OOOhhhhh.....nice.

Are they centre lock wheels? Must be a b*tch to keep them clean as well. The colour suits it.

Yep, centre lock with spinners. Wire wheels are nightmare. These pics are from 15 odd years ago now.

Had a black roadster a few times as well -

sorry to go off topic a bit (apologies Mods) - How did the roadster compare driving wise? did you notice there more flex in the chassis? (I know most petrol heads have an opinion on the aesthetics lol :)  )

Personally I love them, the contours of the E type are unparalleled for anything else at the time. In some ways I wish I could have been there for the reveal at Geneva, the sheer chock on the faces of people and a generation used to Rileys, Morris and the like coming out of the UK, and also to have been stood somewhere as one of these purred along the high street back in the 60's, everyone looking at it. Awesome.

A friend of mine back in Wales, 45 years ago, had a D type sitting on blocks in his shed. He was going to do it up for his retirement.

Back when I was 21, my brother asked his mate to take me and let me drive his Race prepared Escort around Brands Hatch, when we arrived there was a D type stretching her legs. First and last time I've ever seen one, they're a multi million pound car these days. Your friend has a damn good retirement to look forward to !!

Great car, rare saloon. I had the E36 M3 GT2, owned it 5 years, 60k miles, loved every minute. I have a F80 M3 comp now, amazing machine...

Good choice, the V8's of the E92 were known to be troublesome. I always liked the sound of the E46 and the straight 6 has a nice rasp to it. Bloke nearby has a real garage queen, a 2002 Turbo which only comes out for shows and sunny days, another BMW I'd like to own :)

Yeh, I prefer E46 to the E92. The turbo is very rare and an appreciating asset. Just had the F80 remapped, its an absolute weapon now [emoji3]

I love a straight six in anything, and BMW's versions are about as good as they come. Although I'd love to take your F80 for a good boot, I don't think I'd want to buy a BMW newer than my 2003 330xi  E46 because they are just too full of electronic gimmickry and I am thousands of miles away from the nearest dealer and need to do most of my own maintenance and repairs (thankfully few of these so far!).

My old '94 E320 will run forever...it's in my will for my daughter. 😉

I had to look them up, i've never heard of them but from the detailed description they're both pretty awesome and rare, well done.

In 2000 I had a 1994 325i saloon and was hungering after an E36 328i Sport Coupe.I was working at a BAe plant at Woodford and had been to see a few when I'd come home but they were all too expensive & had too many miles.

A mate came into work one day & said Coxy they've got just what you're looking for in the Wilmslow BMW dealer.

So I went down there in my 30min lunch break & bought it,8000 miles,8 months old & I think it was around£26k.Great car.

The Roadsters were wobbly as hell. They simply did not feel safe at high speeds. If you flipped or even had any sort of impact against other more solid vehicles or objects you would be dead, end of. An ex Gf's Dad saw that happen once and said what he saw when he ran to the wreck to see if he could help was something he still shudders to think about now.

You can get a better ide of how low and exposed they are from this pic of it surrounded by normal modern cars -

EDIT - This pic is from mid 2000's, consider that modern cars are even bigger now!!!

Got more respect, coupe or roadster, from other road users than in any other of the probably 200+ types of car of every make including all the good ones I have driven though.

E46 M3 CSL is the car we all should have bought when they had depreciated to £25-30,000 Daren't even look what they cost now haha.

The noise they make is epic.
