Food for Thought

Recommended Posts

I normally keep well away from political and social issues on the forum, however I was quite surprised this morning when I came across this food handout. I spoke to the two German gents who appeared to be managing the event and they advised that it took place every day at 0800 hours. I am aware that @tommy dee made a collection and participated in a similar event, but that was during the mid part of last year and I assumed arrangements had been put in hand to avoid the need for free food handouts. I will not comment further but leave the thread for members to view and consider. As a matter of policy I do not normally take photographs of homeless or deprived people, however I decided that this merited an exception. I did not go out of my way to look for rough sleepers, I just came across the three I photographed.

I have moved this thread into the general section of the forum.  Unfortunately it has had to be edited significantly due to some comments breaching forum rules.

  1. Royal Families – Thai and others; this is to comply with Thai law.

  2. Thailand Government and Police Services.  Posts showing disrespect or a negative sentiment towards the Thai Authorities and Institutions are specifically prohibited.

The picture does not represent the scene properly.  It was taken very quickly from  the back seat of a baht bus, being driven by someone who thought they were in a formul one race.  I have never seen such a large crowd before anywhere except at Bali Hai.  The give outs on Beach Road seem to have disappeared.
