Pattaya and other parts of Thailand - Past and Present Visits. (Updated 20th July 2023)

Great pics John TFP. Wifey and i are frequent visitors for a couple of hours on our trips, its a great place to walk about and view the stunning workmanship.

Question - I wonder if it suffers from termites ?

Excellent photography!

It must have been quite serene without the coach loads of package tourists being bustled around.

Time to slolwly view the artwork and reflect on the philosophy of human existence in relative silence.

Thank you.

A similar situation at Mini Siam; I accept it is a different type of attraction.  For most if not all of the time I was the sole visitor.  I for one would willingly pay more it they set aside limited periods of time for groups of photographers or even singles.

What's sad is I hadn't noticed her as I was more focused on the bike. She's riding the exact model (Aerox) and color scheme that will be my next bike. Going tomorrow to make the purchase.

Except that's a Honda Click she's riding and not an Aerox ???

From The Avenue through to Soi Buakhao.  Overall conclusions are that the Bars are closed; other businesses are operating with a smaller customer base. The Avenue appears quieter this morning (1015 am) than it was last week.

Has Chunky Monkey been sold; will it open as an up market restuarant?

untitled-3408.jpg

Finally today; bars are closed with the exception of those operating as restuarants/coffee shops etc.  Areas where their is a high concentration of bars do look decimated.

Walking Street is not looking good.  My thoughts are that the area is just about all bars and clubs etc; no diversity and so the bar closure order hits all the premises there. It is a good time to refurbish the roads and overhead electric wires.

Walking Street pics are grim!

agreed - not one shop is being maintained - they are all starting to look extremely drab-  this seems to be the Thai way to not do any remedial work to keep a place looking at least respectable - but just let fall into disrepair..

Whilst I do not disagree with your point regarding remedial work/essential maintenance, I do wonder whether the idea is to let the area deteriorate to such an. extent that it has to be totally redeveloped into a totally different type of area.  Perhaps so or perhaps just a conspiracy theory
