COVID 19 GLOBAL

You'd be wishing you lived in Perth, Western Australia.

Phase 4 restrictions will mean:

  •     All existing gathering limits, and 100/300 rule will be gone,
  •     The 2-square-metre physical distancing rule will continue at venues that hold more than 500 people,
  •     Seated food requirements gone, (you can drink your beer standing up)
  •     No more patron registers at hospitality businesses,
  •     Many more events permitted, except for large-scale music festivals,
  •     Gyms able to operate unstaffed, but regular cleaning must be maintained,
  •     Casino gaming floor to reopen with some operating conditions,
  •     Major sport and entertainment venues to operate at 50 per cent capacity crowds.

But interstate borders remain closed because Victoria dropped the ball.

We have had 9 new cases admitted to the areas hospitals over the weekend. All of them are from out of state. Only 2 were related and non of the rest were traveling together. Thanks to all these dipshits for bringing more of the virus to my backyard.

That's exactly why it is important to...

1) always wear a mask when in public when close to others (<6ft+)

2) social distance (6ft+) whenever possible

3) wash your hands often, or use hand sanitizer after touching anything outside your home

4) stay home and enjoy your creature comforts

This is very simple but for some reason some people are having a hard time with it?

Maybe they actually contracted the virus on visiting your area as you say that 7 of them were travelling independently.

cheers

Yep. Simple steps to protect one's self & others.

Unfortunately, not so simple for some.

The strange case of Conor McKenna.

Conor McKenna is Irish and an Australian Rules footballer.

When the AFL season was suspended earlier on in the pandemic McKenna returned to Ireland to visit family.

When a limited AFL season was being proposed McKenna returned to Australia, spent 14 days in quarantine and returned 2 negative tests for coronavirus.

He returned to football and since then has returned 5 negative tests, the last one being last Wednesday.

Then on Friday a test returned an anomalous result. A second test returned positive.

A test on Saturday also returned positive.

A test today, Tuesday was negative.

I know animal experiments have show that Rhesus macaques can clear the coronavirus in four days but Irishmen.

More from the US spike...

'This has to stop': Houston ICUs filling up after surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations

https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/Houston-ICUs-filling-to-capacity-after-surge-in-15353381.php

In just this past week, Texas hospitals have experienced a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations, climbing to a record number of 3,148 on Friday, according to Texas Health and Human Services.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has grown to 103,305 in Texas. Harris County now leads the state with 18,552 cases.

As the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations have climbed, Houston hospital ICUs have seen an increased influx in patients. According to Houston Methodist Hospital's ICU lead, Dr. Faisal Masul, ICU admissions have shot up in the last week...

...Masud said Houston Methodist's plan of action is to meet the need within the Houston community.

"Our strategy is that we going to be adding more beds," he said.

Masud said the influx of ICU patients is concerning.

"This has to stop. This is not good," Masud said. "After Memorial Day, this is what has happened. Everything depends upon people complying with these mask orders and businesses actually enforcing the orders." ...

My Daughter lives in Austin, Tex, she is appalled at what she sees around town. Not any concern for many, no masks, social distance etc. I told her Calif is the same and we have some real idiots here too. She took my advice and used the same company I did and tested negative and continues to work from home. Same with my Son who is here in San Jose.

Where states are reopening after the U.S. shutdown

Hundreds of millions of people are moving around again. Public health officials warn that a deadly surge may follow.

Note: The Post classifies states as having major, moderate and minor restrictions in place as governors update their guidance on business and social activity. Major restrictions: Personal care businesses, such as salons and barbers, gyms and most non-essential businesses remain closed. Restaurants and bars may not seat patrons. Face coverings and six-foot distancing are required, and public gatherings larger than ten are not permitted. Moderate restrictions: Many of the above businesses may reopen with limited capacity, while bars and gyms remain closed. Minor restrictions: Bars, theaters, casinos or concert halls may reopen, with larger groups permitted.

All states and U.S. territories have eased restrictions on businesses and social activity, trying to restart economies battered by the novel coronavirus pandemic and weeks of stay-at-home orders that affected some 315 million Americans.

Public-health experts warn that this increased activity is likely to cause a surge of new infections. “There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control” by reopening too quickly, said infectious-disease expert Anthony S. Fauci in Senate testimony May 12, “leading to some suffering and death that could be avoided.”

It seems even Colorado is reading from the same Covid script as Thailand and Australia...And just about every other country in the world....

The scrips that every one is reading from says......No new cases from our state or country......We are Covid free....All new cases are coming from another state or country........I guess the states are not being locked down but this is the excuse for continuing to lock the countries down.....

But this same excuse will be used in wave 2 to lock states even cities down and it will go on for many many months...

Bloody Hell just read the post above me here....What do we see?  10 players from the Pakistan are going to bring Covid to England....

..Djokovic, the world No.1 tennis star both he and his wife Jelena had also tested positive for Covid-19 upon returning home to Serbia......After returning home to Serbia from another country...

COVID incubation period...

"...symptoms showed up in the newly infected person about 5 days after contact. Rarely, symptoms appeared as soon as 2 days after exposure. Most people with symptoms had them by day 12. And most of the other ill people were sick by day 14. In rare cases, symptoms can show up after 14 days. Researchers think this happens with about 1 out of every 100 people...

...Researchers estimate that people who get infected with the coronavirus can spread it to others 2 to 3 days before symptoms start and are most contagious 1 to 2 days before they feel sick..."

And always ALWAYS wear your mask even at home alone wear your mask...YOU MUST WEAR YOUR MASK.....DO NOT QUESTION WHY? JUST WEAR IT....

And never NEVER stop watching TV because you need to keep up with the latest news of what our scrip is telling us to say....

1) People can travel - mainly domestically (in the US). It's their choice. I just received a promotion by email this morning. I think if you are not "at risk" a plane flight can work out OK. Might have to quarantine for two weeks for an international trip. I would do that if I planned to stay a couple of months somewhere (and I was allowed in).

2) Countries will open up when they decide it is the right time. I'm sitting on two late July return tickets from Vietnam at the moment -- can't use it as I can't get there. If the flight is not canceled my only choice will be to take a credit for a later date. My early June departure flight to Bangkok was refunded in full.

3) I don't have a TV nor do I enjoy watching TV except for some sports. I selectively 'stream news/entertainment if I choose to. Mostly read the news.

I go out almost everyday. Shopping, the beach, the park, the cannabis shop, gardening, etc. My city has been slowly "opening up." COVID has been relatively light here due to an early March  "shut down" and a cooperative citizenry.

4) I wear a mask when I might be close to other people. It's the polite thing to do as most others here are also wearing masks. I also want to be protected from those that don't wear masks although that does not happen anywhere I go indoors (e.g. shopping).

5) Sounds like you might be watching too much TV..?

https://edition.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-06-23-20-intl/index.html

England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty, says he expects a “significant” amount or coronavirus to be circulating until at least 2021.

“I would be surprised and delighted if we weren't in this current situation through the winter and into next spring,” he said Tuesday in a press conference in Downing Street.

“(But) I expect there to be a significant amount of coronavirus circulating at least into that time and I think it is going to be quite optimistic that for science to come fully to the rescue over that kind of timeframe.”
