UK Supply chain issues - Food and now fuel.

Went to my usual petrol station last night about 8.30pm and there was no unleaded at all. Did panic a bit so went off 5 miles to another usual location where it was open (but busy) and I got a full tank at £1.58.9 a litre.

I need to get Porn to work so need to have fuel and running low I wasn't willing to leave it after seeing the media stories.

The smart move is to top up rather than ignore.

I am meant to be going to England on Wednesday for 4 days so I hope it doesn't become an issue as I may cancel the trip.

One I went past yesterday was closed and the one by me had a third of the pumps shut.

Will the police move the protesters?.

Of course not as a lot of them are white middle class. If they were black youngsters they would be in a cell before they knew it.

My wife doesn't drive and I take her to work although she could take a bus except for Saturday/Sunday. Taking a bus is an option but my wife would have to walk for 1.5 hours to work each way on a Saturday/Sunday, that is not an option.

I am hoping this issue is resolved within days rather than escalates. I don't need to go out and I can walk Kataleya to school but the NHS hospital where Porn works may see less of her if these idiots don't stop soon.

I put 3/4 of a tank into the diesel car on Saturday, which is only used once a week on average, as fuel goes off if left in the tank too long.
The wife drives an EV and usually does around 1900 miles a month running our kid around etc. We charge that at home on cheap overnight leccy of 5pence per Kwh, so unless there’s a power cut, those protesters can go stick their thumbs up their bums and climb up to their elbows, for all I care. 🤗

Been reading a couple of articles about the cost of living.

One was about the dearest and cheapest places to fill up. Cheapest average price was 148p in North Yorkshire, and the dearest is 174p in Northumberland. Average by me is about 164p in my local stations.

Also the cooking oils. Chip shop association reckoned a third of the 10,000 chippies in the UK could close if the oil price increase goes on.

Apparently sunflower oil has gone up by 50% and some other oils by 100%. And 75% of sunflower oil comes from Russia and Ukraine.

Some say they have to increase prices, but combine it with people cutting back spending it's not a good outlook.

You want to try living here in Dorset.

🙁Petrol here ranges from £161.9 to £165.9  and Diesel ranges from £175.9 o £178.9

Luckily, I don't have to put much in our diesel car as I only use it once a week and I get cheap (approx 1/3 cost @5.5pp KWH) electric overnight to charge our electric car. 😃

Doubt I need to stock up as I can't see a rush for my vegan shite

The problem INHO is the possible shortage/price increases of fertilizer. It's made with oil and the price will go through the roof.

That’s a problem, especially as most farmers have become reliant on expensive fertilisers to increase their crop yield.
I’ve been watching a few farming sites and seeing how some farmers in the UK and the US have been going back to planting nitrogen rich crops such as clover and when it’s ready, they plow it back into the soil to supply the nitrogen fertiliser and sow corn/barley or other such crop seed straight after.

Got to be cheaper in the long run than the ever increasing price of chemical fertilisers pushed by the big companies.
