Popular Post john luke Posted September 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2021 Flew out late last night to Malta. It was a somewhat last minute decision. The resort is called Sliema. Had a bit of a battle to secure a decent room but made it in the end; to answer the obvious question I am on my own and the room has three single beds. After the hotel a panoramic taken from the coastline. The rest of the photographs were all taken after walking out of my hotel and then along the coastline, with a few deviations. I am looking forward to visiting some of the old protected buildings. I have never been to Malta before. 11 2
Butch Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Loads of history in Malta, lovely place which I must visit again! I don't remember much of it as last time I was there was 1977, but it looks great.
Krapow Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Great pics JL. Looks kinda Italian, which isn't surprising i suppose, considering it's location.

Derek Dangleberries Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 My Dad and uncles served in Malta between the North Africa campaign and the invasion of Italy. They often said that they lost their "toothbrushes" in Malta. I have no idea if they lost them at the same time or in the same "place". Any photos of WW2 would be much appreciated. Maybe I'll spot my Dad...and perhaps the person that stole his toothbrush!

john luke Posted September 13, 2021 Author Posted September 13, 2021 Thai Massage looked a little expensive.
Nightcrawler Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 In the the seventies, I used to visit Malta 3 times a year as a family member owned a villa in St Paul's Bay and I had the use of his car. Beautiful island, and fairly unspoiled then. Locals were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Mdina the silent city is a fascinating place to visit and a trip to Gozo is worthwhile Thanks for the pictures, which brought back some good memories.
Popular Post john luke Posted September 13, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted September 13, 2021 Day 2 - A walk along the coastline in the opposite direction to yesterday. Very much a boating theme today. 7 1

john luke Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 One of the negatives of organised tours is the fact that they often call at jewellery outlets, cut/blown glass outlets and similar. Some may enjoy but really not for me. The above is the view from outside the cut glass outlet which we visited. The cut and blown glass is beautiful, but even so I would not fancy carrying it in check in luggage on a flight. Moan over. 2
john luke Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 On to Valetta. (This is yesterday by the way.) 6 1
