Went food shopping earlier at Waitrose, needed bog roll as well but was emptied out.So just bought tissues instead.

Fucking mental this panic buying.

Did get £10 of sushi for lunch though.👍

I put an online order in earlier, for when I return in 10 days or so (that is, if I am allowed to return!)

Being thoughtful, I thought I'd only order a pack of 4 toilet rolls. I womt need many more, I hope....

No hab. No hab. No hab. No options available. No singles, or twin packs.

I had to order a pack of 9.

If you're still desperate in a fortnight I'll send you some...

My mate's in Tenerife in lock down from this morning.

Here's what lock down in Spain looks like -

YOUR HELP IS ESSENTIAL
What you can and cannot do, following the Spanish Government’s declaration of a State of Emergency, given the health crisis caused by COVID-19

CAN I GO OUT ONTO THE STREET?
For the duration of the State of Emergency you may only go out in public to carry out allowed activities, only if you are alone or accompanying a person with a disability, or who has mobility problems

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES THAT I MAY LEGALLY GO OUT IN PUBLIC TO DO?
Acquisition of food stuffs, going to the chemist for essential items
Going to a health centre
Going to the location of your job to work
Returning to your home/place of residence
Assisting and caring for elderly persons, children, dependent persons, persons with a disability or those who are especially vulnerable
For emergency reasons or in a situation of the utmost necessity
Any other activity of a similar nature you can justify

CAN I GO OUT IN MY CAR?
You can drive on public roads to carry out any of the activities referred to above or to fill your tank with petrol.

CAN I PLAY SPORT IN THE STREET?
No, playing sport on the streets doesn’t fall into any of the justified reasons to go out, even on your own.

CAN I MEET OTHER PEOPLE OUTSIDE/ON THE STREET?
No, you can go out on your own or accompanying someone with a disability or who has mobility problems but under no circumstances can you socialise on the streets.

CAN I GO TO THE BEACH OR TO A PARK WITH THE CHILDREN?
No, the beaches and other public spaces are closed. Furthermore the recommendation is that children remain at home.

CAN I VISIT A FAMILY MEMBER, A FRIEND, A NEIGHBOUR?
No, it isn’t recommended – this is how the virus can spread and these kinds of visits are not in the allowed list.

IF I AM A DEPENDENT PERSON OR HAVE DEPENDENT FAMILY MEMBERS, CAN MY FAMILY VISIT ME OR CAN I VISIT THEM TO ASSIST THEM?
Under these circumstances, yes, you are allowed to have a visitor or go to their house to give or receive the help you need

CAN I TAKE MY DOG OUT?
Yes, though only as long as you are respecting the protection and security measures now in place. You should walk the dog alone, and not use this as an excuse to go for a walk.

CAN I GO OUT TO BARS OR RESTAURANTS?
No, they are closed under the State of Emergency declared by the government.

ARE COMMERCIAL CENTRES OPEN?
No, only stores that are selling food, hygiene and cleaning products. Shops in commercial centres that are only selling these kinds of goods may open.

AND LIBRARIES, MUSEUMS, CIVIC AND CULTURAL CENTRES?
No, these are also closed

CAN I GO TO MASS OR ATTEND OTHER RELIGIOUS SERVICES?
Religious temples are also closed.

IF I NEED TO GO SHOPPING. ARE SUPERMARKETS AND FOOD SHOPS OPEN?
Yes, provision of food is considered an essential service, which is why you are permitted to go out to shop as long as you continue to follow the rules. Avoid crowds, keep a distance of one metre between you and any other person.

You may not eat food in shops. You may only stay in a shop for as long as is absolutely necessary for the acquisition of the food and essential items you need.

CAN I BUY ONLINE?
The decree allows for food to be send to a home and doesn’t restrict online commerce, or purchasing via the telephone or by post.

IN GENERAL, WHAT KIND OF SHOPS MAY OPEN?
Those that are considered essential, selling, for instance:

Food, drinks, essential goods
Pharmacies, shops selling medicines, optical products,
Hygienic products
Hairdressers
Newsagents and stationary shops
Petrol stations
Gas retailers
Technological equipment, telecommunications equipment
Pet food
Internet and telephone shops
Laundries and dry-cleaners

IF I HAVE A DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT SHOULD I GO TO THE CENTRE?
Yes, though you should check first in case it has been cancelled.

I’M A JOURNALIST, CAN I GO OUT TO GATHER INFORMATION?

Yes, journalists may go out as part of their work, and continue to keep the wider population informed as to what is happening during this time of crisis.

ADEJE COUNCIL MUNICIPAL SERVICES WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE
📌 Municipal activities are suspended
📌The Citizens Attention service will continue to operate but via appointment only – call 922 756 200.
📌The Farmers Market will operate during normal scheduled hours, as this is a food provision service, though some contagion prevention measures will be in place.
📌The other municipal buildings, as well as cultural centres, the School of Music, libraries, the senior citizen centre, the centre for disability, and sports installations are closed.
📌Beaches are closed
📌Parks are closed.

in Ireland ..

Pubs asked to close from tonight until 29 March

All pubs, including hotel bars, have been asked to close from tonight until at least 29 March, in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Government has also strongly advised against house parties while the pubs are closed.

The Government called on all pubs and bars to close after discussions today with the Licenced Vintners Association (LVA) and the Vintners' Federation of Ireland (VFI).

Health Minister Simon Harris said this shutdown of bars and pubs is not an excuse to have what he termed "Covid-19 parties".

Coronavirus: US slashes rates and launches huge stimulus programme

The US has cut interest rates to almost zero and launched a $700bn stimulus programme in a bid to protect the economy from the impact of coronavirus.

It is part of a co-ordinated action announced on Sunday in the UK, Japan, the eurozone and Switzerland.

Announcing the US move, the Federal Reserve said the "outbreak has harmed communities and disrupted economic activity in many countries".

Fed chairman Jerome Powell will hold a news conference later on Sunday.

US President Donald Trump said the Fed's action "makes him very happy".

The Fed has cut rates to a target range of 0% to 0.25%, and said it would it begin buying bonds - quantitative easing - a move that pumps money directly into the economy.

The central bank had already cut interest rates by half a percentage point after an emergency meeting on 3 March. It was the first rate cut outside of a regularly scheduled policy meeting since the financial crisis in 2008.

Short answer is a high percentage of the population is elderly, the oldest in Europe.  It has a lot of people in their 80's and 90's and the average age of those who have died is 81. The country has a higher number of deaths from ordinary flu each year than other European countries because the elderly are susceptible to respiratory diseases.   Italy has also conducted a vigorous testing program (42,000 tests) compared with most countries, although it lags behind S. Korea.  However, the first case wasn't reported until Feb. 20 and some analysts think a lot more people could have had the disease but it wasn't identified as coronavirus.

Some other factors have been named, such as many elderly gathering for Catholic mass, funerals, weddings, christenings, etc; kissing or embracing  as a greeting;  an active social life in crowded surroundings; pollution and cigarette smoking; and some more far-fetched explanations.  But all that is a matter of speculation.

I have to say I'm pretty happy with the recent accomplishments here in Ohio in the US. They just announced tonight all bars and restaurants are to be closed at 9pm until further notice. No large public gatherings allowed. The Cleveland Clinic has drive thru testing and an 8 hr notification on results. The rec center has closed so not gym time for me. They are leaving this open ended and I am glad to see we are being proactive on this now after a slow start.

Stay safe and for those in Pattaya enjoy the quiet times for a bit.

And during all that, HKG has never closed anything....

My mates continuing to hang out in Wanchai.

Sure it's quiete, but it was already since a year, the economic slowdown and demos were responsible for that. The virus has just made thing worse with a lot of the maids being locked up by their employer....

All good here in the jungle, and I can guarantee you that my mate Ahmed is in top condition. His lungs are still going at full blast !
