I could'nt get on with the gated gear shift no matter how hard i tried, reverse was where 1st gear traditionally is and 1st gear was where 2nd usually is, i did'nt like it but i had some fun in it. Cool, the one i had many times was 1992 but non-PAS...I guess it had been manufactured a cpl years before it was first sold and registered maybe. It wasn't far off Lotus Elise levels of steering directness and feedback. Every Ferrari I'd driven up to that point had the "Dog-Leg" box, and indeed so did a lot of other cars i was driving around that time......928 S2, E30 M3, 190 Cosworth, Aston V8 Vantage.....any sports car with a front engine/rear transaxle/5manual setup was dog-leg pretty much. Perfecting that up-right-up 1 -> 2 shift in a Ferrari and dropping the clutch, nailing the throttle all just right is probably the greatest motoring joy I can recall. Yours looks lovely. I prefer the side strakes look of the 348 to the big open scoop/vent look on the 355 😎 Bet that chin/lower bumper took a good stone-pitting though, the first one i had many times was TDF Blue and had the optional black/plastic lower chin....not as pretty but it was a lot easier to drive day-to-day. I had a red Targa a few times as well. funky reg n' all, lol, it a PAS model and the loss of torsional rigidity due to the roof not being solid made it a lot less fun to hustle. I forgot hot-linking to IMGBB and the like isn't working, attaching pics instead... (the red Targa pics aren't mine, but it is the car i had) Edited October 23, 2020 by Shaksey

Shaksey
This was the best pre-2000 Ferrari I have ever driven. 1984 308 GTS QV. Note, all important "Big Knob" mod 😁

I dunno, the non-PAS car steering was lightish at speed but when manoeuvring at low speed or parking it was quite heavy. Talking about weight at the front....did you ever have the need (misfortune) to have to check where the battery was? 😁
Chester Draws
I regularly look at the pricing in the UK for 348/355/360's and i would agree with you, silly prices indeed. I paid 38500GBP's back in 2001 and probaly should have kept hold of it but it was a second car that spent a lot of its time in my garage doing nothing just looking beautiful (not a very practical car for everyday driving in lots of respects). I'd satisfied my boyhood dream of owning a red Ferrari so it was time after a couple of years to say goodbye. Does your friend let you have a drive of his lovelies ? Good for you, you need to go for your dreams when you get the chance. I have driven his Bentley but not the Countach... Yet [emoji3]. He has a performante too, I need to drive that one! The TVR Chimera was'nt much better as the battery was in the front of the passengers footwell 🙁

The TVR Chimera was'nt much better as the battery was in the front of the passengers footwell 🙁 Yep. I drove from London to the Lake District once with a bird i was seeing. £100 of fuel gone. Drove around the Lakes for a few days. Another £100 of fuel gone. Probably the funniest memory of it actually was on the last day when we were at the zoo, we came back to the 348 and it was surrounded by about a dozen people looking at it. I smiled and said "Sorry, excuse me...." One of the guys turns round and says "Hey up fella, wait yer turn int it". So I just stood back looking at my bird, both of us trying to keep straight faces, I was 21, she was 18 at the time. When the folks has finished getting their grubby hands all over the windows etc I unlocked and we got in, started up, windows down, looked out, big smile and said "You're welcome". 😁 So, then pulled into garage near zoo, another £100 of Shell's finest in the tank. The cashier says "I saw you drive by earlier, I thought that was a Ferrari at first, but they don't come in blue do they, can i ask yer what it is mate?" "Errrr it is a Ferrari." I replied. 🤣 So, back down to London, another £100 of fuel gone. Pull into garage, fill up, go in to pay, no chit chat this time, it's gone midnight, jump back in, turn the key.....CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. Bollocks. Call out RAC. Lots of boy racers then happen to drive past and shout some abuse. RAC guy asks where the battery is..."Are you bloody kidding me fella?!?" he asks when i give him the bad news. I tell him, "Look, volt gauge, the battery is good, ok?" Nope, he has to check it to confirm. Then he strokes his chin and goes and gets a big bloody mallet. Smacks the hell out of the starter motor. "Try it now please fella". Vrrrroooooooommmmmmm 😁 He says "Do not turn it off until you get home, drive straight home, the starter bushes are worn down, needs a new one tomorrow, ok fella?". "Gotcha". So of course I drive into the local town centre to give some shit back to the boy racer lads, job done, I take a short cut down a 100 yard one way street. The wrong way, but hey it's nearly 2am, no probs. Wrong. Police car comes the other, correct way, luckily there's a passing spot in the middle which i pull into. Police stop, get out, walk up, i put window down....copper says "Morning, Sir, can you turn the engine off please?" Suffice to say that was not a fun next 30 minutes 🤣

Lantern
^ Another way of doing the same is to put the car in gear (say 3rd) and rock it forward and back a few times (Ignition off, of course) This can un-stick a starter motor. 4

Sounds strangled and struggling to rev. In fact the engine sounds and revs like it's utterly f***d. Those guys are clueless chumps. The beardy guy was right about the Non-PAS steering having huge amounts of feedback though. Furniture polish all around the gate helps the shifts a lot.
