Bazle Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 For anyone in Pattaya over the next two weeks, you should be aware that the annual Cobra Gold military exercises, with US, Thai and other forces, are taking place between 12 and 23 February. This usually results in quite a few US military personnel spending their time around Walking Street. They might also be around for a few days after the exercises finish. http://www.pacom.mil/Media/News/News-Article-View/Article/1744312/exercise-cobra-gold-2019-to-kick-off-on-february-12-2019/ 1
Thinkingallowed Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Good info mate. To be honest the couple of times I've been in bars in Pattaya and Phuket where US military personnel have been I've always found them to be good company and a credit to their country. 2
nadia Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 They have a 1% wastage / death record on these excersises

Sangsom Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 This used to be the annual panic thread by the oldies that the town was going to be full of young guns for a while 🤣 Seems the youngster are part and parcel of Patts visitors these days. In before someone says.......I never paid for sex when I was young! 👴🏻
misteregg Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Had three of them in my place tonight. Each ordered three shots of Patron Anejo. That’s nine shots of my most expensive liquor. Paid up and left. 6
boydeste Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 I am usually in town during their visits and have never seen any issues relating to them and as said before they are very chatty and friendly. 1

Couldn't agree more....., other than the fact that they are obviously military personnel just in civvies I have always found them to be very friendly when out and about. They are much lower profile than my memories of their visits in the late 80's and early 90's here and when I was living in the P.I. 1
barsie Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Have seen a fair few around- they are extremely well behaved and friendly. 1
Bazle Posted February 13, 2019 Author Posted February 13, 2019 I took a stroll down Walking Street this afternoon, just before 5pm. The beer bars, mainly Simon Complex and the carousel one in Soi Diamond, were heaving with them. I wonder what WS will be like this evening.
coxyhog Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 I was in Pattaya a couple of times in the 80's when a carrier & a few escort ships anchored in the bay.Not sure how many hit the beach at once but it seemed like thousands. They always took some back in boxes & once a Captain was found with his throat cut in the Royal Cliff.Another time a guy pulled a Thai cops pistol from his holster so the other Thai cop there shot him dead. But by and large they were well behaved and there were some very large shore patrol guys carrying large nightsticks if they weren't.
Bazle Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 It's back again! 24 February to 6 March. https://www.pattayamail.com/featured/4000-u-s-sailors-to-hit-pattaya-for-cobra-gold-285438 4,000 U.S. sailors to hit Pattaya for Cobra GoldBy PCPR January 25, 2020 The American Embassy has begun preparing for the 2020 edition of the Cobra Gold military exercise by reviewing security measures protecting the 4,000 sailors expected to arrive in Pattaya next month. Cobra Gold takes place for the 39th year from Feb. 24 to March 6 with 4,000 U.S. personnel, three navy ships and one commercial vessel.
coxyhog Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 It's quite possible the Corona lurgy may have an impact upon that. 1
Sangsom Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) Where’s gogo lover when you need him? Always liked a good boast up about how he as a pensioner could match up to the young lads! 🤣 Edited January 28, 2020 by Sangsom

Bazle Posted February 21, 2020 Author Posted February 21, 2020 I've seen several groups of US military in town today. I guess they are the advance parties. As Coxyhog said earlier, it will be interesting to see what impact Covid19 has on things. Imagine one of the guys picking up the virus when on shore, and how it would spread on board ship. Will the military authorities risk that?
misteregg Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Had some in yesterday. Didn’t mention US military as they don’t like it and aren’t allowed to talk about it, but it was obvious. 1

When US Navy called port in HKG, you had banners "Welcome US Navy" or "Welcome USS xxx" in most bars. Guys made ne secret who they were, and happy to have a chat. Guys, sadly for them have strict rules, and what surprised me most ..followed them. Of course with the new CIC relations with Bejing, it's been some time since one visited. Many moons ago, had some good evening with them in Pusan, South Korea. There is absolutely no reason why they should not be proud of what they are. Same as any military. 1 1

To each his own way .. LOL ! ... It’s because he has a big head and traps off about how awesome he is......if he was so awesome he would be getting younger girls without paying a bean. I also remember him saying said the reason he moved to Thailand was because he couldn’t get any chicks in the US that ‘wasn’t obese’ despite his cash and awesomeness 🙄 he needs to make his mind up ffs..... Most of us here do/have paid for hookers and it is what it is so we are in no position to have any moral ground over anyone else. It’s just his incessant boasting about how awesome he is that deserves ridicule. I get that you are his mate, but sorry where I see someone spouting bollox I’m going to take the piss out of them despite who they are friends with. The moral of the story is get it quietly and don’t mouth off despite how awesome and successful you think you are 🙄 Edited February 23, 2020 by Sangsom 3
