Big Snake & Other XL Creatures

People run for safety as Kurdish animal-rights activists release a bear into the wild in Duhok, Iraq, on February 11, 2021. The photographer Ari Jalal: "In Kurdistan, animal-rights activists were rescuing bears from captivity in people's homes and releasing them back into the wild. This bear had been kept as a pet in a garden in Kurdistan, and this was the moment it was set free. As the bear was let out of its cage, the journalists and onlookers started running. The people were just as scared of the bear as the bear was of them. Taking photos of wild animals was new to me, but luckily I had spent four hours with the bear the day before. I knew the bear had been raised as a pet so wasn't aggressive. So when it was released, I understood its behavior and was not scared of it—unlike the other journalists who ran and screamed." #

A bobtail (Tiliqua rugosa) dropped in to steal the bird food (meat and cheese for the carnivores).

Prized as pets in Asia, pre-pandemic there'd be one or two people of Asian descent caught at Perth airport every year trying to smuggle a suitcase load out of the country.

The common variety pictured can fetch about $AU2,000, some of the flashier ones with a more striking colour scheme can fetch up to $AU10,000.

Wonder why this guy thought it would be a good idea to try and pet a tiger.

A man suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a tiger at a Florida zoo. The tiger was shot and killed

The County Sheriff's office posted unedited body cam video of the incident (link). The warning at the beginning is accurate, "video contains graphic content".

Should have shot the stupid irresponsible man NOT the tiger imo

... “It is believed that the bull may have attacked the rancher,” Aubert said. The rancher’s identity has not been released. The cause of death will be determined by the Contra Costa County medical examiner and coroner.

As deputies were investigating the incident, the bull approached emergency personnel in a threatening manner and deputies shot it dead, Aubert said.

“The deputies had to protect the emergency responding crews,” he said.

Have any BMs seen one of these in real life?

An Oarfish and part of the Herring family. Ugly bastard.

Yes, that is an oarfish, but it isn't part of the herring family though his Dutch name (Haringkoning, king of herrings) might lead one to think so.

I stand corrected mate.

It's still an ugly feckin thing though. 🤭

So it's not used to make the king of rollmops?

Not an XL creature, but deadly none the less.

Four bathers killed and over 20 injured in spate of deadly piranha attacks

Alarm has been raised in Paraguay by a series of piranha attacks in recent days leaving four bathers dead and more than 20 others injured with it unusual for the fish to be so aggressive

Holy Moly... that's a tough way to go.... being devoured buy a bunch of fish. OMG, first the slow death of 1,000,000 cuts (I suppose unless you drown first).

Then your bloated body floating in the river once they get their fill.

Nope, with piranhas there wouldn't be enough flesh left on your bones to float - your stripped skeleton would drop to the bottom of the river and stay there - what a delightful way to meet your end, huh?

Yup, the little fuckers will strip you clean in very quick time, something like 5 minutes for an average size guy and a few hundred fish. Horrendous way to go.

The really horrendous part of it is, that your brain will be active most of that time (and will be the only non-bony tissue ending up on the bottom).
