john luke
Perhaps I did it the wrong way round but we booked the evening Fireworks buffet at the Dusit Thani on Friday evening and attended the second showing on Beach Road near the structure with the King in ceremonial dress. Between the two Fireworks shows I stumbled upon the Kite Event which was being held at the Walking Street end of the beach. 2
john luke
Saturday afternoon was quite busy in Pattaya; please see first photograph. Food and other stalls were erected on Beach Road for the Firework Festival. It was at this time that I saw the kites flying above the beach as I proceeded towards Walking Street.
john luke
Pattaya this evening was as busy as I have seen it; the event was divided into four sections. I actually left after the third section. Beach Road, Second Road and Naklua Road all congested. I took a motor cycle taxi as I did not fancy sharing a Baht bus with about ten others! The photographs were taken at between 8 and 15 seconds at f8/f11.
CampariO
Those must be the best pics of fireworks I have ever seen. Thinking about printing them and putting them in frames. Much better than red cars 😜. The kite pics are great as well. Thank you!
forcebwithu
Looks like no more kite events for Pattaya. According to the Deputy Major "kites might ruin the beautiful scenery and cause disorder". How these leaders can spout such nonsense and keep a straight face is beyond me. Pattaya deputy mayor warns beach vendors of placing kites on beach Pattaya Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn forbade beach vendors from placing kites on the beach, saying the kites were damaging the beautiful scenery. The deputy visited Pattaya Beach at 10 A.M. yesterday, September 20th, to inspect the beach and greet beachgoers and vendors from the Dusit Thani intersection down to Central Pattaya. During the trip, Wuthisak asked for cooperation from the beach vendors to refrain from placing their stalls and kites on the beach, citing that the stalls and kites might ruin the beautiful scenery and cause disorder. Additionally, vendors must be 1-2 meters apart, not cook on the beach, and not rent their space to others. “Vendors must comply with the rules to create a good first impression for visitors coming to enjoy the festivals,” Wuthisak told The Pattaya News. 2

' Pattaya beach and ' beautiful scenery ' in the same sentence is a great example of an oxymoron. Up there with White City Estate in Shepherd's Bush.🤣

I was alluding to the inherent, grumpy, self centered, curmudgeon attitude of Thai officialdom protecting their little bit of responsibility, that existed prior to that slogan, during the period of that slogan and will continue until well after we have both popped our clogs..
