  1. Good day all! I'm away from Thailand for a little while and realized that some subscriptions do not work when outside of the Kingdom. Can anyone recommend a free VPN for Thai servers, the best one for value that they use? Even if you know someone else who has one, a name would be great. Thanks in advance guys n gals!
  2. Hello all. As you may know, there is a war in Ukraine and regardless of your political stance, it's wrong and thousands of people will die (and have already died). The Russian dictator is responsible for this and only he it seems can stop this. He is suppressing and silencing his own people, often with violence, those who stand for humanity. There will be a nuclear disaster if he instructs the bombing of the power plant he ordered to shell recently. Millions of people around the world will be affected by radiation. He doesn't care...he must be stopped. Please follow the link if you can join the protest to stop the war...it's today in Bangkok. SAVE UKRAINE πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ™β€οΈπŸŒ Dear Ukrainians and our friends in Thailand, we urge you to support our Motherland and its people by joining the peaceful demonstration against Russian aggression, which is taking thousands of lives on our land. The demonstration will take place tomorrow, March 5, 2022, at 4:30 pm in Lumpini Park near the Public Library (duration 1 hour) The event was agreed with local authorities with the following conditions: Follow standard guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID 19 - wear masks and keep your distance. Do not step on the grass and benches, do not try to climb the monuments. Do not succumb to provocations. The truth is with us, God and the whole world. Invite friends and distribute in public. Here below also link to the exact location on google maps: copy and paste. https://goo.gl/maps/JVBZ9xGapGjdoQw96
  3. Hi mate, what is a BiB by the way? My insurance requires an IDP to be covered for any accidents etc or a Thai licence. I would rather wait and save money and get it done when I finally get back home. I'm not sure if I would need a Thai licence on top of that- just seems to much of a headache when my IDP should be enough. Thanks for the info mate.
  4. Thanks for that. I am here already which is the issue. If only I had thought about this possibly being an issue last time I was in the UK then I would be sorted. I assumed that the UK licence was well recognised everywhere, least I know now. Cheers.
  5. I knew a someone who had a contact for this sort of thing but I wasn't too comfortable with it. I can wait to try and sort something else out. Thanks for the info mate.
  6. Thanks for the heads up- yeah, if only I was in the UK. So much cheaper and simpler to sort out.
  7. Good day to you all! I was hoping someone had a contact or information on how to acquire an International Driving Licence here in Bangkok/ Pattaya. I heard that you can 'sort' it for a small fee and it's completely fine and genuine- just that someone else can pass the test for you. I have a full UK licence but have heard that many people fail the mandatory test because the translation is not accurate which screws up your results. The other option is to send off my UK licence and wait for it in the post. What do you think or/ and advise? Hope someone can give me an idea as to what works here. Cheers guys!😬
  8. I feel for ya Jambo, when you go up against your other half and her country (even though it's just a suggestion) you face a losing the argument no matter how much logic you throw that way. I've seen it with friends and their partners- not worth the headache mostly. But did you know that in the UK, they offered the vaccine to everyone in the order they released in terms of high risk categories and order of occupation. Even undocumented people are asked to come forward with no risk of further action taken against them. This is for the sake of keeping everyone safe. That policy should be everywhere- not sure what the plan is exactly over here. I must admit- the way they (Thai Gov) have got people in quarantine and how they have dealt with it, is pretty good. Quite pricey though! But on the other side, it would be nice if our governments recognise that we expats are not going to fly back to our home countries just to get the vaccine and deal with heavy costs due to quarantine and risk not being able to come back. Whether it's the UK (my home), USA, Canada, Australia or wherever you are from- I think the Embassy's or whoever need to help us with getting shots into our arms. Hope someone can keep us updated when we can do that here. Good luck all!
  9. Daaaaaaammmn! I MISS proper bacon so bad!!!
  10. I think if the costs and risk are too high then we will just have a nice long holiday! Then look to apply for the next year at an International school either in Thailand or another country nearby. Least this way we have freedom of movement/ travel as long as we like for at least two months. Cheers all the same people!
  11. Yeah I know, I've seen the salary offered from many places but as long as the Mrs and I are comfortable and not going beyond our means then it could be ok, an experience anyway.
  12. Good day Bangkokers! I know that entering Thailand you need a policy that covers COVID-19 but I'm looking for a policy that also covers personal belongings too. Is there a stand alone insurance company that someone knows of or a company that does both for tourists? I would normally buy a policy from my home country but I'm not there and locally, no travel agent offers that service where I am. Have any of you met anyone or know of someone in a similar situation where you needed insurance while you ere already travelling? What are the best deals for insurance to cover medical and possessions for expats in Thailand. What have you boys n girls signed up for while working over there? These are both options I will need to look at particularly the first one (most probably with 'Tune'). I was just hoping t get cover for my laptop, phone etc. Thanks in advance for your advice on this matter. =0)
  13. Hello all, sorry for the late replies and thanks for the advice. Yes, @Freee!! and @Stillearly we have credentials including teaching in China for 5 years and a year now online. I'm not excited by the wild parties or such and neither is my wife so we are dedicated to teaching. @Yesitisdakid great insight cheers! Love the GIF btw! Yeah, so one company said that the costs we would have to pay were between 10,000THB- 12,000THB which nearly gave me a heart attack, This was the reason I decided to look for a forum and found this site. Nice one!
  14. Thanks @KhunDon! Blue is my team's colour...not sure why I didn't go for that?? Haha!
