The Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, dies at 74 from COVID-19

Good riddance

Good riddance for sure.

Apparently that was a monumental fu*k up by the investigation team at the time, they had him in for interview something like 12 times and he was a twin for the photo fit picture, but they still let him go. He only got caught because of stealing a car and he confessed as the Ripper.

Yes many serial killers get away with too much for too long because of lazy cops. Dahmer should have been caught when that Lao boy escaped naked to the streets, instead the cops believed him when he said “it’s only a gay lovers’ quarrel”.....unreal. Then he killed many more in the same apartment the cops were right outside of

That was because of that idiot Oldfield and his obsession with the tapes.

Insisted the killer was from Wearside not Yorkshire like Sutcliffe. Even victims who survived said he had a local accent but were ignored.

For me, the Yorkshire Ripper case raises the issue ( for me at least) of when someone is that evil and unlikely ever to be released from prison then is the death penalty the most relevant way to deal with the situation?

This way it’s an absolute removal from society and also a significant ( probably millions of £ of taxpayers money which could be spent on other things, for example treating ill people etc)

Ray Clemence RIP

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54953093

Former England, Liverpool and Tottenham goalkeeper Ray Clemence has died aged 72.

Clemence, who won five league titles and three European Cups with Liverpool between 1967 and 1981, was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2005.

He also lifted the FA Cup, League Cup and two Uefa Cups during his time at Anfield.

In total, he made 470 league appearances for Liverpool before joining Tottenham.

During his seven-year spell at Spurs, Clemence helped the club retain the FA Cup in 1982 and clocked up 330 appearances.

The legendary goalkeeper, capped by England on 61 occasions, also worked on the north London club's coaching staff and was inducted into the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame in November 2014.

Clemence made his England debut in 1972 and spent the majority of his 11-year international career in a battle with Peter Shilton for the number-one shirt.

He captained the Three Lions for the first and only time in a narrow defeat to Brazil at Wembley in 1981 and later took up the role of goalkeeper coach with the Football Association.

Another genuine legend gone.Grew up when Liverpool dominated football with that amazing Shankley/Paisley squad.

Brilliant keeper in an era when we had 4 top keepers who would all walk in to the team today in Clemence, Shilton, Parkes and Corrigan.

Was respected by fans no matter who they supported.

RIP

THE DEATH HAS occurred of former Republic of Ireland assistant manager Maurice Setters.

He was 83.

A former captain at Manchester United in his playing days, Setters served as Jack Charlton’s right-hand man during his hugely successful spell as Ireland boss, when the Boys in Green qualified for two World Cups and a European Championship.

“The Football Association of Ireland are saddened to hear of the death of Maurice Setters,” reads a statement released by the FAI this afternoon.

“Assistant manager to Jack Charlton and a former Ireland U21 manager, Maurice played a key role in the success of the Irish team in the 1980s and 1990s. May he rest in peace.”

Setters, who was born in Devon, joined United in 1960 when legendary manager Matt Busby signed him from West Bromwich Albion.
