I drove my wife’s car to the grocery store today and thought “bloody hell, this is a fantastic little car”.

Best car i ever drove, bar none, by a huge margin.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight.

That's a million pound car today.

That, and the 1988 911 Turbo in Red are my fave ever porkers, with a small soft spot for the 959. I've only ever seen one 2.7RS, and that was at a car show in Mannheim in 1999. I couldn't afford one then, and I certainly can't afford one now!.

I've driven a 959, wasn't supposed to but couldn't resist a spin around the block.

And some Frenchman who wanted everyone to know he can afford an M2

Well here's an Englishman's M3 which i could'nt afford at 42K in 1996 so the company i worked for bought it for me as my company car, it was a great drive.

Good score - I'd love to have an M model but they are just too expensive to buy and maintain; I do own another E36 model, though - it's a 1992 325i that was sold new in Japan with LHD and then imported to Canada ten years later; basically a Euro model with a couple of Japanese tweaks. I bought it three years ago with only 106,000Km on the odometer:

I also own a 2003 E46 330xi which has a lot more power and features than the 325i but it's also a lot heavier and feels like it - the old E36 can be thrown around like a go-kart and is also not too difficult to maintain - I would dearly love to find an original, unmolested E36 with a manual gearbox but it's almost impossible nowadays...

Yes it was. It was a great drive limited to 155mph and there was'nt much that could see it off. I had it for 3 years and did 40K miles driving from Southampton to Bournemouth daily across the New Forest on dual carriageway, it was real fun.

Ahh the memories :default_party-smiley-048:
