I was looking for a different kind of holiday..

Recommended Posts

I'm fed up with the ongoing heat in Thailand and we will only be able to come in December and January while its cooler to do so with littleThomas

So for this reason i've considered a cruise holiday, kind of all inclusive.

I would enjoy the non organising and eat what and where i liked then too on my entertainment and a good few drinks.

Having seen those mega cruise ships, no way I would holiday on that. Just a mega hotel welded on a barge, and decorated to give a Las Vegas feeling.

Now, on a small unit, preferably sailboat yes ! But not the same price.

The Caribbeans offer some nice combinations of hotel + sailing, or private boat owners offering charter trips.

I’ve done a Carribean cruise, boring as fk just rocking up at one beach after another, would be better off just staying at a beach resort. A Baltic or Alaskan cruise is the only ones I’d consider in future.

Baltic / Alaskan too fecking cold.

A cruise is all about girls in Gstring around the pool.

PS : Avoid the ones that target pensioners.....

Enjoy your swim.....

For example the Danish islands and in the Southern Baltic near Kaliningrad will only reach 10 or 11 deg C (50-52 F) in May but will rise to 17 to 18 (63-64 F) by August. To the south of Gotland the May temperatures of 5 or 6 (41-43) will become about 16 degrees (61 F) in August.

I have yet to take one.

I've heard some good reports from some well traveled friends who have been on some great ones. The key is to choose carefully, do your research

Just not my cup of tea, for now. Maybe one day though.

Elba Island, Italy

Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy

You have the right idea. I have been on many cruises around the United States and have enjoyed then all. The GF and I are now looking at the European options for the near future.

But they aren't for everyone.... crabby old people don't do well on them..... 555
