I am currently looking at visiting for the first time

I know you can fly from Clarke to El Nido , so if you flew into Manila , taxi to Angeles , then fly to El Nido , what's the easiest way of getting to Boracay ?..
looking for next year , was thinking of five nights Angeles , five nights El Nido , five in Boracay and also maybe Cebu .. time / cost not really a factor , but looking for stress free travel without retracing my steps to much

any ideas welcome , as well as recommendations for hotels in Angeles that have a good pool / location

Take a look at the Wild Orchid, has some nice rooms and a great pool area. I stayed a week there a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. Oh it's a 2 minute walk to Fields Av too.

Look at this link for flights from El Nido to Boracay (Caticlan), that journey would save you the hassle of going from El Nido to Cebu or Manila to get back down to Boracay. It is also into Caticlan which is about 3 minutes trike ride to the port for the boat across to Boracay.

Best hotel in Angeles is the ABC with a great pool/lounge party area on the top.  Wild Orchid as mentioned is also a good choice. Both hotels are walking distance to the bars.

You can look for hotels on Agoda or Booking.com etc for Angeles. Sometime calling/emailing the hotel direct might get you a better rate.

Thanks vm Larry , but not 100% sure I will make it over in Nov

Manilla isn't a place I really want to visit , but I was thinking if flights didn't work out as I wanted , if it comes to it I will look at an Airport hotel

"I know you can fly from Clarke to El Nido"

Are you sure about this? Cebu Pacific always flew Clark to Puerto Princess and its a 5+ hour road trip to El Nido from there. I thought you had to get an AirSwift flight from Manila direct to EN?

The Makati area of Greenbelt is a good place to stay as is the bar area around Burgos Street if you want to go to some entertainment venues.

Are you staying on your way somewhere such as El Nido or Angeles, if El Nido then fine and I would probably stay in Makati area but if staying before going to Angeles then, personally, I would go straight up to Angeles.

Manila is a pretty dirty city outside of Makati, I also wouldn't stay at the airport as not a great lot to do despite there being some entertainment areas.  They have built an express way now from literally the centre of Makati so only takes about 20 minutes from the city to the airport.

In the old days we all stayed in Mabini/Ermita/Malate area and there are still many hotels there catering to foreigners with a few bars and drinking dens packed with amorous females. Not a great area but might fit the bill if you have enough time to indulge.  There are also transport options from a few hotels in that area to Angeles.

You can also get a car from your Angeles hotel to pick you up at the airport for about 2700 - 3000 pesos or a Genesis bus from terminal 3 at Manila airport to take you to SM Mall near the bar area in Angeles (Balibago).

One other option if staying Manila and wanting entertainment is the Heritage Hotel on the corner of EDSA and Roxas Boulevard, it is a casino as well but maybe more important it is opposite the EDSA Entertainment Complex which has a small selection of bars (go gos).

Blue Wave just up the road on Coastal from MOA (Mall of Asia) is now open. Numerous Bars, with live bands beginning to schedule after the lockdown.  What remains of Del Pilar is closed along with sevearl bars. Not sure on the current status of Manila Bay Cafe though.

Pasay, Cavite, Bacoor Dasmarinas all still closed for the most part and P4P is non existent unless you have numbers in your phone already. Alabang, Festival Mall Alabang and outlying Malls remain closed along with the FL places for, pickups such as San Mig Pub,  Cowboy Grills and Sitcoms. EDSA remains closed to the best of my knowledge.

Sorry for any confusion to the above, the bars are NOT open in Blue Wave, but they are scheduling shows and events for the future.

My bad on that one, I knew what I meant but didn't make it very clear in the text 555.

I have never stayed inside Subic Freeport Zone, but due to circumstances beyond my control will be staying at the formerly Best Western for one night next month. Any interesting nightlife inside SBFZ? I haven't got the time to get into Olongapo.
