Popular Post CampariO
Had a project near Rayong, so spend some weekends in Laem Mae Phim. There is small beach named Ao Khai, which has very few visitors. The locals tend to be at the huge Mae Phim beach. There are 3 or 4 hotels with a few sun loungers and a simple restaurant as well. They are keeping the beach spotless. Sand is like powder, the water clear and not a single rock or pebble in the water. A dream to swim in and as the slope is gentle, non swimmers can have a good time there as well. We had some drinks and snacks in the simple restaurant, I think their sun chairs/umbrella were free of charge or very cheap. From Pattaya it is a 2 hours drive. Can't wait to get back there. Beware: on my second visit I got bitten by sandflies.....so bring some mosquito repellent. 3 3

Now planned a road trip to Ubon Ratchathani which got delayed due to a flu I picked up on the plane. This should result in some nice pics.

Looks ideal for us and the little one. Hua Hin or around that area, about the only 2 places I could live in Thailand I reckon.

CampariO
Great drinks at the Lucky Viking Bar. Hardly any coke in the long island💥 1
CampariO
Just back spending 2 nights in Mosaic appartments next to the Grand Blue hotel at Laem Mae Phim. Very quiet down there.
CampariO
Had dinner in Bali Pizza, where the ppizza margherita starts at 280 Bt. This one with several toppings came to 370 Bt. It was (a bit later) one of the busier places, probably due to the philippine entertainers. Edited February 5, 2020 by CampariO
CampariO
Spend both the evenings checking out the cocktails at the Lucky Viking. Probably the best night spot in the area. She did a good job.
CampariO
Spend some time at Coca Cola beach: For second dinner back to Laem Mae Phim, where a couple of Thai tourists took pics of the sunset.

CampariO
We then had a quick lunch at Mae Ram Phueng beach near Ban Phe. Edited February 5, 2020 by CampariO
CampariO
While Ao Khai is our favorite spot it had become quite busy with famllies, mainly from Scandianavia. Laem Mae Phim has plenty of restaurants, but most were dead. A handful were doing a decent trade. There are several places that are empty, for sale or already falling apart. Still it looks better than Mae Ram Phueng, where many ghost houses and garbage can be seen along the beach road. Doesn't look like a place where someone wants to spend their holidays. 2 or 3 nights are more than enough. There is not much to do, so life gets boring fast. The good thing about this area is, there are hardly any Russians or Chinese, most of the visitors are Skandiavians. It is easy to find a spot on the beach, where you are alone without any hawkers bothering you. 4

latour82
My wife come from a nearby town (Klang) it is a very nice play to be, and very quiet, there is a long road going to the ferry and boats to Koh Samet, lot of small restaurants opposite the beach, a very nice gem in Thailand and not more then about 100 miles away from Bangkok or Parttaya
CampariO
Went again to Laem Mae Phim, stayed 2 nights in the Grand Blue. Arrived on a Thursday, only ground floor rooms were available, no breakfast buffet. Walk-in price 1200 Bt. Next day was 1400 incl breakfast which was forgettable. Beside what you see one could get some fruits, that's all. Coffee was drinkable. Better book without breakfast and order a la carte. There were some workers with electric tool working on the decking directly next to the water, so I spend less time in the pool than I had planned. Ao Khai was nice as usual..... ...until some brain dead farangs turned up and took over the beach despite some small children running around. I was wondering why nobody called the Bib, even in Thailand it is not allowed to operate motor vehicles on the beach. The staff of a hotel told us they were coming already for the second day.
CampariO
In front of the Grand Blue the pick ups were line up, but overall it was quiet, a bit busier on Friday/Saturday.
CampariO
We had dinner in the Tequila Sunrise. Food on the other table looked good, we were not that hungry and ordered just some snacks. The Margaritas were horrible though, tasted like watered lemon juice.
CampariO
Over to the Bali Pizza joint, mixing your own will gets you what you want. The place was packed as some government employees from Korat were enjoying themselves, probably burning some tax payers money. CampariO
Next evening we had some seafood: whinged bean salad with shrimps, Pla kapong nueng manao and omlette with crab. Washed down with a Riesling. The wine was served from the restaurant next door, called The wave. Opened some 9 month ago, the food pics on their web site looked awesome, will try it on my next visit. Cocktails were great, Gin tonic and a Daiquiri: We enjoyed the trip, but 2 nights were more than enough.
