Comedian Gallagher, best known for his watermelon-smashing comedy routine and many popular specials in the 1980s, died Friday morning, according his manager Craig Marquardo. He was 76.

According to a statement provided to CNN by Marquardo, the comedian died “after a short health battle....

Not many hockey fans on here, but I’ll mention this man. Was a very durable defenceman from Sweden and a top player when I was a young lad and started watching sports. Survived a skate blade across the face, 200+ stitches. Had just made a public appearance at a game in Toronto last week, we knew it wasn’t good, he couldn’t even speak anymore. Lou Gehrig’s disease is just awful…RIP

Wasn’t the most famous actor, but had some really good roles in big films. He was a pilot in Top Gun and the computer hacker for the vault in Die Hard. Americans will also remember him opposite Andy Griffith in Matlock. 66 is too damn young……

Davide Rebellin, 51.

Italian pro cyclist for 30 years. He was killed while training near Vizenca, hit by a lorry.

Won a stage 7 at the 1996 Giro and held the Pink jersey for the next 6 stages. Overall winner of the 2001 Tirreno-Adratico and the 2008 Paris-Nice stage races. Won the Classics Liege-Bastogne-Liege (2004), Züri-Metzgete (1997), Amstel Goald Race (2004), Fleche Wallone (2004, 2007, 2009) Clasica de San Sebastian 1997)
