge 1000 if you are 2 days over and 500 per extra day thereafter. The only thing is they use a page of your passport for the late exit stamp which can cause a problem for you if you,re running out of space. This experience is from many years ago though.
  10. My recent transfers including 20 mins ago went thru immediately. Always to the same account ie mine maybe makes a difference?
  11. We are in Spain just now and about to go to the casino for an hour then find a Sunday lunch. We both enjoy a flutter and will aquander 50 Euros. Sometimes we come out in profit. Got an owned house in Pattaya and built one up North. Together since 1997 and married in 2010. Some arguments of course but generally OK. 7 years age difference helps l believe. Short times with 25 Yr old now and then works for me with my wife's blessing.
  12. What l find terrible is the younger riders that have died in these sports. 14 and 15 Yr old were killed last year on the racetrack. I mean they are not deemed old enough to frink or smoke or even have sex. There is no second life, they are dead and gone. What a terrible waste of life. Its precious still to me and l,m 61 years. Just finished driving 3700 miles around Italy, fantastic holiday and safely back in southern Spain to plan the next venture. Those youngsters have lost decades of fun for minutes of excitement. A poor exchange.
  13. Neil McLanaghan was 54 yrs died on Wednesday at home in UK. He lived in Pattaya for several years and may be known by some but wasn,t big on social media. RIP mate.
  14. I bought a Seiko watch at the King Power shop on Sukhumvit Pattaya and filled out a form at the shop. Wore it for 3 months and went home to UK with the watch. I showed the paper in the Suvarnabhumi airport Departures lounge at the relevent customs counter and they gave me the cash back. I can,t remember the exact figures but it was worth the little trouble it was.
  15. It seems quite straightforward to me unless you are,nt vaccinated.
  16. I share the frustration Pump having had 3 toyotas in Thailand, l also have a Ford Ranger and as you say all bills are in Thai except for a few English names dotted here and there. Here in England l have a BMW and to be fair if my wife requested the bill in Thai (or even German) i,m sure the garage would be dumbfounded. I,m just happy that all the buttons switches and GPS etc are in English. I think we just have to accept our wifes translation of the bills.
  17. Well done to Boydeste. I registered with Dante which is currently £48. Same procedure. I fly 2nd Dec
  18. Exactly, as Cosyhog says, both Airlines and shipping companies do not pay tax for their international trips which helps bit they will still be affected by the core increases.
  19. My God, as if they didn,t have enough problems.
  20. My father is in a nursing home now but always stated he had the best steaks in his life at Captn Gregs. We went a few times around 1990.
  21. So sad to hear. I think he used to cook steaks and eat them in the bath which l found strange, but that's what wonderful about forums. Never met but felt feel like i knew him thru forums. Rest in Peace. So young.
  22. Thank you for all your work, its good to monitor what's happening n the street exchanges. However l am puzzled why they would still be open. As far as I know, most foreigners there now are expats who transfer their monies as required by Transferwise or other such means. Surely the tourists carrying paper GBP, $,s and Euros are few and far between. Sent from my P00C using Tapatalk
