Popular Post Yessongs
Wifey and I went to “John Muir Woods” Redwood Forest Monday. Nice ride, up and over The Golden Gate Bridge over San Francisco. You end up in “Mill Valley” where there is a bit of a winding road until you get to your location. $30 entrance fee for 2 adults, $8.50 for preferred parking. Decided for our first time, we did the “Canopy Trail” 2.7 miles ( 4.4km) hike. You end up 650 feet higher, until you reach the top of this particular route. Steep at times, but certainly worth doing. I do not think I will be trying to summit Mt. Everest next spring though LOL! One does not realize the size of these “redwood trees” until you stand next to them! 500 years old some of these are….amazing. Here is one thing about this particular trip we noticed and talked about after we got done. Not 1 Bird, Squirrel/Chipmunk, Lizard any wildlife was around at all. It was completely and utterly quiet the entire time from any animals?? Seriously….. We are in a severe “drought” here in Calif, could see these going up in a heartbeat if not watched closely. Same as in Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevada Mountain range. We are currently in the 2nd biggest wildfire in Calif history right now called the “Dixie Fire” where Rachanee and I were last Aug at Mt. Lassen and Lake Almanor. The town called “Greenville” has been completely destroyed by this fire and it is only 24 miles from Chester, Calif where we stayed. Sad times for Calif. 4 2 2
Golfingboy
Nice pics Mike, but judging by how fatigued I was after my 17K steps on a flat golf course yesterday…….I’ll pass on the hilly hikes for a while. That Montreal humidity kills me, gotta stay hydrated
forcebwithu
My then wife and I did the Muir Woods trails as part of a SF to Napa Valley motorcycle tour in 2004. Beautiful area. Edited August 11, 2021 by forcebwithu
lazarus
Nice pics! Lots of nature around the Bay Area. Yeah, very dry year. Hot & dusty away from the foggy coast. Once the wind shifts in the Fall it'll be an inferno.

A quick question. I guess the $30 is $10 for you and $20 for a Thai ... 🤭 1

Tough to see our great state have to go through this every summer/fall. By the way, coming back home to "Man Jose" off HWY 101, going down Van Ness Ave, the buildings and all looked great. Everything just kind of looked updated and re-freshed. What is that they are putting down the middle of the street? KInd of a transit system or what? 12 hours ago, Derek Dangleberries said: What an absolutely stunning report. Thank You for taking the time. A quick question. I told her I would send Joe Biden an e-mail 😜😜

They redeveloped Van Ness Ave. to run buses in the middle lanes. In theory the changes should speed up traffic and make pedestrian crossings safer. In practice the project is three years behind schedule, has killed many small business, and once again proved that SF city gov'mint -- especially the MTA -- is inept at best. Back in the old days Van Ness was "automobile row" -- all the big car brands had sales and repair shops along it.

Horizondave
Fantastic trees and setting. I remember my brother driving up through California (I think beyond San Fran) and telling me he actually drove through a tunnel in a tree so they must be big up there.
