Moonshine Joint in Cowboy was a favourite afternoon drinking place early 90s.

One of the girls who worked there ended up a boss at Pretty Lady in Nana years later. When that place was rocking, for me it was the best gogo in town.

One of the Thai managers opened his own bar - The Bancockney on the same soi as the Dynasty Grand. Had some crazy times with Gop and his mrs over the years. He used to take us on bar and club crawls, amazing host and great company.

I agree Bangkok is not everyone's 'cup of tea'...

It's a city where you need more than a bit of perseverance to get through any day. A love/hate relationship that is ongoing every time you step out.

I lived there for the better part of five years. Enjoyed most of it. Would not live there again...

My 4th though 6th picks...

Pussy Collection - Patpong -- young friendly dancers

Tawandaeng - Naratiwat Rd. -- great spot, beer, good food, entertainment

Hana Massage - Suk Soi 22 -- old gal Rin

I was a Bangkok guy until visiting Pattaya again in the late 90's after a disappointing trip in the early 80's.  By 2005 or 6 I started going straight to Pattaya.  So...

Patpong.  Kings Castle 1 (almost went with Safari).  Mid to late 80's.

Nana Plaza.  G-Spot. Early 90's.

Soi Cowboy. Suzi Wong.  Late 90s.

Clinton plaza Dollhouse was great but didn't last long enough to make my best three list.

Ok I am on the opposite of this thread, I loved Bangkok more then Pattaya by a long shot really. I have never been to any other Asian country ( and have been to many) where I just got the "vibe" like Bangkok. No matter how many times I stepped into Patpong, Nana, Soi Cowboy I just had this feeling of "euphoria"  Just can't explain it, you know.

Patpong...for me loved Kings Castle. First bar ever for me in 1999, actually the guys I worked with set me up with this one 20 year old. Had no idea, there were that many young gals working there back in the day. Back to the " Narai" hotel on Silom Rd with her..........and the rest is history.

Nana...Spankys was the place I enjoyed the best....

Soi Cowboy...tough one here, early on Baccara blew the doors off any other go go, but in later years, the girls attitude changed. Later years, no doubt, Crazy House had some great gals who kept me company.

Few pics of all of the darlings from these places........been posted many times, still fun to look at.

One thing is for sure whether our personal preference was Bangkok or Pattaya we enjoyed the best of what was on offer and had a great time whilst it lasted. It is never going to be the same again.

Contrary to what the powers that be of this forum would try to hide we ALL kept returning to Thailand for the pussy. My only regret is that I cannot go back to 2003 and repeat. :default_biggrin:

Wow, my last actual Bangkok experience was years ago, so my choice is pretty limited.

Q Bar Bangkok was a great nightclub, some amazing babes in there and very popular with the "Hi So's" at the time.

Suzi Wong's - one of a handful of bars I can actually remember going into and coming out of.

Thermae, only went the once with a mate and my memory is at best, very vague. I can, however remember spending a lot of money that evening.

Honourable mention goes to the Eden club, somewhere i'm sure I'd have enjoyed had I not bottled out from going in there on no less than 3 occasions.

Chonburi does have a great selection of golf courses, though

All currently closed I imagine.

I do recall our caddy's at Burrapha were worth "selecting."  Some were even amenable to polishing more than one's golf ball. One stopped working as a caddy and started "dancing" at Beavers. We all went along to her first night and she was absolutely mortified as she had to dance on our table displaying HER beaver.

Guy I knew of shagged his caddy who told her mother who colluded with a policeman to screw the guy out of a lot of money. She wasn't quite old enough.

I tend to play a lot of pool whilst in Thailand

My favourite place in the afternoon is Breakers Spots bar, they have 3 decent tables and get a good crowd to play. Oh and a few nice girls too!

Early evening I like to sit people watching in the Stumble Inn, next door to Big Dogs. Very relaxing and a good vibe seeing all the Nana hotties ariving for work and the Nana Carpark girls strutting their stuff.

As for Gogos, I like Spanky's in Nana, never a dull moment in there!

I stayed there - Livingstone's - a few times. After getting a place, used to drink in the 'sports' bar & eat at the restaurant. Nice setting around the pool.

Soi 33 had some good bars and pretty women for a time.

Stayed there myself. The rooms were good the breakfast by the pool was good. Back when Soi 33 had some good bars. I use to frequent Dagars in the 90s. It was a good friendly bar back then. Use to go to Renoirs on occasion too. I thought it had atmosphere. Sad to see the end of all of those bars. I Still like the beergarden in soi 7 and Check in 99 R.I.P.

The last time we spoke Herman said he split time between Bangkok and on the river near Ayutthaya.

Guido, the chef from Livingstone's, has a restaurant on Silom Soi 4 - "G's Bangkok"

I too love Bangkok. The key there is living real close to a BTS or MRT station. Once you master the use and enjoy the ease of that system the world is your oyster.

There are things I love about Pattaya as well. Yet, for a place to live long term I take a pass.

Chiang Mai is a place I discovered during my last stay, back in late 2019. As far as I'm concerned for the type of environment I prefer it is the perfect place (for long term living). BKK, Patts, and most other parts of Thailand (and most of SE Asia) are just a short (1 hour plane ride, for about $60 (or less)). Sitting on the condo balcony in CM knowing I can get up and easily go (the airport is just a 10 grab taxi away) to BKK anytime I want is priceless.

1) Gulliver's Soi 5 - Great games of pool, good food, and most of the ladies hanging around were available.

2)The Big Mango, Circa 2007

3)Small GoGo on Suk Soi 7/1, might have been called "Mirrors", the stage floor was all mirrors and all the girls wore socks and no underwear beneath their skirts.

1) Eden Club on Soi 7/1, the original home of the two-girl (or more) porn star experience;

2) The coffee shop at the Grace Hotel in the late 70s, early 80s.  There were 10 freelancers for every male customer. Playboy magazine once wrote that if you "can't get laid out of the coffee shop at the Grace, you can't get laid anywhere on Earth." Payment was always "up to you"  and many girls were willing to go with customers for meals and a place to sleep.  The Grace Hotel, which had been an official R&R hotel during the Vietnam War, became very run down and the owners refused to invest money in it.  It changed hands in the late 80s and the new owners renovated it, then began marketing it to Arab customers.  The coffee shop was no longer a hospitable  venue for plain-vanilla farang.

Tie for 3):  Livingstone's on Soi 33 and the Biergarten on Soi 7, both of which have already been mentioned several times.
