The "engineer" I spoke to who was putting in the drainage channels did say they were only intended for "small rain".... I guess this was bigger rain than those channels could cope with! This is the runoff pad across from Soi 13/1. I see the short sections of concrete walls are doing their job to help keep the palm trees from getting washed out to sea. Disgusting mess on the south end. I wonder if these large flapper valves are still operational. At least the pumps are working. Southend has the makings of a new Hilton waterfall. Across from Soi 3, repairs done. Have to say, the footpath has held up well so far. Soi 6 pumps are back, only two days late. Soi 6, repairs underway. Big pow wow underway too. Wonder what creative BS they'll come up with to explain why part of their multi-million baht project got washed away with the first significant rainfall. Across from Soi 12, concrete pad is in worse shape than what I noticed two days ago across from Soi 13/1. Across from Soi 13/1, shadow is hiding it, but there is separation the length of the retaining wall seaside. fforest Posted April 5, 2019 Share Posted April 5, 2019 The real beach flooding problems started after the 2013 beach road remodel.....Not only did they cut down most of the trees they made the new promenade as flat as a pancake....Perfect for flooding the beach.....The promenade before 2013 was actually smartly designed to help control the flooding... Plus all the many trees that were on the beach helped stop the beach erosion... But honestly I cant help but laugh that with-in weeks of finishing the beach it has a major wash out.....It was guaranteed to happen in time I just did not think it would happen so soon.....Talk about egg on your face... 3 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This project was in the planning stage over 10 years ago....If you started from the first time plans were drawn up and started adding up the baht till now you would be some where between 1 and 2 billion baht maybe more.....The old mayor dumped at least 500,000,000 baht just on those worthless storm drains that dont work....Then there was the promenade redo....And about 3 failed attempts to improve the beach...Then there was the HUGE sand dredge boat that sat out in the bay for over a year.....And dont forget all kick backs...Hell it might even be closer to 3 billion....
