Hi Tommy,

Secrets Hotel is totally separate from the Bar, ring fenced if you like as are all its employees.

In other words, business as normal.

Got to get back to writing my memoirs "Secrets - an inside straight". :default_dirol:

So Ben is still involved with the Hotel?

That is absolutely correct.

The forum got people through the door but it  was the fact that they like what they found and returned time and time again.

We were a good team.

Larry galvanised the forum and was the best meeter and greeter in Pattaya and Phil followed on

Ben was a great "Mine Hoste" and my best friend ; Alan a great Chef and I ran the office and spent hours counting the takings.

We had a great line up of girls, good service staff and you would be lucky to find a seat after 7.30 at the weekends.

Then Ben started playing Poker.

Jambo,

will Cambodia Secrets survive? if Ben nolonger has to leave the country to play,

Cambodia has many casinos,by the look of it PP Secrets is going gangbusters, hope it is very successful.

regards

grayray

@Jambo

There is quite an amount of confusion as far as ownership of both the bar and the hotel.  I understand you have no financial connection with the bar but are still doing the administration for hotel bookings.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

It would perhaps be prudent to start at basics and run through the procedure now for booking a room at the hotel:

Is there a link or an e mail address for bookings and terms of booking?

Is advance payment or deposit required?

If so are payments made by credit and/or debit card; Is Paypal an option?

Who owns the bar or who owns the limited company which owns the bar?

I think this is a good opportunity to promote the hotel and a degree of certainty would give a good deal of reassurance to customers and potential customers.

Many thanks.

Not generally for repeat customers. New customers may be required to pay a non-refundable reservation deposit

If so are payments made by credit and/or debit card; Is Paypal an option?

All deposits and payments in advance are payable by PayPal

Secrets Hotel has been in existance for 13 years, is very popular, has a high occupancy rate and many repeat customers who enjoy the personal service and very attractive room charges.

On the other forum the demise of the Bar is being blamed squarely on the shoulders of Abrahams. How surprising

new owners have to cop that one,,,if they had done due dilligence they would have known the pro and cons of the bar.Pehaps they underestimated the effect of the "loss" of the forum .However they opened just before low season, one would have thought they would have anticipated cash flow issues

Its very confusing wrt the forum...does Ben still own this? in which case the switch to Tapatalk did Scooters at Secrets no favors at all

In any case not paying the staff for the 2 months they have worked (deep throat 2 ) would seem at face value to be an absolute disgrace...but then Im only getting one side of the story

I would think bookings in the hotel might be affected by the closure of the bar.

Surely many have booked into the hotel due to it's location or association with the bar.

Just a thought, that's all.

Maybe but for a location so close to walking Street it's a pretty good bargain and when you can get it now at under 500 as seen here it's a tremendous bargain in my opinion anyway.Screenshot_2019-07-04-12-31-32.png

At 500 maybe, for W.S. lovers.

But at 2,000 it surely is not a great deal...

You make a good point and 500 is excellent value.

As Secrets members are all rich and loyal it just seemed possible that some may be put off by the closure of the bar downstairs.

Again just an observation.

Presume also there is a hotel entrance that doesn't see customers walking through an empty bar.

I don't think you're wrong in that assumption

Whilst not disagreeing on value, my question is whether 487 baht is the final total or taxes are added later.

Good post.

As I understood things Ben had no interest in Secrets anymore. Wouldn't class myself as a mate of his, but I've never had the urge to pally up to business owners. Chatting to him in Nov 2018 in Secrets PP, his comments whilst not in the forensic detail that some on here would seem to need to was Pattaya was declining low margin market that he was happy to be out of.

His target market in the main was moneyed-up Asian customers. Who starting a bar now would aim for dying demographic (of which I'm painfully aware I belong to☹️)

I took that  to mean he no longer had any business interest in the old bar. or the hotel, or Pattaya full stop- that seemed a reasonable inference based on 5 minute chat

I really liked Secrets in PP when I was in, (visited again Feb this year) very attractive line up and a cracking band.
