The frog's toy collection in Bali

I thought it could be an good idea to post my "new arrivals" in a specific thread ?

I have put it in the Indo section as it will be easier  for me to find it when I want to add something.

Today's arrival is a Citroen Dyane 6 (1978) scale 1:24

Most of my (modest) collection is 1:43, with Dinky Toys copies ranging from 1:43 to 1:55 depending on era and origin.

But 1:24 allows for a bit more details.  Even better is 1:18 but price wise we're not in the same range, and they take up a lot of space as well.

On today's model I like the color, the interior scheme and the engine details.

And it found its place on the 1:24 shelve....

27 Euro, shipping from China included.

Not really cheap...😱😱

Probably the same price as in France.

I remember paying 40$ for my 348TB Ferrari model and its not as good as your Citroen, no where near it so i would say that's a result 👍

As I said the 1:24 scale is nice and offers more details, as long you buy some quality stuff.

Look at this Renault R8 Gordini front boot. You can see the brake assistance, and the additionnal gas (petrol) tank, specific to this model.

And now look at the real thing (picture from the net) :

So yes, this one is also a very nice model.

BTW, the R8 Gordini was pretty good in rallies.

But a bit tricky to handle in curbs due to the lack of weight on the front wheels.

The trick was putting a 50 Kg cement bag in the front boot for sporty driving...

Good old days with real cars that required a bit of skill, and had none of this electronic assistance shiite !

I had a Triumph Spitfire I used to literally keep a bag of cement in the wee boot because the back end was so light. I still once went backwards into the bus garage at the top of Muswell Hill in the wet.

A zillion years ago I worked with a guy that bought his young son every single Dinky toy that came out. Except he always bought two and stored one set in his loft. I remember him telling me that they would be worth a lot of money one day. So many were produced I doubt he made a "lot" but maybe a complete boxed collection would have been very attractive to a collector.

I think that most B.M. on here  will remember the Dinky Toys ?  I had quite a few of them when I was a kid, unfortunately my nomad live did not make it easy to carry a lot of things with me, so they were all lost, given away etc...  Silly me !

http://dinkytoys.ch/history.htm

They were made in UK and France.  More recently in 2008 a French / Swiss company made a "re-edition" as explained in the article

The Swiss-French Atlas publishing house launched a new edition of various French Dinky Toys models in the 2008. The selling takes place at subscribers in French-speaking countries (France and Belgium).

It concerns rather accurate copies of the French models out of the 50's and 60's-years. They are manufactured in China. The models can easily differentiated. The base of the new models are marked with: "Made in China" "Edition ATLAS, © Mattel".

Of course they were made in China, and obviously the Chinese manufacturer made a few more than Atlas ordered hence even if the Atlas thing closed down you can still order many of the models through AliExpress in China. That's how I buy them to reconstitute a mini collection.

I stick mainly to French vans and trucks.

So the arrivals of the week :

Berliet Stradair. This was a very innovative truck as it was one of the first to have an air cushion suspension. The truck was never a big succes and the suspension was a source of many problems.

This one is more special, a low bed version.

The other one is a very popular BERLIET SG2 in horse van version

Of course as it are copies of Dinkys dating made in the 50's to 70's they are not as sophisticated and detailed as more recent products can be.

Yep TS many of us would have had Dinky and Corgi toys when we were young but like you we probaly have'nt got them anymore. I remember having a very nice collection that i gave away to a young cousin much to my parents displeasure. I even had the Corgi James Bond Aston Martin DB5, i wonder what that would be worth now ?

Yep, I remember the Corgi Toys. A bit cheaper than Dinky at the time if my memory is good.

I had the J.B. DB5 also, and of course the Batmobil !

Now i thought the Corgi were better quality than Dinky, as a young lad i always had them bought for me so can't comment on the pricing.

dinky and corgi were the best in the 60s but m sadly, they were expensive so some of us just made to with matchbox and the kits you could buy and paint yourself.   aaah the memories of making a garage out of a shoe box.. and endless hours fo fun on the living room or bedroom floor.  no tv, daytime, and no bloody phone apps.  Somehwere i have a photo of my first rolls royce, but nothing compared to your collection

@Thai Spice...When I was focusing on contract manufacturing and trading I did several die cast promotional premium projects for BMW and UPS. Next time, if there is ever a next time, you are in HK, go visit the Welley showroom is Tsuen Wan. It is ultra impressive if this is your thing!

Thanks for the link.

Yes, Welly is a very good brand. I have 2 or 3 at scale 1:24 , the Citroen Traction, and 2CV Charleston. The R8 Gordini also I think.

Thing is that I stick mainly to 50's to 70's models, and Welly is more recent models.

But I have 3 Welly models in my AliExpress cart, waiting for budget approval ....

Edited : Changed pic # 2.  Added the Mini

I don't think many BM will know the WILLEME truck brand ?

Another one of those (many) French car or truck manufacturers that have disapeared.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willème

They have a very specific look.

I have (recently) 2 in my collection.

Scale 1:24, IXO brand model

20191106_131143-1024x768.jpg

20191106_131210-1024x768.jpg

And an old Dinky classic, scale 1:55, "fardier" as we call them in French. If anybody can tell me the name in English ?

And yes, I need to find some real wood to replace them plastic things !

@Pumpuynarak,

Having seen the style of cars you like you may have a look at this :

https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32978402685.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.7a5d3c00MszIjJ&mp=1

Image 11.jpg

Scale 1:24 which is nice, and 25 Euro is a steal considering the finitions.

Or this ?

https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/33039591989.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000014.51.762720bdnEpl8B&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.13338.128125.0&scm_id=1007.13338.128125.0&scm-url=1007.13338.128125.0&pvid=81c1d48f-c9a0-414c-b6fe-7ab40a628a36

Image 12.jpg

Scale 1:24 and only 20 Euro

PS : Change the language / currency on the top of the page.

They dont fit in my style of collection (you have the draw the line somewhere...) hence I dont buy them, but they look superb.
