Will be a proper pain in the arse if they don’t make it as I use them a lot to get around the UK and Ireland, 4-6 times a month probably. They have already cancelled some of my regular flights.......finger crossed they will be ok 🥺

Britain’s biggest regional airline, Flybe, will continue to operate after rescue talks with the Government proved successful.

“Delighted that we have reached agreement with Flybe’s shareholders to keep the company operating, ensuring that UK regions remain connected,” said Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom. “This will be welcome news for Flybe’s staff, customers and creditors and we will continue the hard work to ensure a sustainable future.”

Flybe’s shareholders have agreed to invest more money in the airline, according to BBC business editor Simon Jack.

He tweeted: “Government pledges to review air passenger duty in run up to budget but will make changes in line with their zero carbon ambitions.

Just been on the radio and i hear their base is LBA which is just a few miles north of me...

Monarch airline went bust a few years ago and they had a big hold on LBA too..

There's plans to build a rail link to the airport but a few tree hugger MP's have rejected the plans which is another nail in the coffin for LBA..

They are Exeter based really, but some airports would not have much traffic if they didn’t use them. For example Belfast city is a busy regional airport and if flybe stopped operating there hey would only have 4 flights a day. The impact of them going out of business would be quite big and way beyond just the staff that work for them as you could see by the Belfast airport example. They quite simply do a lot of routes that other airlines don’t and are really important for business in some of the further away parts of in the UK which is why the govt was keen to help. As mentioned above it would be a pain in the arse for me as I use them to get around the Uk a lot for work.

Interesting to see what this complaint  will become considering Brexit and the legal structure of IAG ?

Seems like the end is imminent ?

Sad to see another airline go.  Less competition = higher prices.

On the other hand, competition maybe got too intense, with prices that economically make no sense for the airlines ? Hence a "correction" and clean up.

Con : higher prices for all.

Pro : less riff raff and cheap charly backpackers on the planes.

Flybe 'set to go into administration overnight and cease operations immediately

A disaster for Exeter and the airport.I worked there for two years 2005-6 and a lot of good people are now out of work.

Hopefully someone will pick up the pieces but it won't happen while the Coronavirus is around.

They only have themselves to blame , was a good airline when Jack Walker had it .... they took the piss with luggage charges and customer service over the last few years , I avoided them whenever possible

I am surprised Ryanair have any customers.

Fella at works mate got married recently and his wife's passport was in her maiden name and was charged over £100 extra to amend the ticket for a flight to Ireland.

Thats £100+ EACH WAY!!!!

When JW had it there wasn't the competition from low cost airlines.I think it's a collective race to the bottom and any glitch such as the present virus or maybe a terrorist attack and they're all vulnerable.

All the low cost carriers are at it,a few years ago when I was working in Bucharest I changed my ticket but forgot to print a new boarding card - Wizz charged me £50 to print a new one.

They must have lived in a cave for years not to be aware of something like that.  It keeps the prices down for the rest of us I suppose.

Over £200 to change the name on a £60 ticket is just a rip off.

O'Leary is just a c**t of a man.

I understand it is cheaper to change your name in the UK and there have been stories about people doing exactly that for that very reason.
