I talked to someone from Thai Airways today, and apparently, they were told that the suppliers in Europe are rationing the deliveries of Jet A fuel; in other words, they cut them off. If this is true, then THAI won’t be the only airline affected by this, and very soon, we will see many more disruptions.

Our place in the UK is going up for sale very shortly & we're relocating to Thailand-if the airlines have any go-go juice left.

We have our house in Korat but we intend renting a condo in Pattaya for a short term & looking to buy a house on the dark side.

Preferably within walking distance or a short drive to some bars/restaurants/shops.

We stayed there at a friends place about 25 years ago & I was pretty unimpressed but I believe there's a lot more going on there now.

My knowledge of the area is paltry & would be grateful for any pointers from any members who know the area.

I was going to include "quality of girls" but all our tastes differ so it's really moot, plus some guys have long term girlfriends so again, it's not relevant.

Personally, pushy mamasans or girls for drinks would make me leave. Bar Code on LK Metro is bad for this, me and Mike had just sat down when we were getting pushed for drinks, so we got up and left, the mamasan remonstrated trying to say we need to stay for one drink as we've already entered, Mike basically told her to f**k off and if the manager wants to make a problem, then he's welcome to.

Given the number of bars with really good service in town and as a random list of 5 off the top of my melon (Pitstop, Basilisk 13 in TT, jibby's, billabong, Repent in Soi 6 ) luckily the days of poor service are becoming fewer and fewer. Prices seem to be more relevant these days than service maybe?.

I dunno, but would be interested to read the opinions of other BM's.

Songkran 2026 - Thoughts?

https://thailand-247.com/index.php?/topic/7991-songkran-2026-thoughts/&do=findComment&comment=465724

I caught the last 3 days of Songkran 25, much to my regret. It was very busy though, but town soon got quiet a few days afterwards.

This year I think will be more subdued if the current vlogs around town are anything to go by.

What do the collective think?. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qkx6saXQAgds1L8u9

A friend recommended the cheap pizza and as I like to sit in the open I gave it a try.

There is a pizza place in the front to the right, which I didn't try:

	Plenty of shops offering beer

Plenty of seating, the area is huge

Soft drinks, beer and cocktails, large Leo was 100 Bt.

I ordered a pizza from this place, at 6 pm the oven was just heated up.

On the opposit side one of several BBQ stands offering skewer, for example a salmon skewer was 100 Bt.

Mrs. CO tried the Som Tum at one of the stand but didn't like it.

The pizza was nice, good value. Salami and Peperoni must be order by slices at 10 Baht a slice, which seems a bit pricy, but the total pizza with ham and (canned?) muushroom came to 229 Bt only.

Lots of Russians (most of them the nice sort with family), many kids runnign around and some hotties from all over the world.

At the left side is a stage, don't remember when the music started.

I believe @Derek Dangleberries and company will enjoy it here. At least I did.

There seems to be a lot of empty condos, I’ve had a look around and it’s got a nice pool and gym and right on the beach. I’m surprised it’s not more popular.

There was easily two for every real girl and probably even a larger percentage being ladyboys. The minute you think you've spotted one a good looking one mind you it ends up being a boy. And all my years here I've never seen nor would I have ever thought that they would outnumber the actual girls but it's gotten to that point from what we've seen last night anyway.

I've just been on FR24 and tracked a couple of scheduled flights, one BA ex LGW and EVA BR068 ex LHR. timings are a later arrival for the diversion around Iranian airspace :

flights are also landing and taking off from DXB at the moment, so some airspace is operating.

	Qatar remains closed though.

I mentioned in the other topic regarding prices, I did a search for THAI and EVA, the EVA dates I entered previously were for slightly later in May, so not reflective of what I found just now.

Sadly I'm 85% convinced I am going to cancel my May trip this weekend.

	Reasons are few fold:

Exchange rate. Yes, I can afford it and money isn't an issue per se, but value for money is. My traditional cut off point has been 41THB/GBP and we're dangerously close to that now. Below that I feel the value isn't there and it's more a psychological barrier than realistic.

Time scale. I'm currently selling a house that I inherited. I've done most of the remedial work to it, it's on the market and I've had some offers. There's still some work to be done and time to do that work is diminishing fast because: My daughter turns 18 this month, we're off to Africa for 2 weeks in April - thus I lose my days off from work to do stuff to the tune of 3 weeks. Pressure on.

Uncertainty. Being shot down en route to or from LOS by Ahmed Al Akbhar is not high on my list of priorities. Likewise nor is being a target for aforementioned Islamic fundamentalist to be a star of a video in which I get my head cut off / blown up / murdered in the name of the religion of peace.

	Lastly, possibly the clincher.

I'd booked May ages ago, then a trip to Africa to see my step brother came up, its a flights only as we're staying with them, so we booked up. Basically I'm holidaying twice in 2 months then nothing for the rest of the year, so my intention is to rebook in August / Sept.

If I cancel it costs me a couple of hundred quid with the flight refund. Hotel etc is free cancellation. If I rebook then it's just rebooking costs. Either way, not bothered as it's pin money.

	What would you do?.

Police road blocks

https://thailand-247.com/index.php?/topic/7918-police-road-blocks/&do=findComment&comment=460550

Saw one at the end of soi Buakhow late last night, outside the market.
