With China shut down turning to India makes sense. Time to open the curry shops!

Hopes high for influx of Indian visitors to Pattaya

Tourism operators in Pattaya hope Indian travellers can provide some relief during the upcoming low season as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) prepares marketing plans for the South Asian country, in line with the Air Travel Bubble (ATB) agreement.

Thanet Supornsahasrungsi, acting president of the Chon Buri Tourism Council, said there will be pent-up demand because of the lack of commercial flights during the outbreak, yet operators have to wait and see how many airlines will return to the skies, particularly low-cost carriers that can generate more volume.

India remains one of the few short-haul markets that does not require quarantine upon return...

Deep joy, i bet all the bar owners are most excited about the return of the 1 x drink and 3 straws brigade !!!!

We had some great ethnically Indian guys who used to stay in Secrets hotel and were big spenders in the bar.

They all lived in England. :default_drinks:

But that's before you insisted on a discount! 🙂

Indians were by far the biggest nationality of tourists in Krabi when we were there, by far.

Plenty of proper Indian restaurants etc to service them as well, which we loved, as we love proper Indian food.

I say 'proper', as in London many restaurants claim to be Indian but in reality are Bengali or Bangladeshi. Which is okay to an extent, i love a spicy Lamb naga. But we both prefer and could taste the difference in food when it was genuine Indian which we got in Krabi.

The ladyboys must be rubbing their hands with glee right now at all those "Gold" necklaces having lonely walks down Beach Road at 2am in the morning!! LOL

Hopefully the hotels they use will be the high volume ones normally used by Chinese tourists. I don't recall seeing coachloads of Indians doing day trips , or hordes of them crossing Beach Rd from the Islands though.

As a tip, if anyone is concerned their potential Hotel choice might be popular with Indian tourists, check the Hotel out on Trip Advisor or Agoda and look at the reviews. The names will give you a clue. I found this out with a Hotel I was considering last trip, seemed very good until I looked at the names and where they were from...

If they do use them, they'll be high volume all right.       :default_229031_thewave:

Can't say they have been any problem in my experience. Chinese and Russians are the ones who get on my tit's.

Gal ...that's because to my certain knowledge you've never paraded your wears on Beach Road etc.

Was in Dollhouse couple of hours ago and 2 Indians weren't just groping dancing girls it was like all in wrestling.

They're not quite with the programme yet ........ Mamasan and I were chatting and she told me more common by the day.

Security have to intervene sometimes .... the far end of Walking Street walked down it tonight is still a building site but its fucking Mumbai on steroids now unrecognisable ...... all my fave restaurants just rubble now.

Bhat buses will be packed to the gills. Difficult to walk anywhere with their groups of 4 or 5 walking in packs. Throw in the Ruskie stroller patrols and you can forget about it.

I've been seeing more and more families pushing kids in strollers and with kids in tow along Buakhao. Don't understand why they would risk their kids' lives that way, but it may be a case of them choosing a hotel with no idea of what kind of area they'd be staying in.

That's more likely, especially if it is their first visit.

When i first started coming to Pattaya you'd have stopped and stared, going WTF if you seen a farang family in Pattaya.

Then last time i was in Pattaya, i was one of those farang families.

Go figure, as the Yanks say :default_biggrin:

Truly boggles the mind. The last time I was in Pattaya there wasn't a 7/11 that I walked into that didn't have at least one kid in a stroller screaming it's lungs out.
