Where to go for a week or so this summer?

It is unlikely that it will be possible to get into Thailand until at least the last two months of the year.

My question here is where would you consider visiting for a week or so this summer and why would you consider visiting there?

I appreciate there will be possibly three markets here; places easily commutable from Europe, places easily commutable from USA/Canada and finally places commutable from Australia/New Zealand.

Going to rent a cottage or caravan somewhere near the coast, probably Norfolk. Plenty available, never go abroad in our summer nowadays anyway, hate the heat of other popular tourist countries at this time of year tbh.....

We do that as as extended family (brother, wife and 2 kids, me, and elderly mother) every year, going to see family (aunt, 92, uncle, 98, and various cousins) who live in Norfolk.

However, whilst social distancing rules apply, I can't see that happening for us. The oldies are all too deaf to hold a conversation outside at 2 meters.

I'm planning on visiting Ourgate, in Magarden, instead.

We're going down to stay a week with @Nightcrawler, listen to Liberace while he swans about in his pink tutu making his own coleslaw.

We want our daughter to be more 'woke' and Politically Correct, not to judge people on their looks or sexual orientation, hence taking her to stay with the biggest freak we know  👍

As much as I was hoping Porn could pop back to Thailand at some stage I am only likely to travel within the UK.

At present I can't even travel to Wales and that is really top of my list. Would like to get a week in a cottage in Devon or Cornwall with the family during August and hope that happens.

I'm pretty much sticking around here. We figure any trips to see the GFs family wont happen till end of year and I'm very content playing it safe. We both like to go for long drives of 3 to 4 hours but always end up back in our own bed. So it's going to be an easy summer.

I maybe be tempted to attend one of Krapow's Coleslaw and Cake making weekend courses for those with substance addiction and abuse.  An alcohol free therapeutic weekend of preparing light sponges and cabbage based condiments for frontline NHS staff. Yoga and Massage will be available, provided by LBGU Shirley and Krapow himself will be demonstrating how to stick his head up his own arse in 3 Stages whilst drinking a glass of Sarsperela.

Thinking of spending a week in Devon. But that depends on the Covid situation.  Maybe August I can rent a cottage from someone Know

If you go there and run into this guy, can you tell him hello for me? He will probably remember me LOL!

Steve Howe lives in Devon....is it a nice place?

Hoping to make it to "Yosemite" later this year, they are starting to re-open now and we like the Mountains.

I sure will. I have met him and also met Pete Banks years ago.

I doubt he will remember either of us but "yours is no disgrace"

It will be winter here in Australia.

I have just organised a southwest Queensland pub tour for 4 nights in August. Staying overnight at Warwick, St George, Miles and Gatton. An old retired mate and myself do this each year and pick a different area for every trip. We try and call in to have a beer at every country pub we go past.

I was thinking about taking my sons to the original Legoland in Billund, but unfortunately, Denmark is currently closed to people from the Netherlands.

For tourism yes. I can't wait for kastrup to open up fully as I use it to get to southwest Sweden to see the TW. I regularly look at the updated Danish police Website regarding travelling through Kastrup and you need a very good reason to be there. Luckily, they've recently added "visiting loved ones and sweethearts" to their list. But you have to download an online document and show that you've been in the relationship for at least 3 months.

Just waiting for Easyjet to start flying there again. Ryanair fly there also but I'm loathed to use them.

Agree about Ryanair, O'Leary is a fucking scumbag, and I would never use his airline.

You cannot tell the future, and don't know when Thailand will open the borders. Saying "last 2 months of the year" is at best speculative, and at worst, inaccurate. Feel free to provide a source for your speculative dates, which you seem to think are Nov / Dec, when Thai airways have planned routes for July / August  daily LHR-BKK. Are they planning for repatriation flights for those dates then?.

Humour us with specific sources, or is it just your opinion?.

People can't actually "holiday" due to distancing rules being so different  regardless of their location due to the rules being so vague. Also, perhaps you have not noticed, but most people cannot actually afford to fly at short notice. The private sector in the UK is looking very dicey at the moment. My wife is a Doctor and even in the public sector, such as perhaps the NHS or the Police are looking to make savings, especially from the civilian supported areas. This puts a lot of people at risk of losing their jobs,.

Places are not commutable , by virtue of the fact that there are very fewer flights operating and even fewer customers willing to take the risk of flying, as there are no definite rules in place for travel at the moment, such as is "Distancing" applicable to Flights during their operation. It varies too much, there is no parity and the public are just not willing to take the risk of either being stranded or catching a dose of C19.

I won't risk being stranded either, but catching a dose of C19 isn't a risk but a certainty. I would however prefer to avoid serious complications while on holiday.
