You may laugh, but Turkey is doing similar, in fact if you don't have a residency permit, you will not be allowed to enter Turkey at all from some countries, Italy included. Also if you have been there in the last 14 days, no entry to Turkey.

If you have a residency permit, you have to get tested on arrival, and even if negative, you still have to self isolate or full quarantine for 14 days.

It'll not be just Thailand and Turkey doing it ...

People arriving from multiple places in Asia, the Middle East and Europe will be forced to self-quarantine by Thai authorities, the country's Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

The minister's post said Japan, Germany, South Korea, China "including its special territories Macao and Hong Kong," Taiwan, France, Singapore, Italy and Iran have been declared as "dangerous communicable disease areas."

Anyone traveling from those places will have to self-quarantine for 14 days "with no exceptions," Charnvirakul added.

The measures imposed by the Thai government include isolating or quarantining those with temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius (99.5 degrees Fahrenheit) or with suspicious coronavirus symptoms.

Travelers who have no fever and show no symptoms will still have to enter self-quarantine for 14 days. They will not be allowed to leave their premises unless special permits from Thai authorities are obtained.

More stupidity.

Why dont they simply close the airport and all the border passages ?

That should isolate them 100% .....

Anyone who still thinks this is 'just the flu' has not been paying attention.

Be thankful you're not living in Iran. Praying to Allah to get rid of it, and blaming America isn't working out so good for them. Figures are getting seriously massaged there.

I detest Conspiracy freaks, but this is not just the flu!

Everybody knows now this is a much stronger version.

Same as we can expect all future viruses and bacteria to become more and more resistant.  We create a new medicine, nature creats another virus. And the human are often helping nature in the process !

Concerning prayers, well if prayers and thoughts can heal gun wounds this should be easy ?  😁😁

Anyway, if.I remember all the panics just in the last 25 y, this will pass as well. Not to speak about AIDS which was supposed to exterminate humanity before that.....

The mass infections in Iran shouldn't come as a surprise when their religious practice is to lick shrines. Same as in South Korea, the religious cult there that was at the center of the outbreak insisted on their worshippers attending gatherings even when sick and were forbidden from wearing protective masks. And in Italy they admitted they screwed up in containing the initial outbreak.

Coronavirus: Iran holy-shrine-lickers face prison

South Korea seeks criminal charges against Christian sect over coronavirus spread

Italy scrambles to contain coronavirus outbreak after admitting hospital mess-up

No conspiracy theories required to explain the outbreaks around the world, it's just a more contagious version of the flu.

The US figures don't seem to add up ...

Vice President Mike Pence, who is leading the White House's coronavirus task force, announced that a 10th American has died from the disease.

Pence did not provide further detail about the patient, but said as of Wednesday afternoon a little more than 100 Americans have contracted the virus. Pence said he and the task force are slated to visit Washington state, where nine of the coronavirus deaths occurred, on Thursday.

that would suggest a 10% mortality rate ....

The release of the upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die has been pushed back from April to November, becoming the first Hollywood tentpole to shift its global rollout because of the coronavirus outbreak. That is because the personal financial cost to individuals being tested, quarantined and treated will keep many from coming forward.

There are probably many more already that should have been identified as contracting the virus. That will become self evident if the mortality rates remain higher than in most other countries.

I was really surprised on just how lax Italy was on tracking people who came in contact with an infected person.

Italy

Italy announced on Feb. 26 that it would relax its testing criteria to the point that contacts linked to confirmed cases or recent travelers to outbreak areas would not be tested anymore, unless they show symptoms.

I would think that by the time they show symptoms it's already too late to contain the transmission to others. Wonder how they rationalized that decision. BTW, I couldn't find another source confirming this information.

Some interesting stats on the same page as to number of tests and the % that test positive.

Than you have never been to Italy....   Slowly in the morning and not too fast in the afternoon.

"Chi va piano va sano e va lontano"  who goes slowly goes safely, and goes far"

One of the few countries where they know to take the time for things.

Bali isn't bad either in that domain !

Queensland records two more cases

Two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Queensland.

A 29-year-old woman who recently returned from London via Singapore is now in hospital in Brisbane.

An 81-year-old man who had recently returned from Thailand is in hospital on the Sunshine Coast with the virus.

In that case I am surprised the situation isn't worse than it actually is in Spain with their "Mañana". On the other hand, the Farsi "Pardah" is even worse than the Spanish "Mañana" and it shows in Iran.

"Mañana" : translates as "Afternoon Delights" before a night out on the piss in exotic Playa de Las Americas in Linekers bar! 🤣
