Air Pollution - Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I had a discussion with another board member about this the other day.  Call it mist, smog, haze, fog, pollution or whatever.  I think it has got worse over the past week or so.  That said it has not caused me any respiratory problems.

Bangkok has its problems with air quality, but it is a large city.  Pattaya a few miles away.  Could it be a local cause; exhaust fumes from vehicles.

What do others think.

I was going to start a topic on the same. I don't recall ever experiencing such bad pollution anywhere anytime.

I went to Central Marina at the top of Second Road this afternoon. The air was seriously dirty; I had to get down to Beach Road ASAP.

We've had a little rain this evening. We need a lot more to try to clean up the air.

I noticed it in both Bangkok and Pattaya. It's literally a breath of fresh air here in Buriram.

The level of air pollution over Bangkok and Pattaya is damaging to health. I read an article that suggested it was equivalent to smoking two cigarettes a day.

You only need to be behind one of them coaches for a minute for that, horrible poluting vehicles.

Bangkok had been back to blue skies nice air since last Saturday evening, but woke up this morning to 170 ppm and bad tasting air.

Seen it on twitter that it's really bad. Take care of yourself.

Yes I saw that mate so am wondering whether to go BKK or Pattaya the 3 days before we head back to Holland.

@Painter  Can you assist?

I have no way of measuring the quality, but I can breathe, albeit wheezily.... it's better along the beach than walking along soi buckhou, but there's nothing new there. I'll have a look to seaward on tomorrow's walk and see how clear it is

My open fronted bar has white fans inside and out. We clean them every week or when necessary and I usually look at the shit on them and wonder if all that is ending up in my lungs.

The equivalent to smoking two cigarettes per day apparently.

Living in this frozen cold shit hole is more damaging to health. Give me Pattaya anytime. The air is fine, chimpers everywhere.

When I lived in HKG, 17th fl flat I cleaned the filters of my A/C's at least every month. They were black. Here I cleaned them after one year, and they were still nearly perfectly clean.

We had glass top table there, 1 h after cleaning it you could see the dust again, here never had this problem.

And our last visit to HKG in Oct, I could really feel the effect of the pollution on my body.

Sure it is a slow killer.
