Looks like a great day out Lanza and great pics.

Can't beat the quieter seaside towns in the good weather. The cafe looks like a great little place.

Hope Puang enjoyed it and has helped with how she's feeling.

Yes its not the busiest of places but i have very fond memories of the place as a child and for some reason Puang loves the place.

I've just been chatting to her and she said she is feeling great for getting out today..

We will need to do it again very soon but for longer...

i've not been near this place for 40 years.

About the same for me Phil. Place looks a bit smaller than I remember.

Glad you all had a good day and thanks for the pics.

Good to see you looking well.

Nice photos Phil and its good to see you looking well.

Is there still a Butlins there? Back in the day I did Ayr, Skegness  Minehead and Barry Island but never crossed the Pennines to Filey.

Hope your wife perks up too. I'm sure she'll be OK.

Great pics Phil.

Those chalets take me back to my childhood holidays at places like Camber Sands,Westward Ho etc.

That what was exactly that went through my mind when I saw those Chalets. We had family holidays at Pontins and Butlins and I have fond memories.

I just googled Pontins, Camber Sands and to my amazement it is still going strong.

I have Pontins, Camber Sands story.

I took my first ever girlfriend to Pontins, Camber sands. I had an old Ford popular by then but did not trust that to get me to the end of  the street so we went on my Scooter all the way from North London all modded up with parkas, hush puppies and a squirel tail on an ariel. I must have looked a complete plonker but at the time I still thought I was the dogs bollocks.

I was 19 and she was 18 (just) and her parents would only let her go if we booked two chalets which cost extra. I moaned to my  mates because I had  been at work for less than a year and I had to pay. They just thought  it was hilarious having two chalets but I stuck to my true story that I had promised her parents we, or more particularly me, would be good.

Anyway,  I had a goodbye friday night drink with my mates and said I would see them all in a weeks time.

It took us most of Saturday to get to Pontins but we made it okay and after dinner were looking forward to our first night together starting off in the bar. About 10 O'clock the doors to the Bar opened and about 6 guys walked in. I could not believe my eyes - it was all my mates from Highgate.  All I can remember whilst I was still in shock was  my mate Roy saying

"Well we knew you wouldn't mind as you had that other chalet going spare!"

They stayed the weekend.

They filled their two cars up by syphoning petrol from the last petrol driven steam roller in the world.

Subsequently, my girlfriends period was a week late coming.

I didn't think there was any way you could pregnant from oral sex ( from me) or hand jobs (from her) but I still crapped myself anyway. :default_458:

The area around Flamborough lighthouse is also nearby.  That too is nice scenery.

Its a lovely place John.. well its all lovely coast line.

I got a friend tat has a caravan at Thornwick bay at Flamborough which he asked me to sort out some new flooring for him and we got a free weekend out of it too.

Puang had never seen anything like it before and it was her first time in a caravan and on a park.

Here's a few more from the the year before:-

Great pics Phil agree so much with most of the posts on here.

English seaside in what we call Summer can't beat it with some fish and chips.

Puang is one lovely lady and will be fine ........ Thais in UK often don't get out enough all that fresh sea ozone great for her.

Agree with Gal and Jambo ........my childhood was spent in them chalets and mouldy caravans in Walton-on-the-Naze and the Isle of Sheppey.

Different world .......... 50 years since the moon landing we were on the Isle of Sheppey as kids. :default_gathering:

Them Pontins and Butlins chalets would have some stories if the walls could talk.

I lost my virginity at the Morcombe one.

We had holidayed there when I was about nine. Seven years later we found ourselves moving into the caravan park at Heysham Head (parents had sold their business and were looking for another) It was just up the coast from said Pontins. I was over the wall most nights, down the disco, chasing girls. Was the wildest summer I have ever known. I used to eat in the canteen at weekends and chalk up credit in the bars. Yes I was underage for drinking, most staff thought I worked there.

I love the old amusement arcades, worked in one for few years when I was a teen. I took a visiting TG in one a few weeks ago and she had great fun playing on the old 2p pushers, cheapest afternoon out ever 🤣

You have never been in a caravan at Walton-on-the-Naze when it rained for two weeks.

Agreed

I used to go to the Southport Weekender and Tribal Weekender events at Pontins there. If the chalets could talk they'd be slapped down with NDA's or detained under multiple sections of the MHA 😄

Edit - I thought about posting a pic or two but then noticed just in the nick of time this is in the public area 🤣
