I've got a nice garden just 6 minutes from Walking Street. It was professionally designed by the same people who did the garden at the Sketch Book Art Cafe in Jomtien. I just move the odd plant six inches every now and then, I've got gardeners who come and do the actual work. I love having the green space to look out on, and in the tropics it's all year-round, no depressing winter grey.

Very nice. Looks like a Hobbit paradise.

We have been in our place for 14 years and never been able to grow anything because an ugly old palm tree kept the backyard in shade. My mate came round last year and we cut it down. We now have a good little garden and the missus picked the first papaya from the tree yesterday.

Some nice looking gardens y'all have. My LGF has something more akin to a domesticated jungle, but it keeps her busy and happy. And if she's happy, I'm happy. It also supplies us with some fresh veggies and herbs.
P4030001.jpg

A few times a year she goes home for a week or two and leaves me with the responsibility of watering her "garden". Since I can't be arsed to stand there with a hose watering her many plants scattered throughout the property, I installed a misting system. She never uses it, preferring to do the watering by hand, but when she's gone every couple of days I turn it on for about an hour.

Do you get any snakes

I have a large back garden with pool that had around 30 trees bushes etc but over the last 3 months I have had to extract around 12 snakes and a few of them quite dangerous

having small children I decided safety first so tore everything up and laid coloured sandwash

leaving me with a bright color  pool area back garden  but 100% safe as no where for the snakes to hide .

Only one in almost 8 years. He seemed more scared of me than I was of him and shot off as soon as we spotted each other, so I've no idea if it was dangerous or not. Surprising really, as there's quite a bit of empty land outside the back of the village where I live, but OTOH this is the bright side and most of the snakes here go around on two legs, lol. Terry Lee, living out near Mabprachan, seemed to have a lot of problems with snakes so maybe it's more of a Dark Side thing?

Very nice indeed TB. How do ya keep your grass looking like grass ? mines gradually dying despite regular watering.....

I cheated, those photos are from a couple of years back. The grass did indeed go to pot over time, you can't seem to get the same weedkillers here for stuff like clover as you do back home. Then some of the trees got large and mature and their shade and/or dead leaves killed patches of the lawn. I've just had the problem trees cut down and the lawn relaid, so it all looks nice and green again. I used the Malaysian broad-leaved grass this time rather than the Japanese narrow-bladed one as I think it's tougher. The rain yesterday will have done it a power of good.

That does look very Thai, my neighbours down the road have a similar setup, but it seems to suit them.

This rain is helping keepin it clean and as there is no soil dirt hopefully it will keep that way either way if I get 10 years out of it I will be happy 🙂

Could of at least painted it green!

It’s green at the front I didn’t show that part

I really can’t talk, my back garden is a real mess after the builders left. The wife plants stuff like roses etc, but I can’t be assed with gardening now, so I’ve declared it a “Nature Project” and I’m leaving it at that. 🤗

Had a cracking few years with the tomatoes and potatoes..

Got the seeds going this year but they are a month late...

Broccoli, broad beans, tomatoes and potatoes all ready to go into the garden for this summer..

Here's a few shots from last years crop.

Wow ! Stunning looking maters. Do you do anything with the soil, other than till it up ? And, do you use mulch ? If so, what do you use ?

Our yard looks like the Beverly hillbillies. I once laid some sod and it was doing well. I found that it was a lot of work caring for it. One day I went out and found that the wife had built a campfire in the center of it. It never grew back and I decided that having grass simply wasn't worth the effort.

Since the house sits on 2.5 rai, my wife is quite handy with her gasoline sprayer and herbicide. I used to run the little Honda weed whacker but I'm no longer allowed to do that. I cut her herbs. They look like weeds to me. Her bitching at me about cutting her herbs irritated me until I decided that I was the one ahead. As long as I do nothing, she is happy.

I used to use the tractor and blade to pile up leaves and twigs. It worked well and I was proud of my clever handiwork. I caught hell for that too. She said for me to leave the ground cover alone because it naturally prevents weeds from growing. Another win for me, as mentioned, as long as I do nothing, she is happy.

I tried for two years to grow big juicy tomatoes and every effort failed. I had a friend bring different varieties of seeds designed to grow in south Florida. The plants looked great but when the fruit was golf ball sized, the plants withered and died. I tried sterilized potting soil and even planted in pots, full sun, shade and partial shade. I had the same results every time. The wife laughed at me for using an old toilet for a planter. I thought the moisture would be easily controlled. FAILURE!

My wife is not at all keen on having a nice yard. Actually. I'm not either. I'm really good at being lazy.
